so its not so much that you're trapped in the "bath" as much as you live in the "bath." Live, and not trapped, in the sense that sometimes She drags you out, hauls you up and over, your tale lugubriously sliding across the linoleum, your scales catching against the tile, and then you're in the wheeled device and plunged up and over out of the "bathroom" and onto the "couch" or into her "bed."

you used to struggle. now you don't bother. you go limp and let Her struggle. you think She's getting stronger, though. you can see the clean lines on her arms. You used to be strong like that. now you've got muscle cramps and probably some sort of vitamin deficiency. But you're only really sleeping in the "bath."

She used to have a "kiddie pool" set up in her "bedroom." But you flipped it over one too many times.

Small revolutions aside, you are trapped, in the sense that there's nowhere to go. She lives in a box in the upside. you're in a cage of air and light and gravity. you're in the fairylands. you are never getting home.

Her brother brings you "markers." He slips them under the plate when he brings you the strange surface food. You think he feels sorry for you. He looks at you like you're something marvelous. You don't look at him at all.

When She finds the markers, She takes them away. They get in fights. You watch through half-lidded eyes.

You wonder how you can use this.

A four leaf clover" and then what the fuck are you supposed to do? Carry it around until it gets smushed and lost? Press it and have it be clutter? No, you eat that fucking son of a bitch. This works as an answer to the metaphorical problem because the key is for the hedgehogs and prcupines to be a bit flexible about how they position themselves and keep thier spines pointed in such a fashion to minimize poking, just like how in human relationships you have to be a bit flexible and concious of your position relative to others, and to manage your sharp bits to minimize the harm you do to others.

yet another year of beautiful fashion at the #wizardcouncil gala! Cowl the Unseen was absolutely stunning (we assume) in a beautiful floral(?) number (who can say) and Izerion the Infinite’s infinite hat spiraled off into every conceivable dimension, impaling many good apprentices and homunculi. another rousing success!

When she's losing in argument she falls apart on the floor and refuses to talk to you

I think Dream views most of his conflicts like the Trolley Problem. And very rarely, like .1% of the time, it's a matter of the Collective Unconscious on one side and someone else on the other (like Rose during the vortex shenanigans), and that's when he struggles and hesitates and occasionally ends up blowing up the trolley in a fit of choice paralysis because unfortunately he cares so so much.

Now the other 99.9% of the time, it's the Collective Unconscious on one side and Dream on the other, and that's not even a little bit of a problem for Dream, he pulls the leaver on himself without even pausing to consider his options. This is easy. Fuck, he'll see empty tracks on one side and ask "is anyone gonna offer up their own wellbeing as a sacrifice over here?" and then not wait for an answer. He'll just lay face down and tell Matthew to fetch some rope.

And meanwhile Lucienne is grinding her teeth like "Sir. Sir. What if we. Didn't tie you to the tracks. So the trolley. Could pass by without hurting anyone. What if we made that a possibility here. We have the technology."

But Dream is already fully in character as both the cartoon villain tying a maiden to the train tracks and the maiden in question because the trolley has to run over someone, obviously, don't be stupid. Pull the leaver, Matthew.
