[image ID: Text reading Texas State Aquarium staff stated that the animals have been getting a little restless. One of the employees had an idea to let some of the land animals spend time with some of the sea animals, and it has worked out brilliantly.
Putting the sloths near the dolphins was the biggest surprise of all. The dolphins are absolutely delighted with the sloths, and the sloths, normally very quiet animals, have been squeaking replies back to the dolphins for hours at a time. Who would have guessed these two species would be such a great match?
There is a photo of two dolphins in a large pool, their heads peeking out above the water to look at a brown sloth, who is hanging on a branch. End ID]
As alien species encounters go, this is like the absolute best possible outcome
okay i am going to reach into my sociology knowledge bank to try and briefly explain a thing because a lot of understandings seem to be, to some degree, misinformed:
what the wage/pay gap isn’t: an employer literally handing seventy-seven cents to a (white) woman and one dollar to a (white) man. i mean, c’mon. think a little harder.
what the wage/pay gap is: the consistent pattern of the average of men’s incomes (both in general and in specific fields) being higher than the average of women’s incomes (this is the basis of the seventy-seven cents to a dollar model). no, this pattern is not caused by ~women’s choices.~ it is linked to several different (STRUCTURAL; again, NOT choice) factors, including (but not limited to): men being more likely to receive promotions and therefore move higher up the ladder (glass ceiling [glass escalator in female-dominated jobs]); occupational sex segregation, which sees men and women within the same field tracked towards different roles that typically place men higher up in terms of status and pay than women; gendered socialization forces that encourage men towards subjects that lead to higher paying fields (such as STEM fields) and women towards subjects that lead to lower paying fields (such as humanities, liberal arts, et cetera); the devaluation of “feminized” (read: female-dominated) jobs that results in lower pay in those fields (check out the history of teaching for very stark proof of this); continued gender expectations rooted in traditional patriarchal roles that encourage (and, frequently, push) mothers to take more time away to raise and care for children while encouraging fathers to do the opposite; the motherhood penalty, which is the phenomenon of employers seeing mothers as automatically less dedicated to work and therefore choosing not to hire/promote them (there is no fatherhood penalty; studies have found that fathers are actually seen as better job candidates)(this also affects women who are not mothers because employers view them as people who will inevitably become mothers and will therefore be less dedicated, etc) and so on and so forth.
(it’s also super important to remember that the gaps become even wider when race is factored in, meaning that women of color earn even less than white women in comparison to white men).
Gilmore Girls characters as JOHN MULANEY quotes
polyamorus bi people do not uphold stereotypes, they are not bad people, their love is not ‘problematic’, and if you think so you don’t truly support bi people
people existing is not upholding stereotypes. It isn't the job of actual real people living the life that makes them the happiest, to rewrite cishet judgements, that's their job to unlearn.
Reblog if you agree!
It's okay to be a man who...
Is emotionally sensitive
Is honest about having feelings
Is open about having flaws
Likes cute and pretty things
Likes dressing in cute and pretty things
Is delicate
Is elegant
Is unsure whether it’s okay to be those things
Dances and sings with enthusiasm and heart
Empathizes with the feelings and experiences of others
Admits being wrong
Cries
And it’s understandable that you’re afraid to show all of that to a world that seems determined to erase it from you.
No matter what they say, you are who you are.
Okay, hot take? Bisexual and pansexual are functionally synonyms, and the decision to ID as one or the other comes down to personal preference and interpretation, and any attempt to further separate the two is driving a wedge between two communities that should have nothing but love and solidarity for one another.
We have more in common than not, and the words for our respective identities should not be pitted against each other.
Yeah with overlapping identities like this I just go for whichever one I like the pride flag the most.
That’s so valid.
There is a distinction between pansexual and bisexual but it is a very fine line, so fine that people who fit the definition for pansexual better may ID as bisexual instead for a variety of personal reasons and vice versa. But there is a distinction and acting like they are perfect synonyms can be quite invalidating.
Bisexual - attraction to multiple genders where gender is a factor within the attraction, and can include a preference for one gender over another, or attraction that feels different when it’s directed at a specific gender.
Pansexual- attraction to people regardless of gender. Gender is not a factor, you’d expect a blanket sensation of attraction regardless of which gender it is attracted to, and no sense of intuitive gender preference (though perhaps a logical one).
Notice that neither of these definitions actually exclude transgender or non-binary people and arguing otherwise is biphobic and transphobic. But there is still a distinction - practically, the issues they face and the relationships they will end up in are the same, but emotionally and subjectively they feel different.
Me reading the first post: I totally agree 100% quit telling me that calling myself bisexual means I’m transphobic
Me reading post four: OH I never heard that distinction before. Being attracted to masculine ppl DOES feel different to me than being attracted to feminine ppl. It never occurred to me that pansexual people experienced attraction different from me in that way. Today I have learned something.
Okay, so this is a better explanation than I have seen before, and I’m really glad it crossed my dash. *throws love and support @ my bi and pan friends across the globe bc they’re all valid*
yall i just found the funniest thing on the harry potter wiki
There’s also the general problem with the idea of speaking Parseltongue.
Snakes are deaf.
maybe JK Rowling don’t know anything about snakes
Seriously, No need to cheat and hurt people nowadays. Want to have multiple partners speak up! Want to be monogamous so be it but don’t cheat. There’s plenty of open minded people willing to share your love and affection. There’s no need to lie about wanting monogamy, you’ll end up being okay with it for a while and eventually lust over others and hurt people during the process. Love freely or be committed to one, simple as that.

@bittergayvvitch
So this post was originally made on September 11th 2020. I am reblogging on September 13th of the same year. At the time my computer first loaded this post it was at ten-thousand-one-hundred-and-eighty-two notes. By the time I’d scrolled down to it and chose to open it in a new tab so I could check when it was originally made, it had increased to 10,191 notes. When I noticed this as I was preparing to reblog, I reloaded the page and found that the number had reached 10,198.
What I’m sayig is that somewhere, someone’s mother is quite likely approaching the realization that they may actually be compelled to live up to their end of this little bargain.
I am now about to hit reblog, but before I do I’m reloading the page one last time. In the time it has taken me to type this, the number has reached 10,205.
were only 1/10 th of the way there but yeah, my mom is kinda scared now
Haha yeah we're getting you a dagger.

Ok but there was this guy called Ea-nasir who was a total crook and would actually cheat people ought of good copper and sell them shit instead. The amount of correspondences complaining to and about this guy are HILARIOUS.
Are you telling me we know about a specific guy who lived 5000 years ago, by name, because he was a huge asshole
More like 4000 years ago but yes. Ea-nasir and his dodgy business deals.
And we haven’t even touched on the true hilarity of the situation yet. Consider two additional facts:
He wasn’t just into copper trading. There are letters complaining about Ea-nasir’s business practices with respect to everything from kitchenwares to real estate speculation to second-hand clothing. The guy was everywhere.
The majority of the surviving correspondences regarding Ea-nasir were recovered from one particular room in a building that is believed to have been Ea-nasir’s own house.
Like, these are clay tablets. They’re bulky, fragile, and difficult to store. They typically weren’t kept long-term unless they contained financial records or other vital information (which is why we have huge reams of financial data about ancient Babylon in spite of how little we know about the actual culture: most of the surviving tablets are commercial inventories, bills of sale, etc.).
But this guy, this Ea-nasir, he kept all of his angry letters - hundreds of them - and meticulously filed and preserved them in a dedicated room in his house. What kind of guy does that?
[ source ]
Okay, but imagine from the other guy’s point of view. You send angry letters about how Ea-nasir shipped you half a ton of subpar copper, and then 3800 years later—
History: you are without a doubt the worst business man ive ever heard of
Ea-nasir:
