guys i’m—
me: bo burnham’s song is fine and i like it and he is the exception to this, but in general i think a lot of white men who make jokes about white women are just making misogynistic jokes in general and then tacking ‘white’ onto it to make it seem progressive. this does not mean we shouldn’t talk about how white women are often foundational to upholding white supremacy but i am uncomfortable with white men in particular using it as an excuse to make misogynistic jokes that have nothing to do with those critiques whatsoever
a bunch of commenters who are incapable of reading comprehension: but bo burnham’s song was good and it wasn’t misogynistic!!
It also helps that he’s been victim to a very online white woman who has stalked him and created fake profiles to try and trick people into thinking they dated for years when they had never even met and she’s now a major social media influencer. Like. He not only handled the topic well but was also focusing on a very specific type of white woman and how her chronically online behavior negatively impacted his life.
And, before anyone asks, yes it is Gabby Hannah or however you spell her name.
WHAT THE FUCK LMAO

well. forgot i was on the sims blog…
I love the way ppl talk about gone girl on this site it's so funny "why couldn't she just be normal she didn't have to do all that" because it's a thriller about a batshit lady! it would be a completely different movie if she did completely different things! she's not real guys! by the way I watched this movie called "reservoir dogs" why didn't these guys just NOT rob a bank then they wouldn't have gotten themselves into that mess! idiots.
If you’re going to get a cat, you must understand two things:
1. As far as a cat is concerned, the highest form of entertainment is annoying another cat on purpose.
2. If you have a good rapport with your cat, you count as another cat.
You can divert much of this behaviour by getting two cats, so that they can annoy each other, but tradeoff is that sometimes they’ll decide to team up on you instead.
oh my god….there are people alive in this day and age who don’t know how to torrent movies
a friend the other day was like….”oh i really want to watch this movie but i cant find it anywhere on netflix or online” and i said “oh you can just torrent it” and she gave me the blankest look…and then i said “you know…piratebay? kickasstorrents?” and she just frowned at me…what’s happening to this generation

I think half of them prefer streaming sites and half of them are just lawful, for some unfathomable reason.
But seriously, torrents have declined in recent years for a number of reasons. One of them is Netflix and assorted legal channels, which reduced piracy in general. A lot of people ended up pirating content only because they couldn’t find a legal and convenient – and reasonably affordable – way to access it. (On the other hand, the fragmentation of (legal) online video had the opposite effect. If people need to subscribe to a whole bunch of services to keep up to date with their interests, they’ll go back to piracy. And as it happens, they did.)
The most obvious reason is the rise of streaming portals. These became very popular, because they’re less of a hassle compared to torrents, and maybe because it’s like watching TV, so psychologically it doesn’t register as piracy. For populations used to cable television (which varies a lot from country to country), accessing streaming sites via Kodi-based hardware is even easier once someone sets it up. It’s not just for younger people who never learnt how to torrent because they didn’t need to, it’s also for older people who couldn’t learn how to torrent.
Another reason is faster internet speeds, which made direct HTTP downloads for larger files practical – and the BitTorrent protocol a bit redundant in that sense.
And another is ISP blocking of torrent sites, which currently doesn’t affect (most of) Eastern Europe or North America, but it’s a thing elsewhere. Even if it can be easily bypassed, it adds another layer of complexity and that’s enough to reduce traffic.
ISP blocking globally and in the EU
For comparison, here’s an estimate of how many people watched the Game of Thrones season premiere in the first 24 hours since it aired (though I should stress it’s just an estimate, measuring methods are debatable or unknown):
17.4 million legally from HBO
54 million from elsewhere, of which:
76.6% from streaming sites
12.2% from web downloads
10.8% from public torrent sites
0.5% from private torrent sites
Torrents aren’t dead though. One, they are still enormously popular in some regions, including the very populous East Asia. And two, streaming sites often acquire the files they stream from torrents, it’s a symbiotic (maybe even parasitic…) relation. Last year, global download traffic was dominated by YouTube, Netflix, and streaming services, but upload traffic was dominated by (dun dun DUN!!!) BitTorrent. It’s not what you take, it’s what you give. ;)
theres a twitter post thats like "do you guys have any music you listen to where you just...dont know anything about the band members??" as if thats strange and abnormal
I know nothing about anyone I listen to, not even what they look like and it's great. my opinions and emotions around music aren't influenced by anything except how it makes me feel
😆 I know what the album art looks like and that's about it
