walking thru the streets late at night would be so Good and calming if I didnât have to be scared of every man and car I see after 8pm
I just left my husband alone with our two children for sixteen days. I was not worried about anything regarding the house, their food, or their wellbeing. I put all the appointments in the family calendar and my husband checked it and kept them. I literally did not worry about them. I missed them, and I was sad that they missed me, but I didnât worry about them AT ALL. I need to impress upon you all that I missed their company, but was not worried for their welfare.
I also did no meal prep. I donât even think I went shopping right before I left.
This is not about apples and oranges. This isnât even about my husband. This is about the fact that this is apparently WEIRD.
Another mum at my daughterâs school is leaving for ten days. Sheâs taking her youngest (who is a very small baby) and leaving her husband with their two girls. She has been cooking for days preparing freezer meals. Sheâs panicking and deputizing her six year old to remind him how to make school lunches. AND I AM APPALLED.
A) He is definitely not helpless. (Heâs a doctor or something.) What gendered bullshit. B) THAT LITTLE GIRL IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HER AND HER SISTERâS WELLBEING. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. C) Why is she married to this person and creating children with him if heâs this big of an idiot?
While she was laughingly recounting this, the other mums were nodding and smiling sympathetically, like oh yes, I too have my caveman at home!! Such managing required! I was the only one who was like âDude, heâll be fine. Literally. He will be fine.â I said it a lot. She was not convinced. She kept bringing up her older daughter. Sheâll be like a little mum!
NO.
NO NO NO NO.
NO.
Straight women, donât do this shit. Itâs gross. Donât infantilize your husbands and then expect your daughters to pick up the slack. So fucking gross. So. So. GROSS.
The fact that so many adults think a six year old girl is more capable of learning and performing basic domestic tasks than a grown-ass man says it all, really.Â
Donât infantilize your husbands and then expect your daughters to pick up the slack.Â
Frankly the fact that men take no offense to this shows that this MRA shit is not actually about equality and respect but instead deference! In fact, most âredpillâ moments are actually just times women did not immediately gratify the man and he became aware that was an option for them.
I just learned about the âHusband Stitchâ a few days ago and iâm still fucking mortified. Womenâs bodies do not exist for the pleasure of their boyfriends or husbands.
Doctors who perform this procedure without the consent of the pregnant person are evil misogynists, undeserving of the privilege of working with pregnant women and other people.
Oh my god, nooooo.
If this is done incorrectly (and yes, I know someone this was done incorrectly to) it makes sex really uncomfortable, like realllly uncomfortable, and can require follow-up surgery to fix. The person I know who this was done to ended up with the, uh, outside getting the âhusband stitchâ but the inside⊠not? So she ended up with a little âlipâ of tissue that would get seriously irritated during sex, and over a decade later had to have another doctor go back in and snip that âextra stitchâ open.Â
Yes, it was that bad.
I would recommend reading this article and then reading Carmen Maria Machadoâs The Husband Stich.Â
An excerpt from the above article:
I was first introduced to the husband stitch in 2014, when a friend in medical school told me about a birth her classmate observed. After the baby was delivered, the doctor said to the womanâs husband, âDonât worry, Iâll sew her up nice and tight for you,â and the two men laughed while the woman lay between them, covered in her own and her babyâs blood and feces. The story terrified me, the laughter in particular, signaling some understanding of wrongdoing, some sheepishness in doing it anyway. The helplessness of the woman, her body being altered without her consent by two people she has to trust: her partner, her doctor.
So many people donât even know what this is. The Wikipedia article on the husband stitch was published this month.Â
Just adding my voice that this is indeed real and it was done to me. I havenât enjoyed sex since I had my son and honestly Iâm concerned about having a second child because I was so âsmallâ the first time around I ended up with 3rd degree tearing.
Yes I have that same lip and the only reason I never went back to get it fixed is the conception/birth was so traumatic I couldnât bring myself to be touched like that by doctors for years.
Just, be aware and let someone advocate for you when youâre in labor. Ask your OBGYN their thoughts on this and choose carefully.
Bitch wha?!!!??
After 18 and a half hours of labor with my son, an episiotomy, I finally gave birth to my baby. I passed out from exhaustion minutes after meeting my son. I woke up some time later with this stitch. My doctor asked my (now ex) husband and he decided that I should have it. I was never asked. The stitch was done correctly but now I have to take a lot longer to âwarm upâ for sex or it hurts. It couldâve been so much worse but just the feeling of being having that decision taken from me and having the most private area of my body altered like that after such a traumatic experience is something that to this day haunts me.
This is why baby boomers think we can pay for school while having a part time job
im so mad
this is why they should all shut the hell up forever
At Target this lady told her son he couldnât have a Wonder Woman doll because âthatâs for girlsâ and then bought her daughter the same one. It got me thinking about how often I see people bar young boys from appreciating girls/women as protagonists and heroes, and my own experience with it as a kid.

SO MUCH LOVE FOR THIS HAPPY DAD
It occurred to Pooh and Piglet that they hadnât heard from Eeyore for several days, so they put on their hats and coats and trotted across the Hundred Acre Wood to Eeyoreâs stick house. Inside the house was Eeyore.
âHello Eeyore,â said Pooh.
âHello Pooh. Hello Piglet,â said Eeyore, in a Glum Sounding Voice.
âWe just thought weâd check in on you,â said Piglet, âbecause we hadnât heard from you, and so we wanted to know if you were okay.â
Eeyore was silent for a moment. âAm I okay?â he asked, eventually. âWell, I donât know, to be honest. Are any of us really okay? Thatâs what I ask myself. All I can tell you, Pooh and Piglet, is that right now I feel really rather Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All. Which is why I havenât bothered you. Because you wouldnât want to waste your time hanging out with someone who is Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All, would you now.â
Pooh looked and Piglet, and Piglet looked at Pooh, and they both sat down, one on either side of Eeyore in his stick house.
Eeyore looked at them in surprise. âWhat are you doing?â
âWeâre sitting here with you,â said Pooh, âbecause we are your friends. And true friends donât care if someone is feeling Sad, or Alone, or Not Much Fun To Be Around At All. True friends are there for you anyway. And so here we are.â
âOh,â said Eeyore. âOh.â And the three of them sat there in silence, and while Pooh and Piglet said nothing at all; somehow, almost imperceptibly, Eeyore started to feel a very tiny little bit better.
Because Pooh and Piglet were There. No more; no less.

Can we talk about how in zombie shows/movies/books they always find a veterinarian and not a surgeon? Are veterinarians deemed more likely to survive the apocalypse?
Yup.
One of our professional skills is ânot being bitten by patientsâ
We actually have a good broad knowledge base for both surgical, medical, and GP things
Weâre used to improvising equipment because a lot of stuff is just not made for animals
Meat safety is part of our training
Our cars are often full of equipment, especially in mixed practice
We probably werenât in the human hospital at the initial outbreak

You have to train ur mind to be stronger than ur feelings or ur gonna lose yourself
I think our culture has seriously messed up in how early we have caused children to start thinking about their sexualities.
no OP, youâre pissed because children are starting to think about non-straight sexualities. Many small children pretend to have hetero relationships, but if a child who is going to grow up to be gay starts to think about homosexual relationships, thatâs wrong?
I HATE the mentality that LGBT things are inherently adult. I knew I liked both genders since like age 8. Itâs not abnormal.
How the heck did you come to that conclusion from the OPs statement?
Any excuse to demonize âThe straightsâ.
bitch OP is literally an anti LGBT bloggerÂ
go to fucking sleep
They still have a valid point in their post. Children shouldnât be thinking about sexuality at all
Because children should be allowed to be children. The world is shitty and confusing so let them live in blissful childish ignorance of the bullshit they will have to soon endure for as long as they can. Iâve always known I like men and women but that doesnât mean I shouldâve been forced to think about my sexuality as a five year old kid. Make believe relationships as a child is one thing but when adults start pushing it, in any way, it shatters the glass between innocent play and reality. Thereâs no going back.
do u ever feel like youâve accidentally tricked certain people into thinking you are smarter and have more potential than you actually do and do you ever think about how disappointed theyâll be when you inevitably crash and burn
Fun fact: Impostor Syndrome is ridiculously common among high-achievers, particularly women. If you identify with this post, odds are pretty good that youâre exactly as smart as people think you are, and the failure youâre afraid of isnât inevitable at all.
Even Maya Angelou stated, âI have written 11 books, but each time I think, âUh oh, theyâre going to find out now. Iâve run a game on everybody, and theyâre going to find me out.ââ
and donât forget this is one of the psychological barriers placed in by thousands years of patriarchy and male supremacy.
My computer science professor actually talked about this on the first day, it was really cool.
Fun brutal fact: in addition to the existence of imposter syndrome, being âtwice exceptionalâ (also known as 2e) is also a thing. That means being intellectually gifted AND ALSO having a disability that affects your ability to succeed at study or work. Such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, etc etc etc. A lot of people believe that itâs not possible to be both, but it very much is.
Society tends to have very high expectations for how well gifted people will perform. Society tends to have low expectations for how well disabled people will perform. Society tends to attribute invisible disabilities, including mental illness, to a failure of willpower or effort or a bad attitude.
So if you read this post and went âno, but seriously, this is not just low self esteem on my part, people keep thinking Iâm smart and then I keep crashing and burning and disappointing them and they canât understand why I didnât live up to their expectations, it happens again and again and when I tell someone how I feel and ask for help, they just tell me to stop being so hard on myself and that Iâll succeed if I have more self-confidence,â it is not just you.
(Also, one of the previous posts in this thread buried the lede a little. Imposter syndrome is ridiculously common in people from underrepresented groups in academia and other high pressure/high status fields, particularly women and people of colour. Maya Angelou did not only feel out of place because she was a woman.)
This essay also totally changed my view on the intersection of impostor syndrome and mental illness.
People always make fun of butch womenâs appearance, but some of those big, muscular, âunfeminineâ women frequently plant their asses between other women and predatory men. Iâm speaking about the butches who have shielded me and my friends from physical harrassment when we were young and drunk and visiting gay parties for the first time. Iâm speaking about the butches who keep bathrooms a safe zone. Iâm speaking about the butches whose lesbian rage is only outshone by their infinite compassion for baby dykes.Â
Fuck your butch hate.
A long time ago, back when I was âstraight,â before my very imposing wife was even my girlfriend yet, some jerk pinned me up against the wall at a party.
I was like, âGo away,â with my eyes glued to the floor and my heart pounding, but he wouldnât. My boyfriend stood by and watched and said nothing.
She said, âHey, leave her alone, you jerk!â and the guy was like, âWhat are you gonna do to me? This isnât your business.â
Very calmly, she put her beer down, rolled up her sleeves, cracked her knuckles, and started walking towards him.
He bolted. I was amazed and I said, âWhat WERE you gonna to do him?â
âOh I dunno,â she said, âThey always run off before I get there.â
Later that night she drove me home and I threw up on her car. She still drove up to visit me in the big lonely city when I came out a year later, and her car door still made a sticky sound when I opened it.
âTrust No Butchâ my big toe.
Trust No Butch Love Every Butch
LOVE EVERY BUTCH
IM GONNA START SAYING THIS
This is some truth laid down right here boy.
Millennials have essentially been forced into a perpetual teenagerhood by socioeconomic circumstance, we desperately want to grow up, and weâre worried that weâre running out of time to do so
damn does this sting.
Can I get an amen?
Does anyone else smoke their cigarettes while chewing gum?
Iâve been told more than once that itâs weird. Iâm wondering if anyone does it.
