Also-member of the "brown community" here (racist term by the way)- my family turns away fed people too. If they were hungry, maybe. Or tell their parents to be decent adults and feed their child.

Kids friend from across the street wouldnt be interupting our dinner anyway. They know to wait because that's our family time and they can play after.

If I can add without being rude, this is also a Balkan thing (keynote, I’m a Serb), with grandmothers who prepare too much food and will look at you with those puppy eyes when you tell them that you’re full.. Of course, if there’s still more food, she’d pack it up for us before departing. ;;

Bele Poklade Poklade is the Serbian name of the last day on which it’s allowed to eat meat and milk products before spring fasting (40 days before Easter) Great festivites are made on this day, and young men dress up in masks and go through the village, while villagers give them meat, cakes and eggs (which were very valued gifts in the last century in Serbian villages), and later jumped over fire. The point of these celebrations is the whorshipment of spring and driving away the evil spirits. It’s rarely practiced today, and these pictures are from 2011 from village Lozovik where young boys and girls with the help of their teachers decided to revive this custom which has roots deep in the pagan times.

anyways sorry to draw this parallel as everyone else, but as someone who grew up in post-war croatia, i know what an opressed people and an attacked people can do to the people they deem agressor. it happened to serbs over and over again. ustaše in the 30s weren't created out of nothing, they were emigrants because of severe political repression at first, and četnici in the 90s also weren't created out of thin air, it is known that months before any war began, some of our notable politicians got drunk went on a killing spree of serbs. today in croatia, serbs are still very marginalized and dehumanized in the political space or in everyday lives, even tho many of them actually helped us on our side of the war. when was 10, my friend at the time told be she hated all serbs. she was 10. we had cases of teens burning serbian villages and masking it as summer fires. children getting supposed revenge for something that happened in a time they were not alive for because their parents were so traumatized by the war and passed it on to them. it's an awful circle all the way around. so because i live in croatia and i see it happen all the time, i'm just asking you to please keep russians in mind at this time as well. in the 90s plenty serbs were protesting their government as well, but everyone else tries to forget it in order to demonize an entire nation. neither serbs, nor russians now deserve this. don't assign the role of an agressor to entire peoples who are also very much suffering under the same government. and DO NOT excuse nationalism and fascism in any time, esp in war. today in croatia fascists are holding us hostage because of their supposed "defender" status, which they can count on because of how present the last war is in our conscience, their children get priviledges over others (literally abt high school enrollment, along with many other things), it's awful

@idratherbebaking this is simply not true. While there are countless stories of women being denied sterilization procedures over the years, there are just as many who are willing to do these procedures because they understand it is about choice. Some US states have set laws that you have to be 18, others as old as 21. My cousin got her tubes tied at 18 with no issues, and a colleague got hers tied at 23 after having to shop around for doctors who would do it. It depends largely on where in the US the person lives.

To the main point: there is no magical cosmic wall of baby souls. There is no Department of Mysteries for baby souls. A soul doesn't dry up and flake away when someone decides to not give birth. Ffs I hope this is fake.
