A what…
hey friends! i hate to make this post, but tax season is gonna kick my ass and our savings for moving out has been trashed. we are living in a 380 sqft mother-in-law suite that was supposed to always be temporary, but after being here for about 5 years, we need space (and privacy) from our landlord (she literally is sleeping in the room right next to us so we can hear her, so that means she can hear us). i also am advancing in my career in ECE so i would like to be closer to my work.
please considering don@ting if you can! share this if you can't, and we appreciate anything to help us out! it might even help my fiance have space to do a remote job once he's able to get something.
if gfm isn't your cup of tea, consider these as well:

Hello Everyone! I'm Micah Narys, a neuroqueer working individual who has been t… Micah Narys needs your support for Support Micah's Move
no donations yet, so 0/250 of our current goal. we're really working hard to not feel deterred from our goal to move out, especially when i'm trying to be closer to my work and at a place that's bigger and offers more.
we fixed (most) of the problems for my fiance's computer, so that's a plus!
i put in my letter so i can get some more training, and it would really help us if we could get out of here so i can do that in peace without having my fiance squished next to me.
please spread this around!!
we're now at 50/250!! thank you so much, let's keep up the momentum!!!
got another donation!! we're at 70/250!! thank you so much!!!!
we've reached the first goal!!!
thank you so very, very much!!
we're at now 270/500!!!!!
we found a space that's a house for rent ($1,250) that i have set my sights on. i'm making plans to try and tour it this week but i have nowhere near the amount for us to have a security deposit (to compare, we already pay $1.4k for our current place and my last paycheck went all into rent).
we don't have much of time until we'd have to resign the lease for our current place, but i don't know what else to do. our landlady seems to not want to do monthly leases.
please spread this around if you can! any help thus far has been super appreciated, thank you so very much for doing what you have been!
i am viewing the house on friday!!! the site providing the residence has an application fee of $50 per person (so $100 for my fiance and i), but i will try and see if i can delay that until my next payday (the 15th). please spread this around in the meantime!!!
major updates: for one, the viewing did not happen and the house was taken off the market (it looked too good to be true anyway, but still stinks) so i applied for two other places nearby.
also we've met our next goal!!!! some kind person donated a major amount, so now the gfm stands at 1,717/3,000!!! our security deposit is basically secured!! i've been so grateful that there are kind people out there and once we're up and running, we wanna continue that energy going forward to others!!
i'm hoping to get this apartment that is super close to work, but we shall see. in the meantime, thank you all for spreading this around!
major update: so we have an apartment set up for us to move into!!!
there might be some fees as we go along, but anymore donations will help us with those as well as getting some furniture (our landlady will not let us take the couch or a few of the shelves we have been using; we never needed more than a couple of chairs until now and we'll probably need a table and nightstand).
thank you for all the support. 🫶🫶🫶
snap has sent me a letter demanding i pay $124 for an overpayment on their end. idk why i have to pay for a mistake THEY made, but if i don't then we can't ever use snap to get food again and probably sent it to the debt collection. i would like to not have my pay affected by that, so any help would be appreciated.
all the move-in charges have been handled, but that leaves us with less than $300 for food, cleaning supplies, and furniture shopping. that's if there isn't any hidden charges left, so we're kinda skirting the edge of making it by. i did make the final goal to be $3000 because i had a feeling that $2000 wasn't gonna cut it (the renting and housing market is shit), but anything helps!!
massive donation alert!!! thank you to the person who got us to $2,719/$3,000!!!! this should really help and cover us for a while with food, as well as acquire the cleaning supplies and look into secondhand furniture! you have been a massive help in making our lives better, and i honestly hope that life gives you the best in return for your gesture.
and thank you to everyone who has been spreading this around. the actions you have done have kept us afloat in a very challenging situation, and now we can do better for ourselves.
i will eternally be grateful for all of this.
baby cats very cute

i have to do stuff to get results
About this: I saw the ghost bride hey arnold fanart timelapse and how were you able to know that the "blueish" colors felt right? (its right... – @impactrueno on Tumblr How do you feel about picking a color, say a deep orange in this example, and using that for a "Multiplied" layer for shading a character in, again for this example, a sunset?
i got a similar ask about this a while back and i've been working on something to better explain what i mean because i'm not too happy with that guide anymore so i'm just gonna address both here!
in my original post i talk about choosing analogous colors rather than using layer settings, but you guys are asking about multiply layers so let's talk about that since frankly they do save up a lot of time and headaches AND they can help understand color more easily so we can pick the palette from scratch next time.
right, so we have our guy.
in the sunset example, a deep orange multiply layer would look something like this:
however, in my previous guide i said that usually warm lighting means cool shadows. this isn't always the case, however, because the color of your shadows are determined by your environment and bounce lighting. shadows on their own have no color because they're just absence of light, so the color we perceive them to be is what's being projected onto the subject.
this same sunset with cool shadows would look a bit like this:
if that looks more natural even though it doesn't match the orange of the background, it's because sunsets only look orange around the area the sun is in the sky, so the color of the sky that's facing our character here would not be projecting an orange glow onto him.
while it's not a hard rule, like i said, usually warm lighting comes with cool shadows. i think it's also worth keeping in mind that reference photos can look very different from one another because of editing, exposure levels, filters, weather and time of day, etc. so also take your own outdoors observations into account. always observe colors when you go outside if ever (don't be like me)
here's another sunset example except the sunset is now behind our viewpoint and facing the character from the front. he's not fully lit up, perhaps he's standing under something where the sun light doesn't reach him directly. i used a red glow to indicate sun this time only because i think it looks cool with the teal sky:
now addressing the ask with the "pikachu in a green house" example: yes, i suppose using a multiply layer that matches the color of the environment works. after all, like i said up there, shadows will usually reflect the color of the surroundings the subject is in.
this was a lot of blabbing about colors and i didn't even touch on values which is also super important!!! but i'd like to do some studies before i talk about that to make sure i'm not talking out of my ass. hope this helps though!!
also this was originally going to be a patreon exclusive post but the more i think about it, the less i like the idea of putting educational material behind a paywall. i think this stuff should be more accessible for the people who can make use of it. so i will only put out there that if this helps you and you enjoy my content, i have my patreon and ko-fi if you can afford supporting me with a couple of bucks so i can continue making stuff like this 🫶
