In my mind, dragons eventually came back to Berk before Hiccup and Astrid died. Hiccup and Toothless both lament a perfect world where Hiccup would have lived as a feral dragon person free of his responsibilities as chief. Because inside, he’s a very free spirited whimsical person who spent the majority of his life using his ingenuity to create a technologically progressive community for Berkians. And he became a confident adult man who saw worth in himself without an almost divine dragon friend as his identity and purpose. But also… what could have been if he could have spent his whole life doing what Valka did with the Bewilderbeast x1000000000.

I learned recently from a park ranger that the “eye shine” you see from shining a light at animals in the dark is caused by a certain type of eye membrane that humans don’t have. So I think the glint in the Creature’s eyes in Frankenstein is a great way to give an uncanny, “not human” feeling to him.
