God, but Ed’s face when Stede draws the curtains the night of Calypso’s birthday. There’s something so vulnerable about him in that moment, how he watches Stede, turns from the window to look at him, is sitting there waiting, in the spot where he folded in on himself and sobbed for what he thought he would never have. What he wasn’t allowed to have because he was broken inside. It’s such a genuine, tender, TRUSTING moment, like a repeat of the first kiss when Ed tentatively shows his heart to Stede. Ed is trusting him again, knowing that he can be vulnerable with this man and that Stede won’t hurt him.

And to think about this being the same man who layered himself in leather armor and gloves and a beard so no one could ever come close to seeing him like that.
