There should totally be a movement called “Sleep in Public” where people defend their right to sleep on public property. Sleep in your cars. Sleep on benches. Sleep at the park. Just make it a mundane and regular part of life to see someone napping in the library. It would make it much harder to single out the homeless for harassment if everyone else is doing the same thing and much harder to argue that it’s a “threat to public safety” when it’s so clearly harmless.
Scenes From Atlanta Forest - Defend Atlanta Forest
Wild to see this on my dash.
The situation, as you can imagine, is fucked. Two huge areas in south/southeast Atlanta have been bought & there are plans to raze the forest. One to build MORE film studios for Blackhall Studios (think Venom, Jumanji), and the other -- Cop City.
There is a massive plan to essentially make a fake-city for APD and other law enforcement agencies to train in, to practice their increased militarization. The plan is bigger than the NYPD training ground iirc.
The Cop City news caught a lot of citizens surprised, and after a lot of push back, Atlanta City Council was basically like "Okay, fine, here's a day everyone can call in and comment". I think it was something like 13 hours of calls, 65% disapproval of Cop City. And City Council approved anyways. They pulled the same stunt with the juvenile detention center in Decatur like 20 years earlier.
And I'm sure no one will be surprised to hear that this is in a predominantly black neighborhood in ATL. City Council would never dream of allowing forest to be destroyed & Cop City to be built in Buckhead or other whiter, wealthier areas of ATL (not that it should be built at all!!)
There's a ton more information on their Twitter & their other social media in the linktree. Talk to your neighbors, call city council, provide aid to the forest defenders if you can.
Defend The Forest
They are cutting trees in the largest urban green space in the country for the largest pig training facility in the country.
Ever think about transmascs’ voices? Every transmasc I know has one of the best voices and I love listening to them talk–like honestly it’s downright mesmerizing hearing transmascs speak (in the platonic sense or the t4t sense, depending on the person) and I feel like my life is enriched every time I’m on a call with one or watch a transmasc’s twitch stream or Anything.
Transmascs who speak super expressively? Love them, so enthralling to listen to.
Transmascs with flatter speaking pitches? Fucking showstopping, one of the most comforting sounds in the world.
Transmascs who love their voices as-is, on T or off of it? Amazing. You deserve that confidence, kings.
Transmascs who want to change them, on T or off of it? Solidarity forever, you deserve a voice that you feel comfortable with.
Transmascs who aren’t on T, or who are on T, with voices that don’t pass? Unironically this category encompasses some of my favorite sounds in the world.
Transmascs whose voices do pass? It’s a known fact that men’s voices are excellent, so…
Just. Transmascs’ voices.
Did you know that your brain reads faster than your eye? We humans store learned words and so just a few letters are enough to recognize who
neurodivergents with no boundaries about your personal information I love you
people for real take the generalization of "transmasc invisibility and transfem hypervisibility" too seriously and fail to recognize the actual breadth of the trans experience, not to mention the people who don't fit into either category. There is absolutely some truth to those ideas don't get me wrong but it's not all there is, and the dividing lines between experiences are not as defined as you think.
Any time I've tried to talk about outward violence towards trans men (e.g, from terfs) it gets derailed- even unintentionally- by people who truly think the only experience a transmasc individual can have is one that's silent or passive. I'm starting to get really frustrated by it lol.
It helps if you realize "invisibility" actually means "invisibility of the violence committed against them and erasure of even the most blatant hatred of them", and "hypervisibility" actually means "hypervisibility of the most stereotyped and hated aspects of them, as a method of erasure of hatred and violence against them."

Capitalists insist that capitalism is the best economic system because financial gain is the best motive for hard work and productivity.
But if that were true, then employees who only care about receiving a paycheck would be considered the best employees.
So why are employees expected to have a reason for being interested in the job other than being paid? Why are employees often expected to not even ask about what their salary will be?
Could it be because capitalists know that financial gain is not even close to the best motive for hard work and productivity? Could it be because they're hypocrites who are motivated by financial gain but complain when other people are also?
Liking men is not a curse
Liking men is not unfortunate, or impure compared to liking other genders. Loving men is a morally neutral thing, and can be a wonderful thing and a thing worth celebrating to the individual person; don’t shame people for it
Every midwit literary fiction novel from the past 5 years has been called something like The Little Things We Do To Ourselves or Back Then I Didn’t Think So Clearly or I Have Been Trying To Venmo You.
My book is called "Please Don't Ever Feel Guilty or Be Afraid That I'll Resent You For Flaking Out or Being Overwhelmed" and uh. Accurate, valid, and a terrible title.
Mine is ”But I am having problems with Task Management”
“At This Point, Promoting Him is My Part-time Job”
"It Is A Wonderful Thing To Know You"

WTF are those obelisks on the right?…
Tasty obelisk fries..
“It’s digestible” has got to be the laziest goal I’ve ever seen achieved by a food product.
“It’s digestible”
“It’s digestible” is pertinent!! Okay, for those of you who haven’t researched Crisco for writing fic about gay sex in the mid-late 60s:
The first-edition of The Joy of Gay Sex, published in 1977, declared, “Vegetable shortening may be the best lubricant, since it is not only greasy but also digestible”[4] Such a statement perhaps gives new meaning to the companies boastful declarations that “Its digestible” and “Crisco has been making life in the kitchen more delicious for years.” Similarly, in the 1978 sex manual The Advocate Guide to Gay Health, Crisco even earned an entry in the book’s index. Discussions of the shortening’s use as an anal lubricant indicate its popularity, with statements such as: “The lubricant, typically the cultic Crisco, must be copious.”[5] In fact, Crisco was so synonomus with gay sex that discos and bars around the world took on the name, such as Crisco Disco in New York City, which was one of the premiere clubs during the 1970s and early 1980s. Other clubs or bathhouses, such as Club Z in Seattle, even featured murals with Crisco. Thus, Crisco was conversely also one of many things that led to the formation of gay identities during the 20th century.

The more you know! :D
I have learned a new thing today.
Love this post for so many reasons but most especially because this is from all the way back in 2012 and and yet not a single blog in this thread is deactivated
I enjoy that not only does this have a link to an actual source, but the link still fucking works.
but @rhea314 you didnt include a picture of the crisco disco! AND MY GOD THE DJ BOOTH WAS A GIANT CRISCO CAN!
Go dance and get fisted. Fucking iconic.
Love the gay history, but i just wanna correct that the “it’s digestible” in the gay stuff was a reference to crisco’s tagline it had been using since 1911, the actual meaning of its digestible is because it’s main competition came from “enhanced” lards which were rendered pig fat mixed with non food thickeners that literally did not digest and caused people to basically just shit out pig cream, since crisco was veggie based the body digested it along with the food
And in case you were still wondering, @mudwerks.. Tuna Croquettes
This post is the opposite of net zero information. Not only did I learn several new facts about gay history but also we rounded our way back to the original question of the tag line and the mini obelisks.
It’s a net profit of information. 12/10 post
Personally im kinda frustrated with the whole “biological sex isnt real narrative” thats been going on lately because i mean. Ok then whatever etc. etc. but also. It still has pretty big ramifications for how you are treated as soon as they find out your assigned gender (yes, even while still in the womb, scarily enough) and to disregard this fact with “well biological sex isnt real” isnt gonna benefit anybody. And it especially wont benefit anybody that had the unfortunate circumstance of having the “female” gender assigned to them at birth and it ESPECIALLY doesnt benefit those who were assigned female and are trans/nonbinary, since people tend to be obsessed with weaponizing the whole “but youre not a woman” rhetoric whenever we try to discuss our experiences with misogyny.
This avoidance also contributes to intersex erasure by making it significantly more difficult for us to discuss our experiences with intersexism. It's gender essentialism disguised with progressive paint.
"the phrase 'sex based oppression' is a TERF dogwhistle" and "many if not most forms of oppression are intrinsically tied to ones perceived or assigned sex" can and do coexist factually.
Gender and sex are both real, but they are defined by social norms, neither should be "abolished". They should be LIBERATED, reformed as norms based in autonomy. Neither should be used to justify violating the autonomy of others.
