@beat-that-maze
other than all the other things I hate about hot weather (almost everything) I also hate the absolute havoc it wreaks on my appetite. am I hungry? am I not hungry? am I nauseated because I am hungry or because I'm dehydrated? eat three bites of something and I'm not hungry anymore, stop, a half an hour later I'm hungry again. [takes my body by the shoulders and gives it a shake] what do you want from me
i don’t know how to explain to you people that no matter what a country’s government is like i do not and will not support the US indiscriminately bombing that country’s civilians and i don’t know why that’s a controversial take tbh
“oh iran is a dictatorship!” “oh palestine is homophobic!” i don’t care like literally i don’t care that’s not a problem to be solved by other countries blowing innocent people up
i dont WANT pride months to be over,
on the other hand...
Sometimes I have Feelings about the fact the view seems to be that of course queer women want to read and write M/M stuff, but there is no assumption that queer men (or anyone) wants to read or write F/F stuff.
Everyone always seems to accept as an inevitability that F/F will be small. That it will have a small audience. That it will have a small reach. That not many people will write it, and not many people will read it when they do.
Why?
Why do we talk so much about the importance of representation and then are content to keep F/F stuff as a niche little area that those few people fuss about over there but that the general community doesn't need to worry about?
I have never been and probably (am past the halfway point of my life, in all probability) never will be into M/M. Like, good for y'all if you are, but I am 99% interested in F/F with occasional fond looks at some nostalgic M/F ships. Both in writing and in reading; filtering out M/M is pretty much the first thing I do on any AO3 search.
"But it's queer!" So? I love sweet food too but not all of it; miss me with liquorice and keep it for yourself.
"But everyone likes it!" I just told you I don't. Your premise is wrong, not my taste.
"But I like it!" Good for you! You can love M/M and write nothing but and read nothing but and I'm happy for you; still doesn't mean *I* have to?? My disinterest in M/M is not a negative judgment on what you like, it is simply disinterest.
"But men being vulnerable is so compelling!" Again, good for you! I'm sure that people who like liquorice also have a thousand arguments why they like it; still doesn't mean *I* have to?? We all have different stuff that compels us.
"But female characters are so boring!" Well you see, most male characters bore *me* to tears but you won't hear me say that as an argument to sway *you* to femslash. (I'm not gonna say "skill issue" even though snarky!me wants to. You like the shows you like, and if the women in those shows you like are boring, that's a writer's skill issue, not yours. And just because *I* like shows in which women aren't, I'm not gonna push *you* that you have to like those shows. See how nice that is?)
"everyone should care about accessibility because most people will become disabled at some point in their life" is a logical argument and I understand its popularity
however, everyone should care about accessibility because disabled people are fellow human beings living in the same society as you who deserve the same rights as you
thank you good night
Happy disability pride month
Modern AU Moiraine and Siuan inspired by the extremely kind and wonderful DominoTheCalico @beat-that-maze and her fantastic story Sometime A Fire. I don’t know if any of you are following along with it, but it is one of if not my favorite story I’m following rn.
I was absolutely petrified to post this because there are so many extremely talented artists in the Siuaraine fandom and I am very intimidated.
Ahhh I feel so happy and honoured 🥺💜😭

I thought, Why do I need to push myself so hard that I end up in hospital? I took three months off to think about why I do the things I do and why I needed to push so hard. That changed me as a human being. That’s where you come alive, right? Right at the edge? That’s where I want to be in life as an actor and person. That’s part of my essence. In a way, though, you have to feel that edge and know when it’s time to get close to that and maybe when it’s time to take a step back. Giving it your all is not always the most interesting thing as well. I realised that just enough could be way more interesting. Usually, you think about what you can give the character, but at the end of this season, I thought, What did Rand give me?

THE BOX PICTURE IM SCREAMING
This movement is making real progress.
It's a long road. We will fight the whole way.
I love Josh’s anti-classism so much. I grew up in a single parent household that didn’t have time/the ability to cook. I taught myself as an adult and ended up loving it. I cook with this stuff a lot. Shit, the RealLemon juice ends up in a lot of my cocktails. Sure, I like fancy ingredients when I can afford them and I have things I get picky about using - but I have bad hands, mincing garlic is painful as fuck. There’s a lot to be said for knowing how to work with what you have. Don’t shame people for trying, don’t shame people for feeding their families things that they enjoy.
if you are only a good cook if you have access to premium ingredients at whole foods or above prices then you arent really a good cook
