Oh my goodness this was so fun. Below is Alphonse Mucha’s Zodiac which this piece is based on. The zodiac has become a mix of the wheel and the emblems of the Ancient Eight, the Houses of the Veil. The only one not visible is Berzelius, which Darlington would approve. Her headdress jewelry includes a blood red gem, a not so lucky rabbit’s foot for Babbit Rabbit, a star, and an ouroboros. Around Alex’s neck is the yoke described for her in Hell Bent. There’s a few more details throughout but I’ll let you find them yourself!

Some various fae for my monstrous beasts series! A high court tall one fae inspired by Puck, some winged fairies, and even some spindley fingered little ones (are they brownies or gnomes or some other little fae? Who knows but it’s probably not a good idea to find out. Beware the fairy fruit, the fairy ring, and the forest. You may not come back.

I remembered my professor telling me there is no feminine declension to the word “hero” and I decided to change that. So here’s some ancient ladies in masculine warrior dress from their respective cultures!

A Chinese (Terracotta) Warrior Girl

Featuring lion dogs, lucky red, gold, and jade green, magnolias, peonies, and dragon embroidery all on a pagoda and ink and wash style mountains! So happy to finally finish her and add her to the warrior girl line up.

Merlin the Prophet and Wizard

Merlin is one of those complicated tricksters characters I just can’t help but love. Like any character from the Arthurian Cycle, he’s an amalgamation of so many distinct ancient and slightly less ancient figures, mores, and cultural views. Whether he’s a mad half demon, a wise prophet, a wizard and the symbol of the dying druids, or a young magician in a bbc show, he’ll always have a hand in bringing the future to pass.

There are so many little fun wizard things in this piece potions, scrolls, a raven, feathers, a fire salamander, a mini lady in the lake bottle, nature inspired motifs for the Druid interpretation, a scarab beetles, some Celtic inspired checkered fabric, gilded illuminated manuscript edges, etc.

The drawing of Leia is actually from 2022. I always intended to draw Han with her but had trouble getting his features right, hence the study from this morning!

Anyways modern au or at least clothing where Leia wears a knitted turtle neck and mom jeans and Han’s in a Henley, a denim vest, and adidas track pants. I don’t make the rules
