thinking about how itachi said

and how both times he died, in his final moments, he was just sasuke’s older brother.

the first time, he had spent years pretending to be a heartless monster, pretending he despised his little brother. but he couldn’t bring himself to continue that act in his last moment. he had done so many he cruel things to sasuke for the sake of protecting him, but one last time he had to apologise and tap sasuke’s forehead.

and the second time, despite his non affectionate nature, despite the walls he built up, he brought their foreheads together and told sasuke he would always love him.

true to his theory, he wasn’t clan killer itachi at the end. all that mattered was that he loved sasuke, and sasuke had loved him too. and that was who he truly was.
