Floyd’s tail wagged rapidly as he grabbed the giant teddy bear from the vender, clutching it tightly.
Looking like a puppy who just received their very first toy.
His girlfriend -Yin- laughed along.
Holding a bucket of cheese curds in her hands.
“That thing is almost big as you!” She joked, her laughter bubbly and bright.
A couple of nearby patrons giggling at the absurdity of a wolf holding something nearly as big as him, his arms barely wrapping around its torso.
“What’s next, baby?” He asked.
His wagging tail almost knocking over a nearby trash can.
Yin pointed towards a picnic table in the shade - hinting that she probably wanted to take a break.
Floyd took her hand in his and brought her to the table.
Putting the giant teddy bear between them on the table.
Yin took one of the cheese curds from the bucket and popped it into her mouth.
Her black eyeliner makes her violet blue eyes sparkle.
Curling her thick dark hair between her fingers.
“Do you need a drink?” Floyd asked her “There’s a vending machine nearby over there” pointing behind her.
“Just water” she answered, Floyd nodding and getting up and taking out his wallet from his cargo pants.
A few other alterhuman’s hanging around a nearby water fountain.
While waiting - Floyd faintly heard Yin talking to someone whose voice he couldn’t recognize.
Yin sounding more and more uncomfortable with each word.
Yin had her shoulders hunched, clutching her phone tightly in her hands like it was the only thing that was keeping her grounded.
A man looms over her; looking like a stereotypical football player from every 90’s movie.
He had a buzz cut, wearing clothes that immediately made Floyd think “douche”.
Leaning in close to Yin that made his fur bristle.
The man’s cologne wafted towards Floyd’s nose and the smell almost made the wolf gag; smelling like a mixture of cat piss and BO.
Poor Yin was struggling not to gag as well.
The man doesn’t even notice Floyd at first as he came back to the table with the water bottles in hand, too focused on his girlfriend to care.
“Uhm…who are you?” Floyd interjected.
His ears flattening against his skull.
Yin turned around and her body deflated slightly with relief with his presence.
The man immediately looked at him with a barely concealed disgusted look.
“Who is this guy, Yin?” He asked - his lips curling into a snarl.
“That’s my boyfriend” Yin retorted.
Her eyes narrowed towards the mystery man.
Her nails digging into her biceps.
“Boyfriend?” The man jeered, like Yin just told the lamest joke ever.
“Wow, you DEFINITELY downgraded a lot” he wheezed - his antics catching the attention of nearby fair goers.
Floyd getting caught off guard by how rude the guy was being off-rip.
“Buddy, what the hell is your problem?” Floyd fumed - his lips curling back to flash his teeth at him.
“I’m just here trying to have a nice time with my girlfriend and you came up and started being a weirdo for no reason”
“Shut up, furry”
“I’m not a furry-“
“I’m not fucking talking to you”
Yin suddenly stood up, slamming her hands on the table.
“Deven, I’m not playing this game with you anymore. You can’t just waltz on me in the middle of a date and worm your way back into my life after all the bullshit you put me through!”.
Floyd looked at her confused before she grabbed his hand, leaving behind the half-finished bucket of cheese curds behind.
Dragging Floyd to the parking lot as the man started cursing them out.
His voice getting quieter and quieter.
Yin was practically fuming, steam practically coming out of her ears.
Kicking up dust with every step.
Floyd struggled to keep his grip on the giant teddy bear as Yin dragged him to the car.
“Yin baby, what was all that about?” He asked - his yellow eyes wide with confusion.
Yin fumbling with her keys.
Almost dropping them a couple of times.
He wanted to ask, to ask for clarification about who that man was and what his problem was.
But he knew that asking right now was probably a bad idea with how angry she looks.
Calming her down was likely the best move, especially if she was going to be the one driving.
He placed a hand on her shoulder.
Digging his paw pads into her muscles.
“Let’s just take a breather for a second, babe?” Floyd encouraged, his hand on her shoulder making her stop for a second.
“I don’t want to talk about it right now” She said - her shoulders slumped slightly.
“Maybe later” Floyd nodded, dropping it for now as Yin managed to open the car door.

“Feeling better now, babe?” Floyd asked Yin as she took a sip of her drink.
Draped in her favorite weighted blanket.
Floyd sits a foot away from her on the couch; close enough to comfort her but far away enough to let her breathe.
“Sorry that guy ruined our date at the fair…” “You don’t have to apologize, Floyd. It wasn’t your fault”.
The wolf looked to his side awkwardly “Who was that guy anyway? You guys seemed to know each other”.
Yin let out a tired sigh.
“He was some weirdo that I met back when I graduated high school”
“Are you guys ex’s or something?”
“No- not at all. We barely counted as a couple and only went out with him out of pity”
“So what’s his deal? Seriously?”
“I honestly don’t know anymore. I’m surprised he even had friends back then”
“What happened then? That made you guys break up? Cause he acted like you two were still dating from were I was standing”
“He’s probably still angry at me for snitching on him to the cops”
“Wait what-“
“Yeah, found out he was using and dealing with illegal steroids. So I was like ‘fuck this shit’ and told pretty much everyone. Lost everything by the end of the week. Fell off the face of the earth after that”
Floyd’s ears folded back.
He had a feeling that the guy might’ve been bad news; but knowing that he did steroids made his fur stand on end.
He knew what steroids do to someone, especially if they were sports-related.
“Did he hit you or something?” Floyd asked carefully.
“Thankfully no. He probably can’t punch for anything with how many concussions he got”.
Floyd let out a silent sigh of relief.
“I’m just surprised that he somehow managed to run into me and pull that shit. He probably thought he could worm his way back into my life”.
Yin set her cup down on the coffee table in front of the couch.
Relaxing back into the cushions.
“I just thought I wouldn’t have to see that loser again”.
“Me too. He should seriously get his eyes checked if he thought this was a furry suit” Floyd exasperated - motioning to his very animated face.
Which earned a chuckle from Yin.
The sparkle in her eyes returned.
“He’s probably too stupid to know the difference” she joked.
Her eyes crinkling at the corners.
“We still have some daylight yet, sooo…you wanna watch a movie?”.
“Sure, we have nothing better to do anyway”.

August looked outside of his bedroom window, the glass somewhat frosted over.
Snow falling down in a gentle stream.
Everything covered in a blanket of white, like the blanket wrapped around him.
He couldn’t help but feel a sense of sorrow; not because of the weather - but knowing he couldn’t go outside.
It wasn’t because he didn’t like the snow or the cold in general.
He couldn’t because the cold was dangerous to him.
It was a condition he was born with that makes any temperature below 50 degrees deadly to him.
Making him more susceptible to hypothermia.
He knows that staying inside was for his own good.
But it gets extremely lonely - making him feel like a princess trapped in a tower.
Constantly left out on everything.
Unable to spread his wings and fly along with his fellow avian’s.
To enjoy being around the other owls of the empire.
His friends always try to make sure that he’s doing well and distract him from his loneliness.
Always trying to make the wintertime more bearable for him.
To comfort him.
He was thankful for everything that they did for him to make him feel better, but it was never enough.
“Auggie! There’s someone here to see you!” One of his parents called out from downstairs.
Making August jolt up in his bed.
Swinging his legs over and sprinted towards the staircase - wondering who it was that his parents welcomed in.
Spotting a flurry of green and black feathers.
“Hey August!” Gemma greeted excitedly, a wide smile spreading across their face.
Wearing the shirt that had their grandparents coffee shop logo printed on it.
Holding a big paper brown bag in their hands.
Their boots caked in snow that they stomped onto the welcome mat below them.
“Gemma!” August exclaimed “wha- what are you doing here? I thought you said that you were busy today”.
“I was. But I managed to get a pick-me-up for you!” Gemma held up the bag to August, expecting him to take it.
The owl gripped the bag.
Surprised by how heavy it was.
“What’s in it?” He asked.
“Open it and find out!” Gemma egged on, motioning towards to the table nearby.
August set it down, carefully pulling the top of the bag open.
The smell of freshly baked goods and fresh coffee filling his nose.
There were four chocolate-filled croissants, white chocolate mocha, cinnamon latte, peppermint tea, and hot chocolate.
All filled his nose - making his mouth immediately water.

“Feel better?” Gemma asked August, looking at him expectantly as he took a sip of the peppermint tea.
Watching as his pale face gained a dusting of pink blush on his nose and cheeks.
His hickory brown eyes developing a sparkle that wasn’t there since fall.
He took another tenitive sip of his tea.
Making his orange-red feathers puffing out.
“Yeah…” August drawled, gripping the paper cup.
“You didn’t have to go through all this trouble for me”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Auggie. It’s the least I could do”
“Yes, but…”
“Oh come on Auggie, you know I love taking care of you!”
August’s head perked up at Gemma’s words.
“Everyone knows that you hate having to miss out on everything because of the cold. And that you always stop by my grandparents coffee shop every chance that you get, so why not give you this?”.
The sinornithosaurus motioned to the goods between them, still steaming.
Clutching the chocolate croissant in their hands.
Being mindful of their mouth piercings as they ate.
August couldn’t help but smile “Thanks…” he said simply.
“It’s no problem at all! I enjoy seeing you smile despite being stuck at home for so long” Gemma beamed.
Watching as August’s wings relaxed and laid flat on the floor.
Finally feeling content.

Desdemona was stuck in this hell for centuries now.
An endless colorless void with no sound, no smell, no taste, no nothing.
Just her.
The void was her punishment by humans, to punish her for the terror she released upon them.
Chained to the dusty ashy ground by their ankles and wrists.
She didn’t even remember who put her down here, or if they were even alive anymore.
Or if the humans in general even remember her either.
Or if they were even walking on the earth anymore.
Her once plump frame now has sunken in and skeletal, the skin on her wrists and ankles having torn away from her thrashing; looking red and infected.
The void having sapped every ounce of her strength, slowly unable to even lift their head.
She tried to struggle, tried to fight, tried to scream, to escape her never ending chains.
But every movement felt like climbing a mountain.
So she could do nothing but lay on her back; staring up at the empty dark red sky above her.
Leaving her to wonder how she hasn’t withered away after all this time in the void.
Wondering if she will ever return to her former glory ever again.
“Ooooh, pretty!” A bubbly child-like echoed through the silence, the fluttering sound making Desdemona‘s eyes snap open.
Their heart pounding so fast she thought it was going to burst out of her chest.
She looked around desperately.
Trying to find the source of the noise inside of her void prison.
She tried to speak but no noise came out.
Not even a whimper.
Her chains rattled as she tried to move.
The voice was almost overwhelming, to the point it made tears fall.
Panting and wheezing.
Reaching out with every last fiber of strength she had in her body.
“What is this?” The voice said again with curiosity.
A faint white light appears in the sky, right in Desdemona‘s line of sight.
Making her squint her eyes.
Their body being slowly lifted towards the light - the chains crumbling away into rust and ash.
Instinctively covering their eyes as she came closer and closer to the light before everything turned to white.

A warm breeze shocked Desdemona‘s body, shocking their nerves.
The sound of birds chirping and trees swaying.
So many colors invading their vision like an explosion.
Her body shaking from the senses she was denied for so long.
“Finally……Free…..” she rasped, the strange sensation of the chains absence becoming very apparent.
Doubling over on themselves.
“Hi….?” A tiny voice below them caught their attention.
Desdemona looked down and saw a little girl no older than six.
She had soft copper brown hair that was tied in a single braid, her warm ivory skin having a few little moles dotting it, her dark brown eyes taking an amber shade in the sunlight.
Holding the bottle that was once her prison.
The girl looked more surprised than scared.
Looking up at the cosmic being with wide eyes.
“Who….” Desdemona rasped again, pointing a long clawed finger towards the small human.
The girl seemed to catch what she was trying to say.
“My name is Diana, what’s yours?” The child said innocently, like she was greeting a new friend.
“Are you okay? Why are you so bone-y?” Diana asked in a naive tone, putting the bottle down with gentle care.
The scent of sugar hit Desdemona‘s nose - her stomach growling loud enough to make them flinch.
“S….s…sugar” Desdemona muttered slowly.
The mere thought of food making their mouth salivate.
Diana dug into one of her pockets.
Pulling out a strange-looking yellow circular object wrapped in a translucent material.
Their body being girl tentatively holds her hand out with the candy in her palm.
The cosmic being gently reached out their hand to take it; being careful not to accidentally poke her with her long thin claws.
Picking it up between their forefinger and thumb.
She thanked the girl, popping the candy in her mouth and shivering when a sour taste hit their tongue.
Swallowing it almost immediately to fill the empty pit of their stomach.
“T…t…thank you” Desdemona thanked again, whipping her mouth with the back of their hand.
Her gratitude making the young girl smile.
The cosmic being felt a sense of joy.
The type of joy of being denied something for so long.
Even if the said thing was so small and insignificant compared to something like her.
“That’s all I have. But maybe I can share some of my lunch with you” Diana offered.
Which Desdemona accepted quickly.
“I still have some of it leftover from lunchtime, I can bring it to you when school is over”.
Then- a loud ringing echoed through the air.
Making Desdemona flinch from the shrill grading sound.
Diana frowning at the noise.
“That’s the recess bell, I have to go back inside”.
The child turned and started running away, waving goodbye to the otherworldly creature.
Leaving her alone once more but not as terrible as the void.
Desdemona grabbed the bottle that the little girl was holding.
Crushing it underneath her fingers.
A satisfying feeling spreading through her chest at the destruction of her prison.
Desdemona figured she should find a way to thank the girl properly - it’s the least they could do for their savior.
Maybe they can turn her into her priestess?

“Careful!” Petra panicked as Jung-hoon’s foot came dangerously close to the sidewalks edge.
Gently grabbing their wrist to keeping them from falling flat on the road.
Readjusting their stance as the crosswalk light turned red.
Petra’s ears folded back with worry.
“You almost fell there” he said as he let out a soft sigh of relief.
“Just lost my footing” Jung-hoon shrugged casually, readjusting their darkened glasses.
Petra letting go of their wrist and hooking his arm with theirs.
“I just don’t want to get hurt” he said softly, curling his fingers with theirs.
“I know, Petra. I know” they said simply “But you don’t have to stress yourself out over me”.
Petra looked down at the concrete floor.
Sure, Jung-hoon wasn’t completely helpless.
They didn’t need him to constantly be by their side 24/7, they can take care of themselves despite the blindness.
But he can’t help but feel compelled to do it.
What if they get hurt and can’t help them?
What if they accidentally wander off to somewhere dangerous?
What if their cane gets stolen?
What if they have to pay for something but can’t?
What if they get assaulted by someone and he isn’t there?
The crosswalk light turned green.
The cars slowing down to a gradual halt.
Jung-hoon’s cane tapping on the asphalt.
Petra’s grip tightening up.
Carefully looking both ways as he walked.
“You’re overthinking again” Jung-hoon said as they reached the other side.
Turning their head towards Petra.
“I know that you worry about me. I know that you don’t want me to get hurt or anything but you’re just going to get yourself fatigued”.
Petra loosened his grip on them.
“I know but…. I can’t help myself” he mumbles “I can’t help but think the worst case scenario when your out in public”.
Jung-hoon gave him a sympathetic look.
They knew that Petra couldn’t help themselves, they knew that well before their relationship turned romantic.
They knew that it was a part of him being a German shepherd therian.
It was the part of the breed.
But Jung-hoon knew that constantly stressing about the “what ifs” is just going to burn him out.
“I know. I know that you just want to help me out but this amount of overthinking isn’t healthy for you or me”.
“I know….” He admitted with a defeated voice, his head hanging down in shame.
“But I appreciate the things you do for me Petra” Jung-hoon added “and I’m thankful for you”.
They reached out and scratched him behind his ear.
His tail wagging slightly.
“You just being there is enough for me. You don’t have to go above and beyond for me” Jung-hoon proclaimed, tugging his hand forward.

The KOSA/KIDS act will force people to send in their IDS to do basically anything, otherwise, for people who don’t send it in or minors, nearly everything would be censored, LGBTQ+, things trump doesn’t like, etc.

“What is that?” MorningBubble asked BlizzardToes; who was holding a strange yellow oval-shaped fruit.
Smelling the smell of citrus from it but intensely sour.
BlizzardToes held the oval yellow fruit closer to her face “it’s a lemon!” color said excitedly.
“I found it while I was on a hunting patrol. I didn’t even know that they grew here!”.
MorningBubble leaned in and sniffed it, their fur bristling from the strong sour scent.
The skin around it was surprisingly thick yet soft - almost like a beavers pelt.
A singular leaf sprouting from where its stem must’ve grown from.
“What are you gonna do with it? Why are you showing this to me?” MorningBubble asked.
BlizzardToes smiled widely “Don’t know! But I’m going to find out!”.
BlizzardToes bolted out of the medicine den, kicking up puffs of dusty dirt behind color.
Scampering across the camp like a startled deer.
Holding multiple lemons in color curled tail, jumping over rocks and cats.
The jack slipped into the alchemist den; tiny washed-up crystals tied and hanging from the dens ceiling.
Rock-made shelves that held wooden bowls and other items.
“Hey, LoonFang!” BlizzardToes shouted, startling the tom that was in there.
Almost making him drop whatever he was holding in his paws.
“For Star-Clan’s sake, BlizzardToes! Do you have to yell like that when you come here?” LoonFang hissed in annoyance.
Liquid sloshing around in the bowl he set down on the rock self in front of him.
The jack apologized quickly before throwing the lemons to the Alchemist’s feet.
The yellow fruit bouncing scarcely on the floor.
LoonFang picked it up gingerly, the sunlight reflecting off the fruits surface.
Giving it a tentative sniff.
“Hmm” LoonFang chirped curiously.
“Is this what I think this is?” He asked, BlizzardToes nodding color head in response.
Lemons aren’t exactly common in these parts - especially in Island-Clan’s mainland territory.
Not to mention the animals that might’ve eaten them.
Even though they’re so sour that it feels like you’re taking a bite out of a lightning bolt.
And getting this many in one patrol was surprising to say the least.
“You thinking what I’m thinking?” BlizzardToes egged on, bumping color head against LoonFang’s.
Color smoky grey eyes wide and sparkling.
Making LoonFang roll his.
“I already knew once you came in here screaming my ear off”.

LoonFang dug his claws into the lemon skin, tearing it off with unnerving accuracy.
Quickly turning his head when the sour juices squirted at him like a venomous snake.
BlizzardToes taking the freshly peeled fruit and squishes it into one of the wooden bowls.
Carefully picking out the seeds from the lemon mush.
“What should we add? Rosemary or cat-tail fluff?” BlizzardToes asked “Or maybe even dried kelp!”.
”Let’s start small first” LoonFang countered.
Grabbing a bowl of sea-foam and grounded up dried palm leaves.
Ordering BlizzardToes to grab one of the washed up two-leg objects.
BlizzardToes held the object as still as color can for LoonFang.
LoonFang kept his own paws steady as he poured the contents into it.
“The juice” LoonFang ordered, pointing his claw towards the bowl that had the lemon juice in it.
The sea-foam made a strange popping sounds when BlizzardToes poured it in.
Kinda like burning charcoal; the best comparison BlizzardToes could think of.
LoonFang narrowed his eyes at the glass object - looking dissatisfied.
“I need something else…” the tom whispered to himself, his eyes focusing on the shelves.
BlizzardToes followed his gaze.
Color eyes landing on the shelf that held washed up sea-glass and clear quartz.
The sea-glass was BlizzardToes favorite.
Sea-glass had a tendency to wash up on Island-Clan’s territory and camp exactly three times each moon.
Always washing up with different amounts and shades of the rainbow.
There were even rumors about a super rare rainbow-colored sea-glass shard floating about in the seabed.
Sure - it probably wasn’t real but there was still a chance it was.
BlizzardToes grabbed a yellow-colored sea-glass shard, the dark blue parts of color fur temporarily turning yellow.
“Guess that’ll do” LoonFang mused.
Plucking the shard from BlizzardToes paw.
Slipping it in with a wet *plop*.
The glass shard immediately made the lemon juice sizzle; like sea water being poured over a hot rock that was under the blazing sun all day.
A sparkling yellow mist emitting from the two-leg object like smoke from a volcano.
A pleasant scent of sea water and citrus mixed together.
“Should I shake it?” BlizzardToes asked, grabbing the glass once LoonFang gave color the go-ahead.
Plugging the object with the strange contraption attached to it.
Once it was closed the warrior started shaking it rapidly with all color strength.
The ingredients turn into a yellow color, then teal, then green, before it finally settled on a light bright golden color after a minute straight of shaking.
BlizzardToes front legs humming from the rapid movement.
LoonFang took the two-leg object from BlizzardToes; holding it close to his face and observing it with a critical eye.
Noting the tiny sizzles and bubbles floating inside to the top.
The liquid inside having a soft glowing light.
“Looks good” LoonFang observed, BlizzardToes smiling widely.
“Now, let’s set this aside and-“.
*POP*
The plug popped open.
A foamy substance sprouting out like a powerful geyser.
Bursting through the reed-covered roof of the den with a ripping sound.
The sheer force of it caused it to jump out of LoonFang’s paws; landing on the ground with a *thud*.
The cats outside yowled in confusion.
The golden liquid pouring down like rain, the geyser almost reaching the tops of the palm trees.
An explosion of citrus filling the air.
It finished quickly as it started.
The two-leg object lying empty on the driftwood floor.
The two cats peaked outside.
Everyone who was outside were completely soaked head to tail.
