On Bobby’s front porch there was a girl. She had a plastic bag of things. The kind of things you might pick up at a gas station if you lost your luggage: a plastic comb, deodorant, a toothbrush, a water bottle, and a bag or two of trail mix. Her jeans were too big, her flip-flops and t-shirt might have come from that same convenience store.
She looked around sadly. She seemed weary. Not that monsters couldn’t wear a pathetic body if they wanted to, but if she was human, she was in an awful sorry state. She turned and looked like she could see him through the closed door.
“Hi Bobby,” she said. “It’s just me.”
“Do I know you?” he asked.
She frowned. “Maybe not? This might be our first meeting. I’m have trouble keeping the timeline straight.” She smiled a wide smile. “I hope it is our first meeting. If it is, then you didn’t get rid of the flowers because your upset with me, or the world. We just haven’t done them yet.” She pulled back her sleeve and held out her arm. “I’m ready for my tests now.”
“Tests?” Bobby was pretty sure he knew what she was talking about. He was less sure she knew what she was talking about.
“Silver and holy water.” Her smiled faded and a furrow formed between her brow. “No, that happens with more light. Is the sun up? Maybe I should sleep out here. My van’s here. Dean hasn’t called has he?
“You know Dean?” If the boys had sent him this waif, well, that would be a reasonable explanation. They were being far too open and generous with his life and safety, but it was a better explanation than anything demon or apocalypse related.
“That’s why I’m here,” she said. “So you can introduce us.”
“Why the hell would I do that?”
“Hell is the why,” she replied. She looked off to the east, which was still dark. “There’s the sun,” she said. She turned back to him. “I can help with all the hell that’s coming. The devil’s gate. John’s deal. Dean’s deal. Sam’s addiction. The whole coming apocalypse.” She said in a rush. “I can’t stop it. They always choose to save the world, in every time-line, but I can see things and I can help. I know you don’t believe me. You don’t believe me until after Dean calls, and I tell you who possessed Sam,” she paused, as if loosing her train of thought. “Has Dean called yet?” she asked, again.
At that exact moment Bobby’s phone rang. He looked down to see Dean’s number. Eyeing the strange girl warily, he stepped back inside, closing and locking the door behind him.
“What’s up Dean?” Bobby asked.
“Sam’s missing. It’s been more than 24 hours and he’s not answering my calls,” Dean said, worry lacing his voice.
“Did you two fight?” Bobby wondered.
“No. No, we were good. Had a “moment” even. Then he went out for food and never came back.”
“Huh” Bobby’s eyes slid over to his closed door, his brow furrowed.
“What do you mean “huh.” I’m going out of my mind Bobby.”
“Well, there’s someone on my porch right now. A girl. Knew you were going to call and said she’d tell me who possessed Sam.”
“Shit. Sam can’t be— Shit.” Dean cursed.
“I’m gonna leave the line open and talk to her. Listen in.”
