Busy thinking about a Michael Robinavitch who feels he’s been abandoned by a mom who killed herself.
Thinking about what that means for me, as i relate to Robby deeply and my tendency to joke that my father abandoned me by dying.

(tw suicide)
noah talking about how with the robby and dana scene was cut out at the finale and we found out that Robby's mom committed suicide when he was 8? And they eventually cut that off so that they can kinda save it for later seasons. THE WORLD OF HURT WE'VE UNLOCKED?
Just a note to everyone going into season 3
If you hate robby so fucking bad that he genuinely irritates you everytime you see his face then maybee you should find a new show to watch because he IS the main character of the show no matter what you want to say
idk what episode but i remember near the end of s1 when that car ran into the gurneys and it shocked everyone who was outside but i remember replaying that scene because i swear that robby gripped both parker and john and sort of pulled them behind him, and i swear it was done in instinct because he was looking at that car in shock, and it just makes me so !!!! emotional because god wdym his instincts were to protect his kids wdym he was using himself to cover them wdym he was pushing them out of harm’s way wdym
Wanted to add the video but apparently I can't, so here's the GIFs instead. It's S1E14.
genuinely i think everyone would be so much happier if we simply accepted that fanfiction isn’t supposed to be realistic at all, it’s just supposed to make you happy. these freaks are currently 20k words into pining for each other while living under the same roof and working the same job, fuck realism tbh
watching robby cry is so heartbreaking because he always looks like a little kid being yelled at for crying: im imagining when robby cries in front of jack he tries to hide it or leave so jack doesn’t have to deal with him but instead jack holds him tight & keeps repeating that he loves robby, that he’s not mad at him
all the rights that come with marriage you should be able to have without marriage btw. you should be able to designate a person who can visit you in the hospital regardless of your relationship to that person.
okay I'm saying this as someone who adores both baran and robby...
baran opening up to robby, showing her vulnerability in hopes of a response, was complete optimistic idealism and loneliness driven desperation. which is DELICIOUS as a character moment, but I see way too many people not understanding... duh... it was likely to fail?
oh robby is so big and bad and evil for taking it poorly. on the first day he's ever met this woman. this woman that is in cahoots with management whom he hates, the same management that loves to fuck him over. who is at first a stranger, and at the end of the day, at BEST an acquaintance. who is delivering some pretty important information like two seconds before he leaves on the I'm Gonna Kill Myself trip.
the thing about pitt characters, the general population in fact, is that they're all kinda... little kids. we're all little kids. ESPECIALLY traumatized individuals. with baran, a hurt child resides in her, one who was never truly accepted, and looking to this man for that acceptance. in robby, however, is not acceptance, it's not a father, it's another little kid, and this one has been having his abandonment issues triggered all day by the woman who is labeled his "replacement."
now, of course, they're both fully grown, autonomous adults. they're both capable of many things, they're both intelligent. but that doesn't mean they don't have a hurt inner child peeking out all day, both triggered to shit in their own right. robby's emotions are completely dysregulated. he does not have the CAPACITY to have a therapy speak moment with any character. baran is feeling extra sensitive and stripped of any safeguarding walls.
yes, you have to extend vulnerability in order to receive it, which is clearly what baran was hoping for. baran's idealism is an endearing character trait and a big part of her, but it can and will and has hurt her. robby used to be much more idealistic, (implied) but is incredibly burnt out. it was never going to end well. he's not evil and he's not malicious. he's broken. plus again I feel like people forget this is literally their first day of meeting there is no trust built between them baran had to take a leap of faith and it unfortunately did not work out.
sometimes i get sad about the fact that the fandom is so wrapped up in made-up drama with no basis in reality and discourse about fanon that there is almost NO conversation about the ACTUAL political parts of the pitt. so much criticism and no actual discussion of the pitt’s points about ice, about misdiagnosis of women and poc, about the fucked up insurance systems in the us, about deportations, about child abuse, about mental health, about suicide, about addiction, about federal funding cuts towards programs that benefit people of color, LIKE. you wanna talk about the pitt’s politics but instead of talking about ANY of that you wanna make shit up instead oh okay
i firmly believe that one of the reasons tumblr latched onto project hail mary so hard is because we're all so obsessed with the dead wife trope lately and grace is his own dead wife. half of the book/film is grace experiencing a dead wife montage about himself and that's beautiful to me
I feel like simply calling JK Rowling a transphobe isn't strong enough anymore. Like. This is not your grandpa calling you by your deadname at a restaurant kind of transphobic. This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.
It's not about cancelling a problematic writer. It's about literally trying to save lives by denying her as much money and power as possible.
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
What do you think you're trying to understand about your story?
Dimension 20: Neverafter — Episode 9, “Origins”
#the allegory to Black boyhood Lou brought to this character is simply unmatched by any other adaptation of pinocchio. it's That Good.
The first rule of fandom is have fun. The second rule of fandom is find an enabler and become an enabler. Yes you should write that fic. What if it was even hornier? What if it was angstier? What if you wrote it just for me?
I'm literally looking for an enabler right now. Please. Enable me.
I still remember the period of time where a good chunk of robby hate was right after finding out his mother abandoned him and it was a whoollee bunch of "even she knew his vibe was rancid" like that's such an awful thing to say I'm sorry wtf was that 😭😭
like no idc that you hate him that type of sentiment is not reaching fictional character michael robinavitch. you're not hurting him with that. it's reaching people with mental health struggles who've been abandoned by their parents and are hearing yeah maybe your parents leaving was your fault because your "vibe is rancid"
Rabbot who - even way before dating - constantly get themselves into "there is only one bed" situations deliberately.
One too many beers at Robby's? Jack can’t walk home and the couch fucking sucks. At first they pretend to be reluctant, but it quickly turns into one grunting "sleep?" and both heading towards Robby's bedroom like there was never another option.
Medical conference? One room is easier anyway. "Oh, brother, I was sure I booked two twins." Jack never does. He stops using that excuse after the third time.
Jack's day off so he wasn’t there to see Robby at handover? Jack's place is walking distance from the hospital. Robby is just too tired to take his bike, he tells himself, Jack would be mad if he did. So what if he uses his spare key and when all the lights are still off, he simply strips his scrubs and crawls into Jack's bed.
Steve functioning as Corroded Coffin's manajor a while after he starts dating Eddie. He doesn't really mean to start doing it, but after a certain point he just kinda begins to help. Smoothes over disputes. Supplies snacks because god knows they need it between yelling at each other and pouring their souls into their instruments. He figures out their schedules and begins supplying them with practice days that actually make sense. All his knowledge of caring for other people and organizing and being a "team leader" in sports. He puts it all right back into helping his boyfriend's band. At some point he actually puts together their gigs. A good word from someone with the Harringto name, a bit of funds associated with it, and a lot of charm to the owners of bars around town. Steve gladly opens the door for them to be proffessional, and even start getting big. It's a natural decision when he starts managing the band's funds as well. Sure, he never really was interested in putting what his father taught him to use, but being able to track and chart and organize is a great skill now that he's waist deep in managing the band. It shocks him when he overhears the conversation. ("Dude, I get that he's your boyfriend and he's helping out of the good of his heart, but we really should be paying him." "Yeah Ed, and maybe also try not to break his heart. Seriously. I don't think I can go back to a life without Harrington brand homemade brownies." "Do you always think with your stomach?" "Do you think at all?" "Guys- Guys calm down!" He hears Eddie laughing "Don't worry, I'm sorting it out. Kinda hard to figure out how to pay someone when they're the one tracking your budget." There's a pause. "And I'd never break his heart. I love him. I'm in for the long haul... it's really only a matter if he is." Steve feels his heart swell at the tone of pure honesty and affection. Yeah, maybe he want's to do this for the rest of his life.)
