as much as anyone loves carter x lucy, I think it's insane to blame noah wyle for say "actually I'm not comfortable playing a storyline where my character takes advantage of a younger woman that he has power over."
that is an insane thing to be upset about or blame him for. this is hollywood we're talking about. this was the late 90s. this was a white presenting cis man who was... barely 30?? who had seniority and influence on set, with the producers, with the writers.
and not only do I think it was a moral issue for noah, he probably also thought it didn't fit carters character for him to do that, with what he's been through. the fact that carter himself was manipulated and assaulted as a child aside, we've seen carter be in relationships with questionable power dynamics before, but he's always been at the bottom, the one with less power. it would be a stretch for him to completely switch the second he gets a med student of his own.
No one ever talks about it, but I adore how once Dunk is seated at table in the Baratheon tent, Raymun actually serves him as a Squire does a Knight. Dunk, of course, wouldn't expect it, though it's the natural order of things in their world.
Gosh, I just love that sweet Apple Boy, always so kind to our Dunk, really his truest friend. No agenda, just 'are you hungry?'
and 'come have some cider' and 'here, I bought back your horse because you're the best fellow I've ever known and you deserve some kindness after everything you've had to endure'. Oh, and 'hey, by the way, I'll back you up against that evil Targ princeling who's beating up women AND I'd be happy to hazard my life to defend yours and your honor, Dunk'. With no hesitation whatsoever.
And of course there's, 'Prince Maekar can bloody well stuff it, you goons are gonna have to go through ME to get to my bestie'.
Seriously, why aren't we talking about and loving on Ser Raymun Fossoway more, the only real winner at Ashford Meadow and Ser Duncan's unlooked for best friend, who recognized the diamond in the rough that Dunk always was and treated him accordingly?
Rest in peace to the incredible Anthony Stewart Head (20th February 1954 - 1st June 2026)

Thank you for the memories, they'll last us a lifetime. Anthony Stewart Head (1954-2026)
i hope one day we get to see the real robby. i hope we're able to see him find a way to drag himself out of these lowest of lows, and ask for help, and make steps forward in recovery and figuring out who he is outside of his actions within the hospital. i hope we get to see him learn, and understand, and then internalise the fact that he's worth more to the world than what he does in the ER department. i hope one day the show will start and it *won't* be one of the worst days of robby's life, because he's gone through hell and now he's come out of the other side.
more than anything i want him to get to the positive stage where the viewers can be directly shown the man who earnt the trust of trinity despite her traumatising past, and the man who has such a good rapport with the nurses that they automatically assume he's asking about them on a personal level when he talks to them since that's just who he is, and the man who gives javadi the space and encouragement to grow into who she wants to be, giving her the courage to understand that she's more than her parents wishes for her.
we know he's there somewhere, every interaction with the other staff show us that that's who he is inside, someone deeply caring and loving and driven, above all else, by an all-consuming empathy that is now eating him alive. i wish so badly that we'll get to see him happy and healthier and with the capacity to take care of not only others, but himself as well. he deserves that recovery and he deserves that peace and the medical community who have so deeply connected with this character deserve a story that is, at it's core, still driven by hope for a better future.
who knows if it will be one, or two, or four seasons down the line that we might get to this point. recovery is never linear and when faced with a broken system, the setbacks will be hard and the lows frequently catastrophic. but nonetheless, robby deserves a happy ending and deserves to find a way to get back the parts of him that burnout and depression have stolen from him. my biggest wish with this show will be to see the day robby has found some peace and respite, and is able to give once more the empathy that his relationships with others are all founded by. that maybe this might be a sign to people that hope isn't lost, and we can work for and achieve a better and kinder future within the medical field and beyond.
Originally drew this for Mexican Independence Day + Bi Visibility Day last year but I never posted it so happy pride month instead !

Southland - S1E1: Unknown Trouble
early seasons had puppyboy carter - he’d jump, bark, fetch the stick if dr benton gave the word
but season 15 old pup carter? beaten by life, missing a kidney, limping, but he still picks up the stick. pads over to dr benton. slowly now, mindful of the aching joints. he drops the sticks at the surgeon’s feet
even if peter never asked for the stick…
Resident Benton who has a one track mind and almost completely untethered. Who doesn’t care too deeply—or so he says—staring at this ridiculous intern who is the embodiment of everything he can never have. And here he is, ready to answer to every one of his commands. Who brings him sticks so eagerly and waits with hopeful eyes for some shallow compliment that’s never given.
Benton doesn’t pick up any of the sticks Carter brings. Why dirty his hands? Why encourage a bad habit?
Season 15 Benton, who’s different but still fundamentally the same man just matured. Back in Chicago and soaking in the nostalgia. Greeted—just as Odysseus was—by a most faithful hound. Limping, aching, mauled and disemboweled, but there with a stick in his mouth. Nothing said, a single touch at the back of his neck. Rest now, you’ve done so well. Carter just leans into the hand, savors the weight.
Benton doesn’t pick up any of the sticks. He just wants Carter to stay.

ROBERT SEAN LEONARD as Roger Kadar FALLING SKIES (2011-2015)
I felt bad for the standby hopefuls when I entered the theater behind a couple of gay guys who must have been invited as influencers or friends of producers. “Are you a fan of the show?” asked one. “Not really,” said the other. “I’ve only watched clips through YouTube Shorts, which is how I watch most TV shows.” The first guy nodded like that was not only normal but acceptable.
