ftm/radfem solidarity is the future. female human beings are oppressed as a class, regardless of gender identity. transmascs are included in my feminism. as a butch, i view transmascs as my brothers - i am pretty badly dysphoric myself and i ID'd as transmasc for a long time.
as a feminist i am heavily critical of transition as a treatment for dysphoria. of course i fully believe in the bodily autonomy of dysphoric adults and if you genuinely, truly believe transition is the best option for you, i believe that it's your right to do as you wish with your own body. i also firmly believe in the bettering of trans healthcare, including fully informed consent, further research on the long-term effects of cross-sex hormones on the body, doctors providing trans healthcare (especially surgeries) being held to higher standards than they are currently.
transmascs are still oppressed as females, and yes, i know exactly how visceral and uncomfortable it can be to think of yourself as female when you're dealing with dysphoria, but we do ourselves no favors by denying the reality we face. solidarity between transmascs, GNC women, and butches is how we get each other out of the utter mess we're in. we have to be able to recognize our shared experiences.
to any transmascs/FTMs scrolling my blog: i will call you what you ask to be called. i will treat you with respect. you have a place here, even if you feel like you might not. you will not be mocked, belittled, or told that you need to change. and even if you're here to say something nasty to me, i will still advocate for your rights and safety, because you are my brother and i will fight for you no matter what.

as i peeked around leaves and found this Charaxes jasius eating its own molt, it immediately stopped and stood there like this. knowing the average activity level of this species though, i'm unsure whether it looked this embarrassed because of the fact that its meal sounds kinda gross when you're not a caterpillar or the fact that it was seen moving and performing actions

Of course men finally acknowledge the inevitability of male violence when males are the potential victims. When women are the potential victims, it's "not all men" and "maybe we should teach men to behave better then!!" But when males are the victims, suddenly everyone understands that male sexual violence is basically an unstoppable force that can be reliably predicted to happen and no amount of teaching or asking nicely or setting boundaries is going to change that.
It's been said before but I'll say it again: Terf is a term that was coined by men to condemn women who refuse to go along with the misogynistic idea that a male can become a woman. It is a misleading slur with the goal of publicly ostracizing and shaming women, framing them as cold-hearted, uneducated bitches for not happily welcoming their oppressors into their circles.
for a long time i didn't believe this but the recent wikipedia debacle, where they changed the title of the article on gender critical feminism to "trans-exclusionary radical feminism," convinced me.
this isn't true. they had to change it to focus on the trans angle because gender critical feminism as described by gc feminists themselves is too unobjectionable. transgenderism and queer theory are almost incidentally rejected by gender criticism, because gender criticism dispenses with all belief in an inherently gendered soul which gives rises to prescribed roles and restrictions. it just so happens that transgenderism doesn't square that difference so we don't accept it as a solution and are not willing to pretend that sex can be changed or is relevant enough to identity to need to be changed; we don't care about men in dresses beyond cases where they insist they're women. we encourage a society where men wear dresses if they want. big whoop.
yet they leave out of the article the transgender concept of the body and brain "matching" which is shared with the right-wing traditional gender movement. funny that.
i could almost vainly think that one of their editors saw where i wrote on another blog that the gender criticism article as it stood a few years ago helped peak me, because i noticed it was talking about gc being transphobic but without giving examples of the transphobia or of the criticism of traditional gender. i thought that was suspicious, so i went right to the source and found the entire article was a misrepresentation.
the thing is some people will say things like its ok to 'have a genital preference' but you just shouldnt call yourself gay/lesbian because those words refer to gender. so like ok what r we supposed to call ourselves then. what is the word for a person who is only attracted to someone with the same primary sex characteristics as them. what word can we use that you won't wrinkle your nose in disgust at. why are you even bothering to pretend its the word you have a problem with and not just the actual fucking homosexuality of it all.
"its ok to have a preference but you should examine why you have that preference" what if we dont know. what if its just there, solid and fixed and unchangeable, and we don't know why, we just know that it is? is that a good enough answer? or do we have to keep examining it and dwelling on it do we have to keep going until we figure out some "cause" of our homosexuality? what if we never do? what if there isn't anything? what if we're just like this? what if this can be a natural and normal and healthy way of being? is that alright by you?
