learning to notice an absence of people of color is crazy. you start seeing it everywhere. ill see a random pic of characters or people or whatever and be like "these are all white people. why"

all the babies in those baby youtube video memes. humanized character posts. like. its the little innocent shit. and like, the people making those baby memes probably arent seeking out white babies. maybe theyre just easier to find. but why are they easier to find? a complicated question, surely... but you know what it probably comes down to. someone, somewhere, maybe a lot of someones in a lot of places, made a choice. maybe knowingly, maybe not. but they made a choice. it starts to make you feel like a conspiracy theorist!!

Reminder to newly out trans women/fems or anyone else on E, don’t let anyone gaslight you about your period symptoms. don’t let anyone with a child’s level understanding of how periods work make you feel like you’re stupid or delusional for experiencing period symptoms, especially if you think there might be something wrong.

things like endometriosis can develop in an estrogen-dominated system, because its the hormones that cause the growth of endometrial lesions, not the “parts” themselves. If you’re experiencing unusually painful symptoms* then you have a right to find a doctor who will take you seriously and not try to gaslight you into thinking that the pain is “normal”.

*period pain is not supposed to affect your daily life. It’s supposed to feel more like an inconvenience rather than a medical emergency. If you are struggling to go about your life, if you can’t move due to the pain, if you’re bed-ridden for the majority of your period, then that is not normal and you need to find a doctor who is going to take your pain seriously. This obviously goes for anyone who experiences periods because unfortunately it’s not common knowledge that experiencing agonising levels of pain is NOT NORMAL!!!

it can be very difficult! I would suggest cautiously keeping your mind open to the idea [: don't deny it outright, and don't jump the gun! make notes of your experiences, talk to people who are part of a system, figure out how you feel most comfortable being perceived. worst case, you're wrong and now you know yourself better. good luck!

Yeah, figuring it out can be sudden and scary all at once. For me it was just like. Normal. Like everyone has the person in their head they converse with. Who keeps you from fully exploding during stressful moments. Everyone heavily segments themselves between numerous different selves that don't like overlapping. I only really figured it out when I made an effort to combine those segments, and like. As I did the other selves got more defined and gained more agency? Honestly it took me like 3 years after that to even open myself to the possibility that it could be plurality and I'm still lightly uncomfortable with really identifying with it. No idea if this is helpful but this is my personal experience with it.

hey if you're someone who edits Wikipedia articles, spread the word that it's quite disrespectful that so many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander public figures' Mobs/nations are not listed in their bios at all. Even well-known figures who have publicly stated who their Mob are, get simply described as "Aboriginal" or "First Nations" with no specification of their Mob/nation. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are not a monolithic culture. Every nation/Country/Mob has its own language, law, lore, customs, songlines etc. Promoting, unwittingly or not, the notion that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are one monolithic group feeds into the very same colonial narrative that was used to justify settler colonisation and attempted genocide (i.e the racist idea that we were/are a primitive monolithic people without culture, language, etc.). Of course, there are people whose Country might not be publicly known, but I am ofc, not talking about those figures. If wiki editors can do it for Taika Waititi, you can do it for famous Blakfellas. Also in general, this is respectful to do if you're writing about Blakfellas.
