I love how varied and universally weird the circumstances for making lifelong friendships are. Here's this guy I accidentally messaged once and I could not imagine my life without them now. Here's this girl I was so scared of when I met her, I would kill for her and remind her to rest on the regular. Here's this other guy we have so much in common we used to joke we were the same person in different timelines. It took us years to meet in person and I attended his wedding. There are also people who entered my life in absolutely unremarkable ways but changed it forever for the better. It's wonderful how easy it is to find people to love.

taking off a mask to reveal what lies beneath as a romantic gesture is overdone, and besides i want to see the romantic or even platonic potential of protecting someone's identity beneath the mask, without any expectation of ever being allowed to see what's under it. picking it up and holding it gently to their face when it's knocked off and they're in danger of being exposed, without trying to catch a glimpse of what they "really" look like under there. throwing yourself in front of them to hide them from view while they put themselves back together without taking advantage or looking back to see what you're protecting. learning to read them by body language, tone of voice, and behaviour so well that you never need to see their face to feel like you know and understand them.

literally following me, and having similar things to yap about. it's very easy i fear, but i will forewarn that i'm not here very often anymore, so it's easy to let a conversation drop even when i don't mean to.

i also don't remember much of how i became mutuals with some of my other friends, but i know it really just had to do with a fandom we both enjoyed, and possibly yelling about something extra niche (like assigning desi music to our ships)

hmmm it depends a lot on what i'm reading, but blanket ones are just. outright racism/transphobia/homophobia (as in, a piece of work that's practically an essay on why people shouldn't have rights, if that makes sense? not if those things are a "plot device" or part of villain-ry or something)

this is a nitpicky one but i usually don't read fics that have huge double spacing and formatting errors, because my brain gets stuck on that. when i copy-paste my fics from google docs, i always have to go back and delete the double spacing errors because of it, which becomes my final ao3 edit before posting

i also don't read fics that are just. one full paragraph of 2k words. again because i get stuck on it. sometimes my browser's reading mode will fix it and it'll become more accessible but sometimes that's just too much work if i'm zooming through a fic in the 0.3 seconds i have before another task awaits me.
