Basically, these words express what I would mean by the label if I described this blog as pro para, while also covering much more ground. They are a general statement of my ethics. If you are a person who uses a label to identify yourself, it is my goal that I won't try to use that label to hurt you or make you feel bad about yourself.

This blog isn't about paraphelias but it should be safe for anyone who considers themselves pro para to follow.

Note: I do reblog a lot about anti's because this is primarily a proship discourse blog, and I can't promise that all the text contained in a chain I reblogged will meet that standard, because sometimes discourse do be like that.

My one (mild) complaint about the original post is that it mentions these sorts of fantasies being common among both men and women, but only cites data about women. So I did a little googling, and although this wasn’t published when OP first made this post (and thus can’t be blamed for not including it), I did find this great article, from a social psychologist who reports on a survey he did of 4000 Americans aged 18-87 (not just college aged women). He found that (exact quotes from the article):

“61% of self-identified women had fantasized about this [being forced to have sex] before, while 24% said they fantasized about it often.”

“54% of self-identified men had fantasized about this before, while 11.5% said they fantasized about it often.”

“68% of non-binary participants had fantasized about this before, while 31% said they fantasized about it often.”

Interestingly, the same guy also asked people about the inverse, i.e. did they fantasize about forcing sex on someone else, which he talks about in a blog post. He found (again using exact quotes):

“20% of self-identified women had fantasized about this [forcing sex on someone else] before, while 4% said they fantasized about it often”

“38% of self-identified men had fantasized about this before, while 7% said they fantasized about it often”

“38% of non-binary participants had fantasized about this before, while 9% said they fantasized about it often”

I recommend reading both articles, they go into a lot more detail than I’ve reported here. This guy also wrote a book on this topic, though I haven’t read it.

TLDR: you’re not a freak or abnormal, there is no such thing as thoughtcrime.

Seconding the anon saying a lot of the "fem subby transmasc bottom" porn is written by transmascs. I am a kinky transmasc involved in the kink community and I and a lot of transmascs I know are fem subby bottoms. A lot of us have breeding kinks and detrans kinks. You're allowed to be uncomfortable with fem subby transmasc bottoms in fic but don't pretend it's all cis women chasers writing it. You don't get to erase us just because our existence is inconvenient to you.

I can't deny that transmascs are frequently feminised and infantilised against their will or that this isn't a factor in fandom transmasc rep. But a looooot of the posts I've seen critiquing this rep have been borderline if not blatantly transmedicalist. Fem subby transmasc bottoms are not inherently bad rep, "closer to women" than dom masc transmasc tops, or "just a chaser fantasy version of transmascs." The fact that chaser fantasies often involve fem subby transmasc bottoms is not a privilege for fem subby transmasc bottoms, it means we receive the majority of harassment from chasers expecting us to fulfill their fantasies.

Also, a lot of the characters in question aren't even depicted as fem...people just view any transmasc that isn't on hrt, enjoys having a vagina, and/or is submissive and/or a bottom as inherently gnc.

The reality is, the end result of saying "writing fem subby transmasc bottoms is bad rep" is not going to be more big hairy masc dom top transmasc rep, it's just going to be people not writing transmascs at all. I write subby transmasc bottoms because I'm a subby transmasc bottom, not out of a sense of duty to represent all transmascs. I've considered abandoning all my "subby transmasc bottom gets railed" fics and write cis women instead. Which is sorta ridiculous that people are subject to more scrutiny for the transmasc characters they do write than if they didn't write transmasc characters at all.

But I'm sorry, I'm gonna continue writing subby transmasc bottoms getting railed by alpha dom tops. If you want alpha dom top transmasc porn, write it yourself. Us subby transmasc bottoms have been representing ourselves in porn. Stop complaining and do what we've been doing.

Nolan's Odyssey plays with PTSD as a theme, but it neither glorifies nor condemns war as such. I actually don't resent Nolan for making movies with assertively centrist politics. That's his right as an artist, and anyone vehemently asserting anything is automatically kind of interesting to me. But of course there's a void at the heart of centrism - a fundamental absence of real belief - which is why people run into so much trouble when they try and pick apart the politics of a Nolan film. There's nothing underneath, nothing there to "get to."

I was thinking about Disco Elysium's Moralism while trying to explain this post to someone, and of course about "Kingdom of Conscience", and it occurred to me (and I know this isn't an original thought) that centrists have a very hostile relationship to desire. It's not just beliefs and convictions that must be "put away immediately, and the child reprimanded," it's the wordless desires that lie under those beliefs and convictions. Desire is by definition unfulfilled: all desire is the desire for things to be different, which is the opposite of what centrists want.

What I'm saying here is that the lack of sex, and of sexiness, in Nolan movies (and Marvel movies and other contemporary blockbusters) has a direct connection to their political messaging. It's not solely American puritanism or risk-averse PG-13 corporate conservatism - although it is those - it's also this desire thing. These movies don't just lack sex, they lack eroticism in the broadest sense of the term. They lack frisson. Even when there is sex or nudity, there's still no eroticism!

These blockbuster protagonists generally don't want things, they don't need things, they don't crave things, they're obligated to things. That makes them less than human, not more than human (just compare and contrast with the gods in Greek mythology), and it makes the movies quite boring in my opinion!

The thing is that sex scenes actually are incredible ways to explore character. People are at their most vulnerable during sex! The way they have sex says a lot of very interesting things about their desires, obviously, but also their psychology, their vulnerabilities, their hopes and fears, etc. It is completely insane to me to think that sex scenes have no value other than to sexually excite the audience. And even if their only value is to sexual excite the audience - SO WHAT?? A movie is supposed to excite and entertain you! Grow up!!!

That's a great question! I don't think there is a universally agreed tag for it. This is one of those places where the fact that tags are used in multiple ways: to help people search for things, to help people avoid things, AND for the archival purpose of describing the contents of a story - comes up to bite us.

What I have noticed is that stories tagged with things that suggest a fetish context are often more likely to be jerk-it stories. The way this can bite a writer is that if they include that fetish/ kinky concept in their story but don't realize that by doing so they may be promising (to some readers, maybe not all) more than they intended to deliver. My own example is that I wrote a short vignette with LGD (Lesbian Getting Dicked by a man) and tagged it LGD and didn't realize that by using that tag I wasn't only tagging it so people who didn't want it could avoid it, I was also tagging it so that people who wanted it could find it. As such, I really needed to commit to those people as my audience.

I'm used to writing vignettes, even kinky ones, for readers who are happy to read a short story with a kinky vibe - but LGD is an explicetly fetish tag. There is no genre that is improved by not knowing the genre conventions, even erotica, and I should have realized that minimum length is a genre convention of its own.
