Never been about me
A poll for Firefox users
I use up-to-date Firefox and I have used the AI kill switch
I use up-to-date Firefox and I have turned off some AI features but not all
I use up-to-date Firefox and I have not turned off any AI features
I use up-to-date Firefox and didn't know you could turn off AI features
I use an older version of Firefox with no AI features
I don't use Firefox
For Firefox users who weren't aware of the AI kill switch, type about:preferences#ai into the address bar, and you should see this:
Note that, on mobile at least, this DOES NOT turn off the AI Summaries feature. To turn that feature off you need to go to Summaries and toggle the separate switch:
Also eagle eyed viewers may note that if you don't turn it off it is automatically set to give you an AI summary if you shake your device which, for clumsy people like me who are constantly dropping the bitch, is like the opposite of a good feature.
It's very hard to have an open mind to these changes when i hold the book so close to my heart. However i am really enjoying the season!

how daniel molloy feels after trying to conduct an accurate interview about vampires, but his subjects are louis de pointe du lack of information, lestat de lyingcourt, armanipulator, and claudead.
They day I won't reblog this...
If you're comfortable accusing anyone of faking disability, you're not a real ally to disabled people
One time when I was a kid a group of girls and I had to treat another student for hypothermia by ourselves because she had so many invisible health issues that the adults we asked for help didn't believe us. The student in question was actively hallucinating. When I finally ran for help the people I grabbed were slow as shit to respond, casually joking about how "dramatic" the person in question was.
The kid was picked up by an ambulance 30 minutes later.
Now as an adult working in security I get SO MANY folks- upper-middle aged mostly- coming to me to 'rat out' people they think are faking it.
I was once sent into a bathroom because a client demanded that the "fucker won't get out, so go drag them out"- I was NEVER going to do that, so I did a wellness check instead. You know who it was? A person recently released from the hospital after a car accident. They had a hole in their skull and major hearing loss. They couldn't answer the owner because they couldn't HEAR the owner.
Another time about a homeless man who got around town by kicking the ground from his wheelchair. "You know he doesn't actually need that thing, his legs work fine, it's just for pity points"- Oh, so he's not paralyzed, his wheelchair is performative? Funny story Dale, I actually know that guy, he was backed over by a truck and has chronic pain from his shattered pelvis. But sure, let's make him stand up and walk everywhere so nobody feels too bad for him and tries to help him or something.
"She doesn't need that scooter, I've seen her get out of it."
"Look how fat he is, because he just rides around and refuses to get up."
"She doesn't really need that cane- she comes here without it all the time"
Sincerely, truly, from the bottom of my heart- as someone who isn't physically disabled but hears this shit all the time- fuck off
voracious lovers
i do think it’s also a bit poetic, all the men who’ve hurt claudia all get to forgive eachother, while she’s dead and nothing can change that. even when season 2’s ending has a much more fulfilling ending than that of the first book, the fact that even seventy years later after her death, and her memory is still being used to either absolve louis’s guilt or being exploited comercially, that leaves an empty and withering feeling inside.
louis and lestat get to grieve and hug, for a moment atleast. louis and armand get to smile at eachother at the auction. lestat’s not talking to louis because of the book yet the man who published the book without louis’s consent is “dan”. and i guess lestat’s also chill with sam barclay, the man who wrote the baby lulu plays, the minstrel shows that killed her passion for performing, who also wrote the script for the trial next to santiago.
it poses a personally interesting question to me, do these vampires ever truly change? can cycles be broken if you’re immortal? are you bound to fall back into your old habits? are they frozen in the same dispositions they have when they were turned? states of fear, or grief, or arousal? will they continue to hurt claudia long after her death?
"it was raining" "never fucking happened" "im not a harlequin" i need 30 more mins of lestat reacting to iwtv book
I wish I could make white people(and not just white Americans) understand how diverse the pre-columbian Americas were. The history, religion, culture, politics was at least as complex as Europe's. There was the full gamut of religions, from monotheists to animists to ancestral religions. There were city building empires, village farmers, nomadic traders, and so many other ways to live. This is all just based on what we know, the fragments left behind and the stories of survivors of an apocalyptic plague. All this before the most extended campaign of genocide in history was waged in an attempt to wipe out those survivors.
Over 500 years spent trying to cut down a whole trunk of human culture.
Do you understand how much poorer our whole species is because of it? Can you imagine where art, religion, and science would be if we still had these vast bodies of knowledge? The stain of the colonial project will never be fully washed clean. We owe more than just the land to those we stole from. We owe them a whole future, a future that could have been brighter for all of us. If only greed and fear weren't allowed to rule this land.
