[id. A twitter post by @/Bennieeexyz Jury duty letter came addressed to my cat. Not a mistake. "Felix Martinez" - that's his full name according to his vet records. My last name. His first name. Somehow he's a registered voter now. Called the county clerk. Me: My cat got summoned for jury duty. Clerk: Is the name correct on the summons? Me: Yes, but he's a cat. Clerk: Is Felix Martinez a legal resident of this county? Me: He's a legal cat. Clerk: Sir, if the name matches our records, he needs to appear or file an exemption. Me: He can't file anything. He has paws. Clerk: You can file on his behalf. Me: Under what exemption? There's no box for "is a cat." Clerk: (pause) Check "unable to serve due to medical reasons." Me: What's the medical reason? Clerk: He's a cat. Me: That's not a medical condition. Clerk: It is if it prevents him from serving. Sent in the form. Got rejected two weeks later. "Insufficient documentation. Please provide medical professional's statement." Took the letter to my vet. Me: I need you to write that my cat can't do jury duty. Vet: Why is your cat summoned for jury duty? Me: Excellent question. No good answer. Vet: This is the weirdest request I've gotten. Me: Can you just write that he's medically unfit to serve? Vet: On what grounds? Me: He's a cat. Vet: (started typing) "Patient is unable to serve due to species-related limitations including inability to speak, read, or comprehend legal proceedings." Me: Perfect. Sent it in. Got another rejection. "Summons is mandatory. Failure to appear will result in contempt of court." My roommate thought this was hilarious. Roommate: Felix is going to jail. Me: This is serious. Roommate: Bring him to court. See what happens. Decided that was actually the only option left. Day of jury duty, put Felix in his carrier. Brought the entire paper trail of rejection letters. Checked in at the courthouse. Clerk: Name? Me: Felix Martinez. Clerk: (looked at the cat carrier) Is that Felix? Me: Yes. Clerk: (long stare) He's a cat. Me: I've been saying that for six weeks. Clerk: Why didn't you file an exemption? Me: I filed three. All rejected. Showed her the letters. She read through them, expression shifting from confusion to disbelief. Clerk: Someone rejected the veterinary documentation? Me: Twice. Clerk: (called her supervisor over) You need to see this. Supervisor read everything. Looked at Felix. Looked at me. Supervisor: How did a cat get registered to vote? Me: You tell me. Supervisor: This is a data error. Me: Took you six weeks to figure that out. They dismissed Felix immediately. Apologized for the inconvenience. Supervisor: We'll remove him from the voter registry. Me: Appreciate it. Supervisor: (pause) Out of curiosity, how would he have voted? Me: Probably whatever party supports universal treats. Got a formal apology letter a week later and a voter registration card. For me this time. Apparently I wasn't registered, but my cat was. Roommate: Felix committed voter fraud. Me: Felix committed nothing. He's innocent. Roommate: That's what they all say. Felix is sleeping on the jury summons now. Fitting end to his legal career. end id]

I find the evolution of my obsession with superheroes so interesting, because it quite literally all stems from young justice, Ben 10, and Danny phantom, I watched those shows chronically as a little kid as well as watched my older brother play the arkham games all the damn time and I was like

'Oh wow superheros are cool, anyway :)'

Then like, something in my brain snapped into place in 2016 because both Captain America civil war dc rebirth and the original sucide squad happened and my ten year self was suddenly like thoathing at the mouth and having debates on the playground

And it just kept devoling from there to now I'm in my twentys and still have an unhealthy fixation on anything superhero related

Didn't expect to make another rant so soon after my hadestown one bit this is another thing that's been annoying me

Why the hell is nickelodeon fumbling with tmnt? They did amazing with the 2012 version, which is what they made when they originally got the ip for it years ago

But now? They refuse to let a series go past two seasons and a movie, whether you liked rottmnt or not most can agree it still had alot more to cover story and character wise

And admittedly I wasn't originally into the mutant mayhem version because I was still upset about the cancellation of rise, but that series was POPULAR, it was selling, unlike rise it had both a fanbase of kids and adults and was selling really well, so no reason to cancel it right?

But they fucked that up with company's transferring things up and cancelling TWO WHOLE SEASONS THAT WERE IN PRODUCTION

And now, we are getting a series called 'teeny mutant turtles' which is a preschool show that will he 30 4-minute long episodes, tell me who wanted this? Certainly not the adults or teens, and I already know most preschoolers (said demographic it's made for) won't watch it, because name one preschooler you know right now that would enjoy a non conflict related turtle mutant show when they can just doom scroll on their sticky ipads or watch something stimulating and high energy

I need to address the elephant in the room, because I finally listened to the West end version of Hadestown after much pestering from people online about how good it was and I have a major complaint that no one told me about or seems to really talk about

This man CANNONT sing for the life of him, and I think even the rest of the team knew considering most of the songs that aren't in the album are songs where he would have to sing for a long period of time

Like where the hell did they find this man? Who let him play Hades? How do you get such an amazing cast for the show and get such a hot dog grease water singer to play a main role? Is he there just to make everyone else look better? If so good job I guess?

If marvel characters were real, imagine how hard it must be for Steve and Buckys pr teams

Like on the surface its like 'oh yeah, they helped take down Hitler it shouldn't be too hard to help them with a modern image'

Then they say something that was common place back then that's now SUPER problematic now and then their cancelled like immediately for it, and them trying to clarify keeps making it worse

Not to mention the amount of people who probably like immediately assume the worst because of the time period they are from, imagine all the 'captain America is homophobic because so and so' tweets that exist online and steve just has to stand there like '?!?!' Because he has done nothing remotely close to make people think that

And that's not even getting into all the stuff Bucky has put his pr team into by just existing, if this man was real the Internet would be screaming for him to be behind bars or on an electric chair I swear
