Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: Ramona Flowers [ENTP]

Ne: Ramona finds it hard to live in the moment; her vast array of “ex-lovers” indicates her tendency to flit from relationship to relationship, place to place, and interest to interest. She changes her hair color at least once a week, to keep life interesting. She changes her mind constantly, and often isn’t aware of her environment until an ex pops up to beat the hell out of her “current” boyfriend.

Ti: She rarely tells people what she thinks about them, but is quite blunt in expressing her opinions (“Will you go out with me?” “No.”). Ramona has a rather apathetic view of the world and life in general; she fails to take interest in things that amuse other people, since she’s always searching for something mentally stimulating. But once she does need to explain herself, she can do so without much emotion or trouble in her choice of words.

Fe: To some extent, she avoids conflict and only steps into it to protect the people she loves. Ramona is fairly nice to everyone, although she doesn’t go out of her way to do so. She doesn’t criticize the band, even if she thinks it “sucks,” and is quite forgiving of Scott’s flaws.

Si: Her natural instinct isn’t to remember the past, but she can when recounting her previous love affairs, what went wrong with them, and what caused the break-up.

Easy A: Olive [ENTP]

Ne: Olive is exceptionally good at reading people – when she wants to. She figures out what they want from her, and often capitulates to it rather than dealing with their disbelief. She is a girl of ideas, who fills her room with all kinds of different things; indications of past and current hobbies. Olive tries out things just for fun (like playing the guitar) but isn’t all that active – she’d rather spend a weekend at home doing whatever catches her fancy than actually going somewhere and doing something. She draws parallels between what she’s reading in class and what’s happening in her life.

Ti: She is smart and curious about learning, so she actually reads the books she’s assigned rather than just watching the recent films. Olive is great a snappy, immediate comebacks and seeing the hypocrisy in others. Her mother remarks on how “smart” she is. She doesn’t like to hurt people’s feelings, so she seeks creative ways to get out of helping them or going camping with them. Olive seems largely unexpected by the nasty rumors flying around about her, until…

Fe: … the emotions of the people around her rub off on her, and she starts believing them about herself. Olive is up front blunt but then softens when she feels other people’s pain and internal anguish. She helps them out not to earn money (although she does demand something in exchange) but kindness. Olive genuinely cares about how others see her, and also has a weakness for comforting them – even if she can’t stand their guts (her brief friendship with Marianne) – and taking a fall for them. Her greatest regret is hurting her favorite teacher’s marriage.

Si: Once in awhile, Olive thinks about the past – her first “faked kiss” with Todd, her childhood friendships, etc. She enjoys classic novels and things from the past (like the original movie of The Scarlet Letter), and these things come to mind when dealing with problems in her life.

ENTP problem

Do any other ENTP’s have to be careful about what they feed their brain? Like when I’m trying to finish a writing project I have to keep rewatching the things that inspired me or things that are similar to the genre or tone or characters I’m working on otherwise I’ll get some bright shiny new idea and abandon the project I was working on because I’ve got new inspiration. Or, somehow worse, I’ll end up incorporating the new inspiration into the sam work even if it has no business being there. Resulting in new characters, new subplots, and tonal whiplash. Does that happen to anybody else?
