Fellas, is it counter revolutionary to eat.
This is a reminder that any insane extreme position can be couched in progressive sounding language to try and persuade you of its validity, even positions that are totally contrary
Having a "stupider people have done this" attitude about the things you want to do can open so many doors
I really hate the "Jerusalem is very important to three religions why would Judaism get full control of it" because its only important because thats where the JEWISH TEMPLE was and where the JUDEAN KINGS lived. just because people made religions out of fanficing Judaism means we have to give them equal slices of our own cultural history?
Early Judaism remixed elements of Babylonian and Cannanite religious beliefs and culture. King David conquered Jerusalem and colonized it from the Cannanites. We shouldnt have to respect Judaism when its just fanfiction of preexisting levantine iron age mythology.
show me the movement of canaanites trying to take back jerusalem and restore its original caananite culture and practices
1) Using the fact warring tribes conquered each other to justify hatred and cast them as morally equivalent with Colonialism is the same racist shit White people do with Indigenous peoples in the Americas.
2) Early Judaism didn’t “remix” elements of Canaanite and Babylonian religious beliefs and culture. Early Judaism was a Canaanite religion and culture, which split off and developed into its own thing, and Babylonian influence can largely be traced to the Israelites being conquered by Babylon.
This should give the game away to anyone how disingenuous this user’s argument is: Both Israelites conquering AND being conquered are twisted to serve the same narrative of Jews as foreign aberrations with nothing of their own. These are ad hoc arguments for a conclusion this person has already reached: hatred & disdain for Jews.
3) The people who lived in Jerusalem when David conquered it were the Jebusites, and they integrated into the Israelite tribes. Inasmuch as the Jebusites can be said to have modern descendants, they are modern Jews.
thank you for saying these points better than i could
Also, and this is extremely important, Jews don't have total control of Jerusalem. In fact the Temple Mount, the single most sacred location in all of Judaism and a place which is exclusively important in any other religion because of how important it is to Judaism, is literally forbidden to Jews entirely. Seriously, Jews are religiously discriminated against in favor of Muslims by Israel. In Jerusalem specifically.

well personally i think she's profoundly manipulative and not so much amoral but more possesses a very specific and deeply thought-through personal moral code that just doesn't value real or hypothetical human lives very highly, comparatively. and she's demonstrably great with people in that she can play them like instruments to further her own ends but not so much in building authentic personal relationships. and she values her goals more than any individual no matter how close those individuals think they are to her. and that's great. that's why i like her. i'm actually interested in the version of her that exists in the canon text and not the version of her fandom spawned when they decided that writing a woman who isn't perfectly nurturing and selflessly invested in the lives of the people around her is indicative of deep misogyny.

was reminded of and then felt inspired to revisit and share my favorite piece of sports writing ever, which is xan brooks' liveblog of what no one knew would turn out to be the longest match in wimbledon history. (the narrative proper starts at 4:05 p.m. although i think it's kind of nice to read through earlier updates to more fully experience the shift as the author descends into the void)
