Google Forms is a great tool and I hope to use it more throughout this year. Take a look here for a more detailed introduction and guide to using and creating a Google Form – this was written prior to Google bringing forms into the NEW menu.
Awesome resource for integrating google forms into your daily practice.
Yes! I’ve made use of this list!
IF YOU GRADE ON GOOGLE DOCS, GET KAIZENA NOW
GAME. CHANGER.
We use Classroom and thus, Docs and such for homework. Kaizena is an add on for Docs, and allows you to leave VOICE FEEDBACK. Creating an account and group on Google Docs was super easy to get the kids in, and they add Kaizena as an add-on on their end. When work is returned, they open the add on, and a sidebar appears on Docs with my messages or recordings.
I have a wrist injury right now and the voice comments allow me to rest my wrist and wear my brace more more. Recordings are 3 minutes at a time, but you can add more than one. You’re actually forming a “conversation” on Kaizena and kids can message you back or even record messages!
My kids are starting to figure out how to use it with each other for peer edits!
Reblogging for reference.
Also, Kaizena’s support team is no joke. I signed up for it, then didn’t get w chance to use it. So I got an email (from a person, not a bot) offering to email, Skype, or google hangout to teach me whatever I needed to make it work.
They will answer every question on Twitter. And they were super excited I did a PD on it, so they sent me a shirt.
The Mom Drawer
This is something I have maintained since I first started teaching. I keep a drawer of those supplies that are not school related to help kids in a pinch and keep them in my room. My mom was a school nurse, so i will do anything to keep a kid from going to the nurse’s office to either loiter around all day or get stuck waiting for a fairly simple request.
pads/tampons/panty liners (our bathrooms don’t have machines anymore)
contact solution
bandaids, vaseline (can’t give neosporin; it’s medicine)
shout wipes
small sewing kit
safety pins
non-menthol lozenges, mints, or lemon drops (menthol is medicine)
static guard
wrinkle release
spray air freshener
plug-in air freshener
clorox wipes
hand sanitizer to place by the high quality Puffs with lotion, because school tissues are the Devil.
Bag of almonds, packages of cheese/crackers for fairly starving kids.
various tea bags. (I actually steal tea from hotels for this purpose)
My mom drawer is not nearly this complete, but I say every teacher should have at least a first aid kit and a pack of pads/tampons. I make sure that my students know I have these things, and this drawer is the one exception to the “don’t go in my desk” rule.
As a side note, I have a drawer dedicated to this, literally labeled “THE MOM DRAWER.” Kids pretty much have free reign to get in it. I have students I’ve never even had pop into my room and ask, “I hear you have….a drawer? With…THINGS?”

‘I’m A Trump-Era Conservative,’ Says Horrifying Man 25 Years From Now
NEWPORT BEACH, CA—Explaining that the early–21st century Republican is by far the biggest influence on his political beliefs, Brandon Taggart, a man from 25 years in the future and all-around horrifying human being, told reporters Wednesday that he considers himself to be a Trump-era conservative.
“When I think of what it truly means to be a conservative, I immediately think of Donald Trump and the vision he had for this country,” said the deeply frightening individual, adding that the policies and worldview advocated by Trump continue to form the bedrock of his own political convictions more than two decades later. “Nobody since Trump has captured the imagination of an entire generation of voters the way he did back then—not just Republicans, but independents and even a few Democrats, who just got sick of government as usual and wanted America to be strong again.”
“Trump was the leader this nation needed,” added the atrocious man. “We desperately need another one just like him.”

Just heard a kid say “you’ve opened a can of worms, now lay in it.” More effective and terrifying than the originals tbh.
