I’m taking a break from AO3 for my mental health, which means I will not be updating any of my fics, but I will also probably not be responding to comments either. I don’t know when I’ll be back, it depends on several circumstances. Sorry for any disappointment!

As of right now, “What We Do for Ourselves and Others” is not abandoned or deleted, I just have it hidden bc it’s going through major edits, so don’t freak out!

Similarly, both “In Heart and In Mind”, as well as “Dawnbreak” are going to be majorly edited in order to fix up plot holes and smooth out characterizations. I have left those two visible since the editing hasn’t taken place yet.

“A Semblance of Normality” is currently being rewritten and the old version will no longer be continued.

So there’s this remote village in the northern valley of a mountain. It’s run by a violent priest who hates women. Devon is accused of being a witch (really, she just hasn’t given her husband a child and he wants to move on) and they march her up the mountain and tie her to a stone to be judged by god. But god doesn’t come for her. The Bear does. (He’s the village warrior who snapped and killed the other warriors and now stalks the mountainside in his bone mask.) (Or did he??) (He did.)

He takes her home to recover before she starts a new life somewhere else, but then they’re snowed in! It’s about Devon learning to listen to her own wants and finding her power. There’s a cat. And the worst horse in the world. I just feel like we could use a story about somebody escaping patriarchy and getting happily railed in the woods.

Writing tip: when you finish editing your fic, there's a button at the bottom that says "post," and once you click it you instantly see every single error and inconsistency you missed, to the point where you wonder if you ever even read through the fic at all

This has alerted me to a particular kind of human who edits in the fucking post box????? Folks one slip of your fingers in that window and you're going to be posting by accident anyway whether you're ready or not. That's terrifying.

Fun fact, the main reason pressing post makes it easier to see your errors is that the format of your fic has suddenly changed (it's like mirror imaging your art to see the errors better - sudden different perspective = 'oh shit errors'). Editing in a different font size + different font can actually make it way easier to see errors, and is something to consider if you're someone that spots most of your mistakes after you press post.

Yes the AO3 omega April fools joke was exceptionally funny but actually seeing AO3 on April 2nd without a beta status is sending me.

What do you mean it’s not in beta anymore? Isn’t that it’s thing? Just to exist in a perpetual state of almost ready. Do I too need to grow and change and become an actualized product? I am not ready.
