It appears that all parties with the exception of Restore are not going to entertain Farage’s media circus.
Count Binface - it is your time. People of Clacton, please do the funniest fucking thing that’s happened in UK politics for a while.
Shitposting at its finest.
annoying my patient mama a million times hi mama hi mama hi mama hi mama i love you mama hi mama
people will really come into kink spaces and say you can't forcefem women like there wasn't a feature length movie about an elderly gay man forcefemming a woman as part of scheme to thwart an elaborate assassination attempt before the killer even determined their target
What... What movie is this.
ain't no way in hell this post even breaks 500
i was trying so hard to remember the nonexistent assassination subplot in My Fair Lady
Hello since everyone else was recommending Black artists I thought I thought i would too :)
I LOVE Jhariah's music. He makes a mixture of punk + jazz music and like it's just soooo underrated. He's totally worth listening too 🥹
Y'all are gonna Jhariah me out 🤣 I say this every week- he has been recommended! I'm really glad y'all love him but Please search the page!
Aren't they... using carpetbagger wrong...??? Almost certain it means a rich northerner moving to the south to exploit poor southerners but I could be wrong.
Rich, no because the bags were made out of carpet. They were considered to be taking advantage of crashed economic status in the South postbellum in order to uplift their own lives. That said, that person was clearly using it in the "you came here to ruin our Southern Prosperity the way you stole all our slaves and want them to be human!!" Way. The idea is that you're stealing opportunities from "those who deserve them". How they see DEI, and all.
Either way, they're very much a racist for pulling that one out of the (carpet) bag lmao. I don't even know how they would apply it to what I do here. I run a blog about antiblackness on Tumblr. I just spent the past week fighting for my life against angry Internet users, and I spend a good chunk of my time here doing so. There is no financial or social benefit to this, there is no people to "take advantage of" 😅
to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube
they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!
i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies
Saw these easy to read instructions on Twitter. Stay safe 💚
Also just a handy, DIY air filter in general, if a bit bulky. For a less bulky and cheaper (but also less effective) solution, you can simply tape one filter to the fan, cut a shroud if you'd like.
just FYI, this is quite literally what the climate scientists at my work who specialized in wildfire smoke impacts recommend. it works great, it's cheap to make, and it will make a noticeable impact on your air quality.
i have asthma & keep one of these running in my room perpetually. after I set it up the difference in my sleep quality was pretty much night and day. Dont waste your time on proprietary air filters; SIMPLY bust out the duct tape
Video summary: Tiktok by @pippabarnes - clips of a person with alopecia applying colourful makeup and other decorations to a bald spot as part of very dramatic looks, narrating now her relationship to her bald spots has developed over time

deriding things as performative is anti third space
im sitting on a patio at my favorite cafe rn and im hand stitching them hem of a dress im working on. and i can see why someone would say im being performative by working on something like this in a public space. but frankly theres no element of that. i just want to work somewhere that isnt my apartment. i want to be in public, i wanna chat with strangers, i wanna see the world. it’s nice to hang out somewhere that isnt my home!
what i mean is when you say people are being performative you discourage them from doing shit they love in public. and thats no way to foster the world we want to see.
On this day, 16 July 1947, Black revolutionary Assata Shakur was born in Queens, New York City. After graduating from college she briefly joined the Black Panther Party, followed by the urban guerrilla group the Black Liberation Army which was engaging in armed struggle against the government, robbing banks and killing drug dealers and police officers. In 1973 Shakur was wounded in a shootout with police, arrested and later jailed for the alleged killing of a police officer. She escaped from prison in 1979 with the help of three BLA members and was granted asylum in Cuba, where she lives to this day. US government officials continue to press for her extradition, and early in 2021 the Republican administration labelled Cuba a state sponsor of terrorism, citing their harbouring of Shakur. Assata Shakur was also the step-aunt and godmother to murdered hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur. She has long been an advocate of direct action as a tool for social change, arguing: "Nobody in the world, nobody in history, has ever gotten their freedom by appealing to the moral sense of the people who were oppressing them." We have made available numerous books by other former members of the Panthers and the BLA here: https://shop.workingclasshistory.com/collections/books/black-panthers
its ok theyre Gods lil helpers
And boy are they clumsy
Hi, these bees are babies! They’re not clumsy at all, this is what is called orientation flights. After birth and before beginning their careers as foragers (as all Honey bees cycle through all the jobs in the Hive throughout their lifespan), Honey bees take short flights back and forth, to and from the Hive, to orient themselves with their wings and their home so they can learn its location and how to get back home after foraging! Everyone has to learn, these are just smol little baby turkeys. Bees use the angle of the sun for location so adults have a better and more direct sense of location than any human
IM SO PLEASED TO LEARN THIS!!!
They are just!!! Student drivers!!! 😭
BONK!

Glossary of Terms
I don’t know if I should be amused or distressed by the realization that someday this post will probably be useful to linguists.
Hi, linguist here. It is
Imagine being so braindead that you think the UK being one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world is a good thing 🤡
wtf are you talking about, they didn't "deplete" the nature of their country, they cultivated their wilderness over centuries into some of the most idyllic pastoral landscapes in the entire world. And they did such a good job of it that the phrase "English countryside" is now synonymous with beauty and serenity and peacefulness. They didn't destroy their country's nature, they became its caretaker, they're right to be proud of it. All you're doing is pretending that the only kind of nature that should count is whatever is completely untouched by human hands.
The UK is literally ranked in the bottom 10% of most nature-depleted countries in the world. The 2023 State of Nature report shows just how dire the situation is. A third of UK bird species have declined since the 1990s, 97% of the UK's wildflower meadows have been lost since the 1930s, raw sewage is constantly being pumped into our rivers and seas with agricultural slurry also causing massive damage to rivers, three quarters of Britain's hedgehogs have been lost in the past 20 years and UK butterfly numbers are at their lowest ever, a sign of impending ecosystem collapse. Plus people in Britain are the most disconnected from nature in Europe.
Not to mention over populated deer destroying what little is left due to a lack of predators, 60 million non-native birds released for sport shooting every year, plus huge amounts of wildlife crime, including large numbers of birds of prey being shot/poisoned.
There is nothing beautiful about a sterile, ecologically damaged landscape that contains nothing but sheep and deer. Don't comment on something you clearly know nothing about. I live in England. I can see first hand just how dire the situation is.
REBLOG TO ADD WE ARE NOW IN THE

positive ethics can be very powerful. instead of negative ethics, thinking of it as just a list of things to avoid, it's the process of finding guidelines towards living well in a proactive way too. like, instead of just getting more and more specific and technical about "dont torture people", we ask questions like, "in what better, cooler ways is it possible for us to live" type shit.
ethics encompasses techniques for living well -- writ broadly, not just... doing ""good"". or like, many people have a very narrow interpretation of what "good" means. people reject the concept of good because its been so misused instead of recognizing that the shit they think is awesome and dope is good for them and fully standing behind that. good is good 🤷♀️
