Shadowhunters, terrorizing magnus sine 1666
Alec: Rafa, clean your room
Rafa: No one will tell what to do!
Magnus: If I have to stand up from my chair...
Rafa: Cleaning!
Clary, to Ash: Your father was a good person, if you ignore all the things he did on purpose and concentrate on all of the things he did by accident.
into the idea of magnus doing grand romantic gesture for alec, like building him his own taj mahal. he disappear for weeks then show up like alexander dearest my love i have a gift for you and it a fricking mausoleum. alec all what the hell magnus please tell me you're renting this and didn't just buy it randomly what am i gonna do with a mausoleum. magnus goes nope it a secret third option he actually build it by himself
it always strikes me how apparent the development in Simon's character becomes near the end of CoG because it happens so quietly throughout the book. I barely even notice it until I've made it to the last few chapters and he's facing off Raphael on his own and fighting on Brocelind and I'm like oh... oh this is a completely different Simon.
and then I think back and realise there were so many moments earlier in the book that signalled his growth. Simon standing in the Penhallow's living room where Aline doesn't even bother disguising her contempt for him and Jace is being mean and he doesn't let it get to him. when Jace wants to break him out of jail and he refuses because he knows the consequences will extend to the others. Simon doesn't take the bait when Jace directs him sarcastic remarks after Max' funeral; he understands Jace is grieving and his behaviour towards him is nothing personal. he takes it upon himself to go talk to Izzy when she won't let anyone else in her room. Clary tells him she's in love with Jace and he doesn't get jealous: he says he's glad him and Clary tried even if it didn't work out. he is able to describe matter-of-factly the moment he realised that Jace was in love with Clary, and empathises that it was killing him. he convinces Clary to mark him and states clearly that he is part of all of this and she needs to let him take on his responsibilities.
he is learning to acknowledge the fact that he's a vampire, not just a mundane who happens to drink blood and hangs out with shadowhunters. he begins to recognize that he is a part of this story too and to stand firmly in that awareness. he's no longer just a sidekick to Clary or an antagonist to Jace or a toy for Isabelle. and suddenly he's bearing the Mark of Cain, he's standing in front of Raphael, he's running across Brocelind, he's fighting a war he got flung into by series of unfortunate events but he's here and he's trying to make it matter.
I guess what strikes me towards the end of CoG, then, is his conviction in his own part in the story, whatever that is; his recognition of the ways in which this is interconnected with that of the people around him; and his willingness to take on responsibility for himself and others. I see such strength in him. the best way I can figure out to express this is that it's like he gains solidity and robustness.

Messaging my friend like “nothing bad is happening but I’m just crying over how beautiful and wonderful Magnus’ friendships are” 😭🥹
I need CC to know that if she wrote a whole novel of Magnus and Alec just living in domestic bliss with no real plot point other than *this is a week in our lives*, I would be fine with that fucking ecstatic
Raphael 🤝 Tessa
Being horrified of the “idea” of dating Magnus
finished TDA!! perfect trilogy. best cassandra clare trilogy. best written characters. TDA was written for me. I love it. 5 stars! and i feel ready to read twp... god bless 🙏😍
Will would have fucking thrived as a high school theatre kid
“i asked chatgpt-“ well i asked the shadowhunters, and they didn't know, so they went to ask magnus bane.
please please please cassie can we have stoner kit in twp. i’ll do anything
ty is a better person than me because if some guy in a cave gave me step by step instructions and an ingredient list to commit a felony to bring my beloved sister back from the dead and said he was going to help me get it done, and i did literally all of it as instructed, only for him to pull the rug out from under me at the last second so then i had to go get a sketchy power source instead and it messed up the entire spell causing me a lot of emotional agony and then i found out he was going to be my new teacher and also he gave me a fake name.......... idk what i would do but nobody would enjoy it like get tf away from me are you actually joking sir
Ty totally grades his interactions with other people in his head, nevermind how accurate they are
Like, asked a cute boy what he's doing in the basement of his own house while pointing a knife at his throat? 3/10. Would not hold up in a court of law but at least no one died
Pinning down said cute boy, essentially holding him hostage, and asking him to be your Watson? Completely nailed that one. You best believe he gave it a 10/10. As far as he's concerned, things went perfectly as planned. Look, the guy even agreed!
Oh, now he wishes he'd never met you and left the country without saying goodbye? Well, shit, we might need to add negatives to this system. That, and flee to a school in the middle of bum fuck nowhere with our dead sister
Three years later, show up at his front door in the pouring rain, demanding to talk, then saying nothing while soaking his coach? Now we're fucking talking. At least you didn't ask what he's doing in his own house this time around. 2/10, bonus pity point for character development
(ts was inspired by a woman complimenting my shoes and asking where I got them, and my autistic ass replying "the store." Gave myself a 1 because at least I said thank you before I criminally embarrassed myself?)
Kit after TDA is like "I don't want to see you!" and then proceeds to send Ty the only belonging he has of his dead mother which is specifically designed to protect and call for help and Ty's favourite book as a Christmas gift and stays in contact with Ty's siblings and asks questions to Ty's friends and family about him
Like if I was Ty I would not know what the fuck was going on!??
