Okay Hear me out, this has been stuck in my head for so many months nonstop because of the story implications. It will not escape no matter what. I have the perfect visuals that I wish I could upload from my mind into a web series man, but I have almost 0 2d/3d animation skill and holy shit it is driving me wild. This is the first time I'm writing this down let alone my first time writing a creative idea like this on the internet just to get this off of my chest. The roughest of the rough drafts. Basically, this is what goes in my imagination while listening to these songs as of now, it is not all complete since it is a work in progress, but I can see it having SO MUCH POTENTIAL for myself and maybe you guys if you also like it idk. I imagine the turner's cube in the album cover to be the dissolving door itself, the middle as the dissolving part. The first song (The Dissolving Door) is about our main character being in the mundanity of life. He goes home from work and decides to fall asleep on the floor. Noticing how his walls are cracked and crumbling held up by ropes. He then encounters the dissolving door when he wakes up from his slumber from the rubble of his walls floating away revealing this dissolving door. In this scene, the camera shows the door and zooms out through the rubble floating away from the walls then above but behind the character. The background being like outer space, a semblance to cosmic existentialism. He knows that There is no choice but to go in ("Choose or be chosen too") and as fast as he can back up, and run towards this floating monolithic structure, Jumping and reaching out to the door. The scene is zoomed out from them in the air reaching out to the door whilst the camera slowly orbits around the two with the instrumentals of the music. Landing on some of the floating rubble, jumping from piece to piece getting closer to the door. He then grabs onto the outer layer. While reaching for the next layer I can vividly visualize him crying profusely and him saying the lyric " My hatred, my hang ups, my human disease." then climbing onto the next layer. The outer layer starts rotating. then the next lyric makes sense to me about this, "I run through the next or get caught in between". In this case, I would see running as a metaphor to him rushing to get to the door or getting caught in the rotating layers as he climbs. When he touches the inner (4th) layer of the Door the lyric "Dissolving" hits in the song. His body begins to float, then gets sucked into the center whilst his limbs get restrained stretched. "He yells repeatedly "I Can't go back!". The second or third time the camera orbiting the door. The last lyric cuts it off, "I can't go-". At this moment you can see the black silhouette of the character (bright glowing background of the center of the door) showing him dissolving from his feet upwards and as soon as he starts speaking the lyrics, The camera shows from his neck up to show his skin dissolving first then shortly after his bones. You can see the skulls jawbone moving to the lyrics. Then it cuts to the second song.
That's just the first song. I'll try to make it shorter for the next songs unless more interest is found on this. Here's my ideas on the other songs. - Gong song: Ego death. The main character gets mocked by jester-like entities which coalesce into a single entity that punches a hole into the abdomen of the main character Dio style, grabbing his soul and ripping it out of his body. The main character falls to the ground laying there in the infinite grey void (this one im the most exited to dive into) - Enemy: The main character confronts his shadow/ego that has been separated in the previous song. They both converse but like a toxic relationship the main character cannot accept the ego to fill up the void that is in his body. The ego corners him on the streets, he grabs this live loose wire near him and electrocutes the ego to death (the ego goes away like smoke in the air). The main character sees a bar ahead of him and decides to go in to get some relief. - Snake Eyes: The main character encounters this lady in the bar and decide to play the Snake Eyes drinking game. Both characters play long enough where the main character is intoxicated and when he sees the dice rolling again, he goes into a trance. Seeing the cubes of both dice transform into the turner's cubes of the dissolving door. He then snaps himself out of this trance. Waking up from this seeing that he was blackout drunk and realized he was in bed with this lady. Noticing in his sober state, the lady seems reptile in nature with her fangs and flicking tongue. Leaving with a bedsheet wrapped around him "I'd love to stay, but I'm not into fangs" - Tail End: no idea yet - Pulse: no idea yet - Junk: Side plot, Industrialist rich people discover the dissolving door and decide to shove their Landfill through the door. This seemingly solves their problem, dissolving all of their trash, but it is too good to be true. At the end of the song, the crew and perpetrators, all get dissolved anyways despite them not being near the door. Implying the door has some sort of power, omnipresence/all knowing maybe. Choose or be chosen too... - Nihilator: Not fully fleshed out, not sure how I would roll with this but I imagine the main character and this side character hanging out in a bar. This side character shows him a drink called Nihilator. They both journey through the effects of this concoction. This has to somehow lead up to Gross hypnosis. - Gross Hypnosis: The main character encounters a shattered crystal ball. Coming from it a shadow, backing him up against a wall. A message appears in the shattered glass as well in the form of a whispering voice, possibly in his head when reading it. A lyric sticks out saying "To the waking fragment of a fractured human soul". This could be referencing the shadowy figure to be the Ego thought to be killed back in Enemy. The voice then says "Reach for the turn of a liquid tomorrow. Existence in the strength of your hand. Sound of the gong breaks, ends the dance". Advice. To make the hypnosis part short, the Ego possesses the main character. The main character goes through a gross hypnosis, gross entrancing visuals and hallucinations, fighting it and trying to break it. There is a moment of peace then back to fighting it. The main character then remembers the advice then screams "Existence in the strength of my hand!". He then punches the gong and still in the punching motion all of a sudden is floating in space. Still in the same position, he then unclenches his fist to a reaching position. The dissolving door is there floating, in front of the sun. The main character lets go, and surrenders. Floating closer to the center of the dissolving door within melody. Reaching the center of the door once again, curls into a fetal position gets dissolved again. The camera shows him in the fetal position once again, pans out to show him laying on top of his bed. the room back to normal and the sun shining.
The craziest part of all this is that the few music videos that exist on these songs are nowhere close to what the lyrics seem to convey, at least to me. The few music videos seem to have no connection to one another, but all the songs seem to at some level, a good chunk of them mention the dissolving door or "The door" or the songs that seem to connect then lead back to the door anyways. I am truly truly curious and wonderous of what the intention of the artist is for these songs and what the story is. There is a story within the lyrics but a lot of it is vague and seems to be up to the imagination such as what I am conveying above. I love this album and I hope for more to see the beauty of this.
