Okay some little things (and big things) that I appreciate about A League of Their Own in no particular order:
-the fact that a good portion of the cast are in their mid-thirties
-the fact that they have *so many* of the main characters be queer
-the fact that Dove left and then *didn't* come back to save the day at the end. Everything they did it was on their strength as a team and as players
-the characters are well-rounded and multifaceted. Clance could have very easily *not* been a huge nerd, but I'm so glad that she was
-Equal weight and time to Carson and Max's story, and the friendship that they developed
-the moment in the last game when they all helped Jo get home
Anyway, the real championship game was the girlfriends friends we made along the way
Me: romance is dead
Greta on second base calling to Carson at bat: Bring me home, Shaw!
Carson: *smiles*
Me: just kidding, I was wrong, love is real

How To Train Your Dragon: Snoggletog Log (2019)
This speech-language pathologist taught her dog 29 words, and he can even form full sentences.
Video by Christina Hunger
Dogs actually do have a language center in their brains. They process language just the same way we do, just not as well.
They do understand our words. This is not true of all domesticated animals (horses, for example, can only manage to distinguish a relatively small number of spoken commands…but boy do they know what you’re really saying).
They don’t understand “just your tone of voice” as a lot of people think.
As of 2016 the record vocabulary for a dog demonstrating understanding of words is over 1,000.
So if you give them a way to talk back, they’re going to use it.
The development of language skills is probably a side effect of domestication and of being kept in close contact with humans. A dog that was a better hunting partner would be kept and bred and over time they developed a better understanding of language.
In other words, dogs are pretty dang smart because we need them to understand us.
And also that is a very good boy.
^ Would like to agree and make one amendment - very good GIRL. This is Stella the dog!
Check out the owner Christina’s Instagram: one of the first things I saw was a video where the dog started barking and, when prompted by the owner, said “outside, look look look look look look look, come outside.” Which is basically exactly how one would expect a dog to speak.
The owner described bringing an unknown package into the house, and the dog ran away to push the buttons for “help no no help help” which is also about what I expect goes on in a scared pup’s mind.
In another video, the dog tried to push a button, and the button wasn’t working. The dog paused and then pushed the buttons for “No. Help.”
In yet another (which the owner seemed impressed by), Stella said “come eat come play.” The owner asked the dog which she wanted to do, to eat or to play? And the dog clarified “come eat.” After eating, then the dog tried to instigate play. So the dog may have been able to understand a short spoken question, and how “questions and answers” work, and also understands sequences, even if she can’t express them (”I want to eat, THEN I want to play”)
Stella can even recount short-term memories, like when her family returned from the beach for dinner and she said “water good, no eat, play”
By the way, the owner uses the buttons as well, which probably really helps reinforce their meaning. She uses them to say things like “Stella all done eat” or “Stella and Christina go outside, bye!”
Wanna know my favorite part? Stella sometimes pushes the buttons for “Stella good” when she’s done a good job. Stella IS good! :D She also makes phrases using “love you,” like “Christina, love you, come play!”
Despite all the bad things CGI has done for us this year, (Lion King, Sonic, Cats) we must remember the good
“I bet you could take that hakuna matata scene and put any other song over it. There is absolutely nothing about their movements, their expressions, the composition of the shots, the editing that conveys what kind of song they’re singing” - @sabertoothwalrus x
you know a lot of actors find a particular niche to inhabit when it comes to their roles but you really gotta hand it to David Tennant for somehow landing the absurdly specific category of “immortals that rebelled against their oppressive and bureaucratic people because they accidentally became too fond of the human race and also have a quasi-telepathic bond with a vehicle.”
after the almost armageddon I bet anathema walks into her kitchen to find the Them making toast and drinking orange juice while reading her conspiracy mags. but, unlike steve harrington who adopted like seven kids, the Them have adopted anathema
this dynamic is underrated tbh considering anathema was never allowed to be a normal kid, and the them are an archetypical whimsical kid crew. the possible interactions are endless like
- the Them bringing back herbs and plants they find while playing in the woods for anathema
- she brings them on ‘field trips’ to like the beach and cool museums
- they show up on halloween tricker treating as pop culture witches and warlocks but make sure to tell her she’s their favorite
& its a symbiotic relationship bc she can teach them about nature and be the quirky neighbor who spoils them, while they allow her experiences she missed out on as a child
so cersei was robbed of her epic death, daenerys was robbed of her character development, the hound was robbed of any arc, jamie was robbed of character development, euron was robbed of an epic death, yara was robbed of revenge, grey worm was robbed of his happiness, missandei was robbed of her happiness, jon was robbed of his personality, arya was robbed of her own arc, am i missing anyone? oh right we were also robbed, of an ending that isn’t absolute and utter trash, how could i forget
