Seriously just a bit of pollen could make your cat sick within a matter of minutes. Stay far away from Easter lilies if you have kitties!

It’s nearing that time again. Remember, if you have a cat, don’t bring Easter lillies, or any in the same family, into your home!

Of all the plants people claim to be toxic to cats, this is THE plant to watch out for.

Poinsettias? potentially irritating sap, would need excessive doses to be toxic. Pothos? mildly irritating crystals in the leaves. Lilies? Organ failure.

Specifically, plants in the genus Lilium (Easter, Oriental, Tiger, Stargazer, etc etc) are the bad ones. Lily is a common name shared among a lot of different plants, some more or less toxic, but it’s the Liliums that are documented to be deadly to cats, specifically in causing kidney failure.

Amaryllis and Daffodils are other lily relatives that can be toxic, though not to the same level.

Daylilies (Hemerocalis) are unrelated plants but often listed as toxic (I’ve seen some debates from daylily people as to how true this is but better safe than sorry).

Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis) is not actually a lily but is very toxic to humans as well as animals, though for different reasons than Liliums, causing cardiac issues.

Peace Lilies (Spathiphyllum) are also unrelated and closer in the level of toxicity as a pothos, containing mildly irritating crystals but not deadly

Azalea/Rhododendrons are also a potential spring bloomer I would look out for, especially as I’ve seen a rise in popularity of the forced florist type azaleas this spring as an indoor pot plant. Ingestion can cause organ failure.

Vet tech here, this is all true. Do not bring lilies into your house this season if you have cats. Even if they’re ‘in a room where the cat doesn’t go’ or ‘the cat can’t reach it’. You want to know what owners tell me when they bring their cats in for lily ingestion treatment? The flowers were ‘in a room where the cat doesn’t go, but I went in there and then the phone rang so I left to get it, I only left the door open a minute’, and ‘they were up on top of the fridge where the cat can’t get, but it dropped some leaves.’ Just don’t risk it.

Hey anyone/everyone who sees this,

Sending warm fuzzy feelings, cranberry juice/ hot coco/ whatever you prefer and 70% dark chocolate bar cause I learned just how bitter it can taste. It was like a punch to the face, that I think I got whiplash. It's an experience and it really knocks you down to earth cause I almost landed back on my arse.

Just a reminder everyone can have their dips and doubts. Your artwork/ writing/posts are always appreciated, but so is your time. I'm a new follower for some and a long time silent viewer for others. Some of you've probably had repeated ask/ like/rebloggers. But sometimes the likes/reblogs dwindle, and it's 98% likely not on you, so please take a breather. (I think the other 2% are the troll creators who eventually/likely irk the audience to leave just to avoid toxic environments).

Think of your followers as your OG who more feel elated seeing you post ANYTHING. It means you're alive, it means you're still around, and it's a platonic love that I think people cherish even if they ever left this site. Even if I see a post I don't interact with/ reblog. I can always get a smile, maybe even a bit teary eyed if the person posting was silent on their blog for a long time.

I become relieved, grateful with the thought "This human/friend is still around. Thank the stars, I'd be crushed if I ever found out I lost them due to exterior/inner struggles they were facing.." Seeing someone I follow post when it's been weeks/months, it's like a warm hug or them giving a wave like saying "I'm here! I'm likely going through stuff because I have doubts about what I create/like, or life sure is keeping me busy! Or I'm kinda floating along and waiting for this numbness to settle... But I'm here! This little star is still shining, even if I feel dirty or dim, your night sky is just as bright still! I'm around, the light of my life is still burning bright, even if I forget how brightly I shine to others!"

..... Just, if you've read all this. Please know I'm grateful you're alive. You don't have to post, you don't have to say anything. Even I fall silent. Just know, I'm grateful you're alive and your light is still keeping my night sky adorned with your light. Trust me, there are others like me who treasure you and are grateful, that in your own unique ways, we get to see you shine.

I literally cannot find a straight answer for this because the Tumblr Live FAQ (left) says nothing about it but according to Live's specific TOS it is indeed location enabled if you needed another reason why tumblr live is sketch as hell and it is probably a good idea to turn that off manually if you can

Etsy is somehow being even worse, do not click etsy ads

Etsy is now forcing shop owners to be part of their ads. We can not opt out.

To anyone who buys from etsy: DO NOT EVER CLICK THEIR ADS

They are rolling out a program where if you get a sale from an ad they put out, they’re taking 12-15% of the profit(probably on top of the like, 5%ish+ they already take). Even worse, if you have clicked an Etsy ad in the last 30 days ANYONE YOU BUY FROM ON ETSY IN THAT PERIOD WILL BE BILLED THAT FEE. 

So please, if you see an ad for something you like off etsy, do not click it. Just go on etsy and search for it.

This is somehow worse than what storenvy used to pull. 

Please go directly through an artist or see if they have their own storefront (I use bigcartel) instead of purchasing off etsy. And if you must, just please, please, never click an etsy ad.

Hey I opened my etsy shop back up after years to destash some stuff and make a little extra money and so I ran smack into this myself.  DO NOT CLICK ETSY ADS to buy something.  It charges the seller a huge fee that that did not expect or agree to.  In my case it was pretty much large enough to eat all my profit.  The only way to fight against this is to increase all your prices a lot in case anyone buys your stuff after clicking on an ad, therefore driving all prices up. 

And it’s not 12-15% of the profit, it’s 12-15% of the PRICE.  There’s no way Etsy knows the cost of the actual item before profit.  So if you price your wares with 15% profit for yourself, congrats you’ve lost money on the transaction. 

Just a reminder for holiday season and in general.
