Monospaced fonts don't necessarily take up the full nor same width of the space allotted, so we would expect to see variation regardless of whether it's monospace or not. (M, o, and n all take up different amounts of their allotted space in the above example.) EVEN SO: 'i' would also be _ in monospace: 𝚒 has a horizontal base.

Transmasc Azula and her Father's Rewards

I think one of the most interesting things about my transmasc azula au/hc is the way it changes her relationship with her father and mother.

As a princess, Azula has a lot of expectations put upon her. She's either going to be a bargaining chip like Yue - or a weapon. In my AU, one of the reasons why Azula becomes as obsessed with being a perfect weapon as he does, is because its his only way to gain exemption from traditional patriarchal expectations.

Ursa trying to take Azula away from his duelling/excessive training, ends up becoming a villain in Azula's eyes. Because Ursa means well when she says that 'girls shouldn't spend so much time training', Ursa means well when she suggests taking Ursa out for shopping or getting manicures together. Ursa means well when she praises Azula for his 'beauty' instead of his achievements

But Azula hates it all. He doesn't know why yet, he just knows that Ursa makes him feel somehow worse. He knows that when he trains hard, Ozai lets him wear his hair in a traditional men's topknot for 'practical purposes'. He knows that when he's training, Ursa can't drag him into 'girl's days'. He knows that as long as he performs, Ozai will allow him to swap his dresses for armour.

It gets so much juicier if Ozai sort of suspects. He hates it of course, viewing it as a sign of his daughter's inane fantasies, but also sees it as something he can use to his advantage (much like he does with Azula's psychosis and desire for love). Ursa doesn't know, but that doesn't matter when all she does is make Azula's experience in an extremely traditional and queerphobic household that much worse.

One tragic aspect of the Odyssey that I've never really seen handled by any adaptation is the link between Odysseus' marriage and the Trojan War itself.

When Helen was of age to be married, all the Lords of Greece came to seek her hand. This was an issue for her stepfather the King of Sparta who could only pick one husband and then would have to deal with the far greater number of angry rejected suitors.

One suitor was Odysseus, then a younger man. He quickly ascertained that he had no chance of marrying Helen. Ithaca was too poor for him to even bring any proper gifts, let alone a dowry. But he did catch the eye of the King's niece, one Penelope.

Now Penelope was still a bit out of Odysseus' league, but not so much as Helen was. So he makes a deal with the King of Sparta. Support my bid to marry Penelope, and I'll give you a solution to this suitors problem. The King agrees, so Odysseus suggests all the suitors swear an oath to defend Helen's marriage from anyone who might strike against it. They all, including Odysseus, so swear, and Helen is married to Menelaus. The King proves as good as his word, and Penelope is wed to Odysseus.

Of course this means that Odysseus has now bound himself to fight for Helen and Menelaus. After an attempt to feign madness he is forced to fulfill his duty.

So his own plan, to marry Penelope and stop a hoard of ravenous suitors, ends with him forced to defend his own marriage from a hoard of ravenous suitors.

i've lived in four different cities in my adult life and talked to literally tens of thousands of people about politics and the change they want to see in the world and the overwhelming majority of them wanted life to be better, happier, easier for everyone, and dreamed of that world. the only people who didn't think that way were A) really obviously in need of mental/medical care, or B) rich.

wanting universal free healthcare, well-funded public education, and social support for all people is the most unbelievably normie opinion that exists, even among people who have lots of bad or misguided opinions about other things. when you feel alone, know that the reason you feel that way is billions of dollars are being spent to obscure the fact that you are in the majority.
