WRITING INTO THE DAY What is the message of this campaign? Purpose, audience, mode, medium, rhetorical appeals, style, design. Is it effective?
WRITING INTO THE DAY Look over this buzz feed article and pick a piece of art which you like. Tell me what about it appeals to you. Now perform a rhetorical analysis on the piece of artwork (purpose, audience, rhetorical appeals, style, design, etc.) What can you learn from this piece that might assist you in Project #3, or assist someone in workshop next week.
WRITING INTO THE DAY Is the book always better? Name a book that was not better than the movie and explain why. OR Choose a text (book, poem, song, video game) and explain what choices would need to be made to remediate it into a movie.
WRITING INTO THE DAY Choose your favorite story (book, movie, tv, etc. Fiction or nonfiction) Who are the characters? What is the setting? What happens in the story? (Plot) What's the central conflict? Now, perform a rhetorical analysis on the story. What's the rhetorical situation: Purpose, Audience, Rhetorical Appeals, mode, media, genre conventions, style, design, sources (inspiration).
WRITING INTO THE DAY What is the rhetorical situation? (Audience, purpose, rhetorical appeals, media, mode, use of genre conventions, style, design) How does the media craft the message? If you were to remediate it, what would you change?
Writing Into the Day - Project #2 Reflection Take a moment & around 200 words to reflect on your project. What is something you like about it? How many drafts did it require, really? If you had another week, what would you change? (Don't say how you'd procrastinate it further.) How has your approach to research changed?
WRITING INTO THE DAY: Writing with voice Imagine a person you are close to (a parent, roommate, teammate, best friend, someone you care about - DON'T PICK SOMEONE YOU HATE). Think about the words they use. What are their common phrases? Write a paragraph using their voice. (Describe their morning routine, tell a story from their point of view, let them describe their family pet...) Be sure to use their specific personal details & let me SEE and HEAR who they are. Post to Tumblr when complete.
WRITING INTO THE DAY: Show. Donât tell. Compose a paragraph explaining your Spring Break plans. Paint me a picture of what this week away from FSU will look like: show me, donât tell me. Avoid words and synonyms like FUN, & if you do not have an exciting Spring Break planned, avoid words and synonyms like BORING. Try to put me in the scene of your world. Describe the setting or layout an itinerary: anything that allows me to feel like I am in that same place. Post on tumblr when done.
This spring break I will cruise down highway 97, In my candy apply red jeep. Doors off and top down, I will feel the wind blow through my hair and the sun beat down on the top of my head. I will turn the music up on our favorite radio station with all of todays hits. We will most likely sit in bumper to bumper traffic in this tourist beach town that I call home, so we will have to just jam out to past the time. When we finally unload to the jeep, everyone can tell we are pros. We keep it simple with just a beach bag and a huge blanket. We walk through the warm, white powdered sand, a beach like no other. When we find our prime spot we run to the water, splashing and jumping as the waves roll in. The water is cool and refreshing. As make our way back to our spot to sunbathe we spot the usual tan lifeguard with long hair and  his red shorts, looking from his white balcony behind his Ray Ban sunglasses. We will giggle about him all day as we ring in spring break!

Itâs about 7:30 AM and the sun just peaks over the horizon.  The cold spring breeze combines with the newly produced rays to bake a nice flow of warm air. As the wind whistles past me at the dock I see palm trees off in the distance bending over dancing to the music. I walk across the Floating dock covered in a thin layer of dew to reach my ship  A quick turn of the ignition starts the engine of the boat and a cloud of black petroleum smoke shoots out the back as the boat is thrust forward away from land and into the channel to start its deep water journey. A good hour of bumping and constant motion we reach our destination on the reef. Looking over the side at the turquoise Florida Keys water the colorful never ending reef just engulfs the landscape. After Squeezing into this cold black suit and strapping a large air pressured metal tank to my back I stand on the deck of the boat just staring at the sea floor. The mask comes down on to my face and I take my leap into the unknown.

It is march 4th, 2016, and I have just got home from work. I have already packed all the belongings of which I intend to return home with. These items include anything from sweat shirts, bed sheets, and food that may go bad over the next week. Never the less, everything is wrinkled and stiff. It seems as though, while rummaging through piles of âstuffâ, I found that it had barely held out this long, and that spring break was itâs saving grace. I drive home, which is a lengthy, unavoidable process, but keeping my spirits high because I know the grass will be greener in five hours. Once I arrive home, I plop everything down, and gorge down whatever food is in sight. I drank greedily from soda cans, and ate so many snacks I entered an almost permanent state of euphoria. Of course I had greeted my family with a warm welcome, but this was what I had become afterward. A leech looking only to consume after being deprived for so long before hand. It is March 7th, and my family and I make it to the beach early in the morning, at approximately 10:00 am. Itâs finally a gorgeous day with plenty of sun, and at a perfect temperature. You can feel the energy from the sun penetrating your skin and assuaging your body. The water is cool and refreshing.

Itâll be around 1 a.m. Saturday morning when Harrison pulls up to my front door and yells at me to get in. In a tightly packed car weâll then hit the beautiful roads up towards Georgia for a week full of exploration and self growth. Weâre not going on some religious retreat or anything, but with our camping plans we also plan to work on our inner selves. Arriving at the site we will unload the car and attempt to set up our tents as some of us have to go on wikihow just to get theirs off the ground. We will then spend four days hiking, swimming, telling stories around the campfire, and any other cliche camping activity we can think of. Throughout the trip we will be allowed a peaceful break and time to reflect on ourselves, our lives, and friendship. I know it is only Georgia, but I cannot wait for the fresh air, cold nights, star filled sky, and the company of my best friends.

The empty beaches of Longboat Key and the crowded lines of Disney World is where Iâll be over spring break (after I catch up on sleep of course). Longboat Key is outside of Tampa and my family often vacations in cabins on the beach. The water is so warm compared to my hometownâs and the islandâs small town feeling provides a great background to all of us escaping from our stresses of the real world. I look forward to late night pizza runs with my dad on the two lane road, and eating the pizza while watching SportsCenter with my brother as the sound of waves and crickets gently murmur in the background. This is my favorite time to walk the beach: when itâs dark and quiet and empty. Walking the beach during the night with the full moon lighting our way.Â

A six hour drive to Suwannee, GA is the beginning of my Spring Break. I Love this part, watching the trees pass by the windows and grow more dense the farther into Georgia we get. Iâll be in the back seat with my mom and dad in the front. Weâre meeting my oldest sister and her new boyfriend there and staying with my grandma and aunt. Grams will probably cry when she sees us because we havenât been able to visit since Christmas of 2014. It will be different than last time because her dog, Ellie, wonât be there barking up a storm and chasing our little cousin around the house. That might be a good thing though because my sisters new Montana boyfriend is afraid of dogs. Most of the vacation will be indoors because there are no beaches near by and weâll probably be cooking more than half the time. My family is big on eating. Iâll also be going to my aunts salon, hopefully, to cut my hair. Though I wonât be with any of my friends, Iâll be enjoying the sweet and savory smells o many home cooked meals.Â
Writing into the Day:3/1
For spring break I will be flying to the Warm and beautiful Cancun, Mexico. I will spend my days feeling the warmth from the hot Mexican sun as I let my toes slowly get washed over with the salt water waves. Relaxing by the poolside, feeling my skin start to darken, smelling of sunscreen and chlorine. Waking up early to spend as much time out on the clean clear Gulf of Mexico.  Spending long days on the beaches soaking up the sun and nights with the live night life that Cancun has to offer. Â

After driving from the West Coast to the East Coast Saturday morning, I will get ready doing my hair and makeup, set up platters of desserts and âCongratulations!â banners with little ring decorations around the room and when the wife-to-be walks through the room we will all scream surprise. I will talk to family members about how school is and what I plan on doing int he future. After a day break of all of the people over, I will be dragging my sister through the doors of the oral surgeon and pick her up with my camera prepared to view the funny things her loop mind and puffy cheeks have to say and she will do the same thing to me the next day. The rest of the week will consist of binge watching Fuller House and my momâs chicken noodle soup!
