I feel like a lot of byler shippers say that mileven doesn’t have any chemistry and that it’s a bad ship, but I think that’s wrong. At least in the beginning I think they were kinda cute together, even if I ship byler. I honestly think it’s a good ship until they actually got together and started arguing a lot, but I can still see why people ship it, and I feel like a lot of byler shippers act like they weren’t cute in the beginning either. I ship byler but if someone ships mileven I think they should be allowed to do so without having lots of byler shippers hate on it because they want byler to be canon. I feel like if eleven were a boy they wouldn’t act like that even if they shipped byler instead, but many are so focused on wanting a gay ship and then they immediately think of mileven as bad even though it isn’t that bad.

I agree, Melvin does have chemistry, but as friends. At least that’s what I think. Mike and El only knew each other for a week, if you listen to their conversations in s3 before they breakup they come off as very shallow. I’ve never seen Byler shippers attack Melvin shippers, maybe I just haven’t seen it happen yet but most of the time Melvin shippers are the ones viciously attacking Byler shippers for simply coming up with theories. I think the main reason why Byler shippers don’t think it’s cute is because they just don’t see it or because El has been in a lab for her entire life and shouldn’t be in a romantic relationship yet. I also think wanting a queer ship in mainstream media is valid. Queer people are starved for proper representation. It’s not a bad thing that Bylers want it to be canon and endgame. I think often a lot of Byler shippers hold an even bigger appreciation for the show because they see all the subtext it has with it, including Byler.
