First and last day of work.
the core and the king prediction
First off. This is not a safe space for people who want to be racist to the creator of the new ace flag.
If you want to harass a Black Queer Woman, I personally hate you. I am Black. I am queer. Fuck off with your misogynoir shit.
So I have 2 issues with the new flag. Not as a callout. As a discussion.
The centering of Love when being ace isn't about that. It hearkens back to the era of ace people going "we still feel love though!" To try and seem more valid. I understand the creator has said it "[Centers all forms of love; Self Love, Romantic, Platonic, QPR & Aromantic]", but it feels both unnecessary and kind of. Not inclusive? I kind of lack the words for it. But I do want to talk about it. I've heard from several Aroaces it makes them feel unincluded.
Yellow as representative of diversity. This one is a more minor complaint and honestly may be a nitpick. People already mixed up the old asexual and nonbinary flags
And adding yellow is not going to help that.
Its just something that I thought of and maybe it won't be a problem. I do think we need something for diversity on the flag since both internally and externally BIPOC Asexuals are excluded and treated worse than our white peers.
Edit: adding this to the main post since I think its important
I have a lot more I want to say about this but I have a migraine. Sorry.
I do want to read the discussions Ashabi mentions having with other ace people about the flag on substack.
I want to hear from Black and Indigenous AroAces of Color about the pink stripe and its definition.
I want to have a broader discussion with those same people on the importance of whether a flag needs to be recognizable and not easily mistaken for another identity's flag.
All in all. If you don't like a flag, no one is forcing you to use it.
I would just really like an asexual flag that actually acknowledges BIPOC. For me to use. So this got me excited but its not the perfect fit for me.
loving the new google ai that means when gmail doesnt autofill suddenly im recomended. to . um. read the epstein emails

Help AceinGrace (IG) in changing the meaning of the white stripe meaning on the Asexual flag! Personally I like the idea of it representing Intersectionality and diversity in the Ace Community and Sex Neutral and Sex Positive/Negative alignments.
They’re currently at 800 surveys and want to get to 1,000 before April 6, or International Ace Day, so share share share!!!!! I got my friends to take it so get yours in on this too!
Also follow Ace in Grace in supporting Black Ace Therapists have more exposure!!!
Welcome to the Ace Flag Revision Survey! Thank you for taking part. This is an ongoing conversation within the Ace community; your input ma
I changed my header image to this flag.
My previous header image was a rendition of the asexual flag that a follower made for me to show my support for the BLM movement (an asexual flag with two brown stripes and an extra black one).
However, this new flag was made by a black asexual person to show the diversity within the asexual community. You can see the flag meanings here.
You can see discussions around the new asexual flag here.
Strap in, this is a long and heavy one
The post talks about the pushback around the the flag being anti-blackness, and they're not wrong. The representation we've gotten for a long time has been cis white men.
But as a person that was active in the community over a decade.
The asexual community has a lot more issues than that. They have a purity issue and a clique issue.
Purity as in many old and long running corners of the community do not like to accept the "asexual umbrella" idea or "no or little sexual attraction" idea.
AND
Purity as in many long standing members of the community will clutch their pearls "HOW DARE YOU CHANGE OUR SYSTEM"
Like... this isn't aimed at AceInGrace but the people that are attacking her and that I've dealt with in the asexual community. You're a real fucking headache, you know that? You think your way is PERFECT and you won't listen to ANYONE ELSE and oh fuck GODS FORBID a black asexual person say that they want to be part of the conversation.
So anyways. Since my old header image was a rendition of the ace flag a follower made for me during ace awareness week and the BLM movement to show my support of black asexuals. I replaced it with a flag actually made by a black asexual to support the intersectionality in the ace community.
