some of my favorite jenni outfits! from legionnaires 61, 58, and 23 respectively
bonus look (from impulse 9):
Missing his ex
re-reading avengers children's crusade. and the way billy's entire justification for why he's the scarlet witch's son, why he isn't just some magic user, is that tommy is there and he's just like quicksilver but also looks like billy and that has to mean something. he repeats this again and again, in his internal monologue, to the avengers, everyone. and then he turns around and calls tommy a sociopath. really makes it seem like in this point in their lives, Billy straight up doesn't like Tommy. but he's obsessed with what Tommy represents. it was kinda dehumanizing and objectifying in that sense.
Banging my head against a wall, I need to lock in and write whatever fifth dimensional plane of existential angst these two have going on
Magic is targeting me specifically with this set
Clark Kent gaslighting Lois Lane into believing he’s not Superman.
black comic readers will say "buying black lead comics or black characters comics from dc doesn't stop them from getting axed and it's been literally 1200 days since dc has had a black ongoing so we're calling for a boycott to put pressure on dc by not buying comics and instead directly supporting black creatives" and here come the dumbest white people on the earth going "but dc is releasing pride month comics, do you hate queer people? but dc has female creators releasing comics, do you hate women? this boycott is so disorganised. i can't believe you hate queer people"
Tommy Shepherd/Speed from marvel comics
Thomas "Tommy" Shepherd aka Speed from Marvel Comics says fag!
the unfortunate thing about being scott summers is that if it were anybody else his obsessive preparedness would probably be a sign of mental illness but he’s literally not even wrong to be worried. he IS always in a situation. like fuck, the white pharaoh is after him and one of his brothers is evil now and all of the members of his polyamorous situationship are lost in the tunnels
thinking about the fuckass America Chavez retcon again. I know I complain about Scarlet Witch + Quicksilver fans who always harp on about "retconning the retcon" but that is how I feel about Ame. Taking all of her established history and lore, even the things that she'd witnessed with her own eyes as an adult, and claiming that it was just an elaborate story she made up as a little girl is so lazy. The whole thing was unjustified in my eyes and the character has been totally aimless ever since, so I honestly do wish there was a way to pretend it never happened.
I want to staple these numbers to people’s faces any time they try to explain to me that N52 wasn’t really that bad
This is one of those things that I wanted to look into more and my initial searches haven't gotten a lot of details...except this
As with the other lists, I will include those writers who have been credited so far in the post-Flashpoint universe. For simplicity's sake,
This list stopped updating a while ago and probably isn't reflective of the complaint above, but it also illustrates the point well.
My eyebrows kept going up as I scrolled
Hi! I made an addition to this post with links to a bunch of resources on women in N52 (or to be more accurate—after Dan Didio took over) and DC’s issues with writers during that period more broadly. It’s far from comprehensive, but there’s a lot there to dig through.
I especially recommend looking at Tim Hanley’s gendercrunching blog posts, which offer an in-depth look at what creative roles women have filled at both DC and Marvel for a decade plus worth of comics.
Both the post on editorial’s treatment Stephanie Brown (which is what this is a screenshot of) and the one on Cassandra Cain are also excellent.
Enjoy!
You don’t understand! I love you!
Everybody tap into this rn
tommy and billy deserve to find out abt their grandpa's 60 year gay situationship/relationship/divorce. as a treat
