Happy end of Topsy Turvy Day!! 💙🎉 (original) This was basically finished months ago and then I did not post it :D what more an auspicious day than this!
(The latter, in our humble opinion.)
If Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame would’ve come out just like… two decades later, Tumblr girlies would have been all over Clopin. He was like tailor-made to be a Tumblr sexyman.
Silly little jester outfit ✔️
Secret sinister side ✔️
Shirtless for a scene??? And he has love handles to boot ✔️
Good with kids ✔️
That freakin note he holds like 🔔Bells🔔of🔔Notre✨DAAAMMMMEEE✨
The cathedral may have bells but Clopin has PIPES. He also has three whole songs on the soundtrack + a reprise. That’s four songs. Quasimodo has two and Esmerelda has one. They’re all beautiful songs and this is one of, if not the best Disney soundtracks of all time, and this one side character gets to sing like half of the songs.
Anyway, y’all slept on this man
if you're having trouble sleeping the best you can do is put a bright object close to your face and look at it for at least 30 minutes. if that doesn't work you can close your eyes but make sure to think really hard about a bunch of bullshit
growing up as the weird girl who doesn't do girlhood right may be somewhat traumatic but then you get to be a weird nonbinary adult and love yourself in your 30s so it's all worth it
This also goes for weird boys who don’t do boyhood right :)
Oh youre "nonbinary"? Can i put you in a box please. Can i pleaseeeee put you in a box. We have two boxes and i really wanna put you in one. But dont worry. My boxes are very Woke and Nuanced. So its fine to put you in one. Pleaseeeee. Wow... youre such a bitch... not letting me put into one of two nuanced and essential necessary boxes... you obviously go into the box all those evil bitches end up in

on god
as a feminist, I don't say 'motherfucker'. The idea that to fuck a mother is the worst act against someone ever upholds certain patriarchal norms that I dislike. but I'm also a lesbian, so I can't say 'fatherfucker' either. it might be the obvious reversal, pivot across the gender line. so instead I just listen to the sounds of the rain pitterpattering against the roof and all the insects whirring and twitching in the grass and the pollinated air. the sun is bright, the wind is cool, what beauty this world holds for us.
image ID the original post is a screenshot of a twitter post by Mia Moore which reads, "Trans girls travelling back in time to talk to their lonely awkward depressed pre-transition selves" with photos of the main pairs from sternal sunshine of a spotless mind, scott pilgrim, 500 days of summer, and the matrix. It was reblogged with a screenshot of ms. frizzle and arnold from the magic school bus end ID
I feel like when I say ‘relatable’ what I really mean is ‘resonant.’ I don’t want characters who I feel are like me, I want characters who have emotions so strong I can feel them through the page.
I think this is important because a lot of us forget the power of stories to make us feel things about characters who are not like us, who have experienced things that we never will. The purpose of listening to someone else's story should not necessarily be identification, but understanding.
hey. why do we all point and laugh at "i hate my wife" jokes but no one talks about the similar plague of "i hate my kids" jokes.
Mild heavy lifting
There are a lot of philosophical concepts that I wish were in more common parlance, but the one I wish people broadly understood most is 'merely verbal dispute'.
care to help me add it to my parlance?
So, not infrequently in philosophy you'll have a debate with someone, go back and forth for hours, and eventually realize... you don't actually disagree on any point other than the definition of a word or two. Your actual positions are the same, you're just calling them something different. You see this a lot in some of the slipperier areas of metaphysics, like in debates over free will. But it's everywhere.
Once you get to that point in the debate, there's simply no reason to continue. You're not going to be able to logically compell someone to use different words, it'd be pretty pointless to even try, and there's nothing else at stake. For a philosopher, realizing that you're in a merely verbal dispute is realizing that you're arguing about nothing, and thus, that it's time for the debate to end.
This is an insight politics discourse urgently needs. I have seen so many discussions that might have gone somewhere fruitful get bogged down in verbal disputes over the definition of "socialism".
