Did you know that most hospitals and some doctor’s offices are what is known as a 501r, or “medical non-profit”? 

This means they are legally required to have a “financial aid policy” or “charity care policy” 

What is means, is that they are LEGALLY REQUIRED under United States Law to provide FREE OR DISCOUNTED healthcare, and also to FORGIVE EXISTING MEDICAL DEBT to individuals with financial difficulty. 

Basically, every household making und $100K a year is eligible for a reduction in their medical costs. 

Billing departments often try to push people to get on a “payment plan” if someone asks, but don’t accept it! 

Ask if they have a Charity Care or Financial Aid policy “Based On Income.” 

If it looks like you might not qualify? 

Apply anyway. They try to scare people away with scary processes. 

YOU QUALIFY. EVEN IF YOU ARE ALREADY IN COLLECTIONS.

My dad and I used to watch worst cooks in America and I’m still haunted by a time a guy made a perfectly acceptable dish and Anne Burrell told him there wasn’t enough salt and he was like my personal preference is not for that much salt. You seem to like food with a lot of salt in it. And she replied “no I like food that tastes good.”

Anne, can I call you Anne? Some of us actually don’t like eating food that’s half salt by volume. It is a preference thing.

Some people think that because they went to culinary school that their personal tastes are always right.

Some of us don’t care about fresh cracked pepper. Like. The way some people view food is starting to get on my nerves. It didn’t used to but after years of being online and sharing recipes and personal food tips now I’ve been worn down about it and it just pisses me off now. Acting like your personal preferences are the objective correct answer is just like. Just stop.

Like the pineapple on pizza thing. I hate pineapple in general. It’s one of the few foods out there that I cannot stand under any circumstances. I hate it. Obviously I hate pineapple on pizza. But a lot of people like it. And that has no bearing on my life. Just put less salt on things if that’s your preference. Try to be safe.

Cutting something out of your life because you think you don't need it any more only to realize that it was in fact working as intended and preventing a problem that will return should you stop doing this is a good experiment to run periodically with something small like dandruff shampoo, lest you start to think it would be a good idea to do this with like let's say public health and the social safety net and vaccines
