After years of fighting, the resistance was finally on the winning side. Of course it was only a matter of time before the Supreme knew they were betrayed.

Their revenge?

Destroying the traitors, Shadybug and Claw Noir.

Trapped in a magical coma using the power of jubilation, they are slowly descending into madness, reliving moments in their mind.

In an act of desperation, Betterfly was forced to wipe the memories of Shadybug and Claw Noir so that they could live the rest of their lives as normal teenagers.

What he didn’t know was that Shadybug was pregnant at the time.

He's 18"/46cm tall, freehanded, took way more hours to make than I've ever put into a single project before, and I'm absolutely in love with how he came out. I'm not sure fandom babies understand how much info they generally get on fics on AO3. Especially the ones who complain about certain kinds of content. TIME WAS YOU COULD NEVER KNOW IF THERE WOULD BE SHIT YOU DIDN'T LIKE IN FICS.

Like, okay, take this header from a fic I loved in LotR fandom back in 2002, on the LotR forum/website I preferred:

That provides... essentially no info on what's actually in the fic, y'know? It's 6 chapters and appears to mostly be about Frodo and Pippin, and it's rated G, but other than that, take a risk, right?

This was actually an extremely in-depth fic header at the time. There were a lot of people who didn't bother adding notes, word counts, or even characters of focus. "Warnings" was an optional entry, and I only bothered adding it bc the fic had significant spoilers for an episode that had aired recently. There are other things I'd tag on it now, but those weren't "tagged" at the time by most people.

Like, it was controversial that a fic challenge community I was in on LJ in '07 or so took down a fic someone submitted because they didn't warn for sexual assault. Because we had no rule about being required to warn.

AO3 should not censor content posted to it, but I have not seen a fic in YEARS that doesn't have more info about the content of a 100 word drabble than I would've ever given for a 4k word fic back in the day. Not because I specifically had bad habits, but because WE DID NOT PROVIDE THAT INFO AT THAT TIME.

And on the one hand I'm glad that you always had this quality of tagging, but on the other fuck you for acting like it's not fabulously thorough for asking if there's common triggers in it.

Note that this one warns you for "Dark Zutara" but you have ZERO idea from this description what that dark could entail. You'd have to open the fic to find out, hoping that there was an authors note.

These examples are also not only tagless, but come from before tags were invented. Like as a concept on the internet, as something regular people use. They did not exist yet. Filters did but only barely, and for fic they were next to useless without tagging or some other elaborate system that, guess what, AO3 was eventually the one to come up with. They did not invent tags, but they figured out a way to use them that made the filtering mean something. AO3 is the only reason it's even possible to be this nitpicky about content, and to complain about the very thing that allows you to be this much of a purity cop is the height of folly.

Softcoded subtitles with customizable and variable locations on the screen are so the text doesn't cover the good bits of porn. Touchscreen phones are because getting rid of mechanical cell phone keypads allows for a bigger screen, for a better view of porn. Incognito mode, deletable browser history, and lockable personal internet devices are to make it harder for people to snoop on others' preferred porn.

And many other things, of course. As with disability accessibility innovations, once it exists it's got lots of unrelated uses. But PayPal and Patreon wanting sex work (such as selling porn) off their platforms now, having long since gotten enough quote-unquote respectable business to survive such a financial setback, doesn't erase that they couldn't have gotten started without sex workers. And AO3's tagging folksonomy that libraries and archives are jealous of the world over? Fandom really likes being able to find extra-niche porn.

Any other definitions are made by antis, not proshippers, and are an attempt at revisionism to justify harassment based on false claims.

Incorrect. We had shippers and then people started calling themselves "anti-shippers", and pro-ship and anti-anti arose to mean "not an anti-shipper". That's all it's ever meant. It means not being an anti-shipper. Anti-shippers are trying to redefine it as meaning "problematic shipper" in order to try to gain rhetorical high ground by trying to give the impression that anyone who's not an anti-shipper is specifically writing underage rape porn and selling it to child abusers or something, but that has never been the case.

Some proshippers write about underage ships. Some write about gay ships. Some write the kind of generic romance that you'll find in an average romcom, with one character being the other's boss. Some write ships that not even the most obsessive puritan antis could find a firm moral reason to object to. Some, like me, don't write about sex at all and tend not to write about romantic relationships very much either, but firmly hold the stance that others should be allowed to write those things if they want.

Do you despise underage sex scenes? Does the very concept of them make you throw up in your mouth a little? Me too! I find them fucking disgusting! You know what I do about it?

I... don't read them. I certainly don't participate in hate campaigns to threaten, doxx or suicide bait random authors for writing stuff I don't like. That doesn't achieve anything. That doesn't protect any children. All it is is an excuse to bully someone and tell yourself that it's okay to feel righteous and powerful about it because people Deserve It if they write the fictional story wrong.

God I remember watching Voltron and Star Wars kick off into new depths of what being an anti meant.

We had shippers and gen fans and antis. Anti this ship, or anti that ship. And then somewhere things changed - I know it from Voltron but who knows, maybe someone else got there first - but ship wars went from being “your ship sucks” to “your ship involves someone two years younger so the age difference means it’s pedophilia”. “One character said the other is like a brother to him so your ship is incest.” Or my favorite from my old fandom, “that character is possessing someone so your ship is necrophilia AND noncon”.

It always involved rewriting definitions so that there was a reason the anti’s ship was pure and the ship they hated was morally wrong.

I remember years of adult antis showing younger fans what they considered “bad” material so the kids could report it. Adults deliberately showing kids explicit art or fic to encourage kids to search it out and try and get it deleted. I can go grab receipts, it’s not hard because it happened so much.

Anti antis became a part of the ecosystem to push back on harassment campaigns and doxxing and all the other toxic nonsense that came from the ship wars. Proshippers were the group that said “I won’t stand for censorship” and usually tried not to get into the fighting the way anti antis did.

It never stood for problematic.

Unless you count pushing back on thought crime and censorship to be a problem, in which case we have a very different problem to discuss.

This whole thing seems absurd to me because I remember when th word "problematic" emerged as a less judgemental term to use when discussing people's behaviour. The whole point was to not categorise something as good or bad because that immediately put you in a frame of mind that was resistant to nuance.
