mystery spot is made so much more interesting retroactively by the decision to make the trickster an archangel. it becomes, uniquely, an early seasons instance of heaven’s approach to manipulating sam and dean into the apocalypse.

when the demons try to manipulate sam and dean (mostly sam) in the early seasons they do it largely via normal human methods of manipulation — lying, saying things to put ideas in their heads, gaining their trust and then trying to push them apart, etc.

but when heaven manipulates them, they rely heavily on reality warping scenarios. we see this most obviously in zachariah’s alternate universes (the end, it’s a terrible life), but also when they send dean back in time to see mary make the deal (in the beginning). both of these also take the form of trying to “teach them a lesson”. and even changing the words of dean’s phone call to sam in lucifer rising and the shapeshifting pocket dimension of the beautiful room fall into the reality warping category.

gabriel might not be actively working for heaven in mystery spot, but in trying to convince sam to accept dean’s inevitable death and trip to hell, he’s still working towards their plans for the apocalypse, and he’s certainly using their strategies.

Biblically accurate summary of 90% of heated rivalry fanfiction:

“Russians do not do this,” Ilya said while drinking vodka in a way Shane found unfairly sexy because everything Ilya does is super super hot. Everyone is jealous of him for his super hot and sexy boyfriend who has lots of sex and can make him come ten times a minute with his meter long dick. Or they would be if Shane could stop being such a selfish, manipulative asshole who put Ilya in a cage by making him fall in love with him. He’s just like Yuna that way. Except instead of brand deals he trained all his focus on Ilya Rozanov. Oh well, this was a problem for later he had to go to play hockey now.

Shane got to the rink and all of his teammates were being homophobic except for Hadyn Pike, who knew about Ilya but hated his guts because Ilya keeps making jokes about him being bad at hockey. But it’s ok, because white men aren’t accountable for their actions.

During the game Shane got bulldozed three times, and scored one million’s goals all on his own. The Stanley cup was his for sure. Not Scott Hunter the Dinosaurs who was over a hundred years old. It had to be some kind of hate crime that they still let him out of the nursing home. Kip can do better.

Shane then went home after having an anxiety attack on live television, and had sex with his super hot domineering boyfriend five times in one night. If only he was also the best hockey player in the NHL, and not just the second best.

One thing that never sits right with me is how quickly it’s glossed over that Lucas scored a game winning buzzer beater off the bench in a finals game when he was on the basketball team. Like, that NEVER happens. Hawkins is in INDIANA literally the homeland of basketball. that’s HOOSIERLAND.

Lucas would literally be a living legend at Hawkins High for the rest of time for that no matter what else happened.

Now that this post has notes I feel like the people deserve to know that it was inspired by me watching a talk given by a scientist who is a leader in his field where he talked about how his mom didn’t say she was proud of him until he was inducted into the Indiana high school basketball hall of fame

tbh not really, it just like ✨makes sense✨

but i do think that he started out feeling aesthetic attraction towards jane because she looked more masculine and thats what hes “attracted” to but then when she got older and less masculine it was just straight up platonic attraction :P

and with will he thought it was platonic attraction because he hadn’t had a romantic crush or felt that way about anyone else before, when it was actually mostly romantic and a little bit of platonic attraction as well (alterous attraction)
