Thinking of Jason Todd/Superboy Prime and Madoka/Homura thematic parallels between their relationships and I’m.

Thinking about how Jason Todd’s resurrection and Madoka’s “returning” into a normal girl after achieving godhood are both products of Homura and Superboy Prime unable to accept the current predicaments of their reality and doing anything they can to change the outcome. Superboy Prime and Homura both mess with timelines and such to the point where nothing can fully return to the way it was before. Thinking of two characters who achieve a level of god like power (as a devil and as a Kryptonian) and use that power to pull their favorite person from heaven itself. Despite both of them wanting to reverse the pain and damage *everybody* has suffered, they’re obsessive and have a vested interest of a specific individual to the point of playing a major controlling role in their favorite person’s fate.

Something something about how Madoka and Jason Todd are marked by heroic acts at the “end” of their lives (Jason loses his life, Madoka becomes God), and even though those acts were heroic, they weren’t fully done willingly. Both blindsided and betrayed by someone or something else manipulating them for their own gain, yet despite that they still put their bodies and lives on the line to protect people. Both of them believing in the power of magic aiding good’s defeat over evil. Both of them achieving an aspect of divinity/serenity after everything they’ve experienced and done for others, only to be subsequently ripped away from it and forced to restart it all over again
