honestly there’s nothing that can compare to creating OCs and imagining scenarios with them with a person you trust. i don’t even mean in an shipping sense, either – just you and your friends making up people that also friends and imagining them in ridiculous, hilarious, adorable, angsty situations. like holy shit the knowledge that they are enjoying themselves with what you create and you’re enjoying yourself with what they create and you’re both just having the time of your fucking lives playing barbie with your own creations, safe in the knowledge that they aren’t fucking judging you or thinking ill of you for the silly little scenarios you’re imagining, no matter how cringe they might be. no cringe zone. just friendship.

Creating Sylvari Culture

Individual rooms and homes are rare.

They might be built to look as such but many Sylvari group together naturally for socialization, sleep, or to seek out solace from others

Unless someone’s staked a serious claim on a spot or has many possessions that are specialized or common use, there aren’t permanent room or house assignments

Even the gardens of many of the luminaries are filled with their friends, families, lovers, or students

Sylvari enjoy hammocks of natural leaves or fibers, but are also at home sleeping on the ground on very soft grass, moss, or leaves

This doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy beds or cushions, because they do.

Floor seating is fun and culturally natural for Sylvari. They always look to equalize a situation and if there aren’t enough chairs for everyone, well, everyone may opt to sit on the floor or grow some more chairs or get some from another room/house

Sylvari may sleep alone, or with others in both romantic and platonic bed-sharing.

Though not 100% true, they say Dawn and Noon blooms are the first to fall asleep (some Dawn’s as early as seven pm). It is rumored that Night blooms don’t have to sleep at all, however, this may not be true as many Night Blooms enjoy finding secluded places to sleep during the day or! With other Night Blooms

Sylvari 100% understand that different races have different social morays and will curiously inquire about bedding, seating, and housing requirements when friends of other races come to the Grove or when they are sleeping abroad.

Some adapt well and right away… and sometimes you’ll find Sylvari, especially those in certain Orders, all laid in a bed or tent together, glowing and snoozing the night away

(Unless they’re a Night bloom and then that means they’re on watch and will sleep quite comfortably, and possibly alone, in the day time)

i personally like to think that balthazar killed us with the sword, so the entire ‘fetch and reawaken the sword’ quest must’ve been a fucking nightmare for the commander

okay first of all same tbh why would he carry around a flaming surfboard-sized sword only to barely use it??

like,, ur telling me that when balth finally had the commander at his mercy, he was totally satisfied with just… throwing a lil fireball in their face? rly?

bc i don’t think that’s how balthazar, ruthless god of fire and WAR, would treat someone who’s been nothing but an annoying, plan-foiling, thorn in his side for at least several months now.

so yeah no he def turned them into a roasted commander kebab with that big ol hunk of metal and depending on the commander’s size, might’ve even sliced them in half.

fast-forward to when blish suggests they use balthazar’s sword as kralk bait and the commander’s heart skips a beat. no one notices them instinctively raise a hand to their chest, brushing over a wound that no longer exists.

that sword is their only shot and the commander knows this, but is still unprepared for the sheer unease that courses through their veins when they actually lay eyes on it again.

it’s just the poison gas making them nauseous, they tell themselves. (the commander knows it’s not, but they like to pretend anyway)

unease gives way to panic when they realize they have to physically carry the damn thing back to sun’s refuge, but they bury that panic deep, deep down like they do with everything else. just focus on the mission, and everything will be fine.

of course, the panic comes back tenfold when the sword is reignited.

balthazar is long gone, but the commander still remembers how it felt to be on the other end of the blade.

they still remember how it felt, to have their chest crushed and split open by unforgiving, unrelenting metal.

they still remember how it felt, trying to scream but failing because their lungs were filled with more blood than air at that point.

How to Get a group going in GW2

When you can’t find an LFG, or you’ve been waiting for your LFG to be filled, and you require some assistance with completing a task in GW2, here are some tips:

1. Sound confident instead of asking. Instead of saying, “Anyone want to do (blank)?” you can say “We’re going to do (blank) at (waypoint or Poi).” This implies that there are already people there ready to do the task. People are attracted to larger numbers.

2. Remind. Mention why this boss or event is important if applicable, like if it’s required for Griffon, Beetle, backpiece, etc. Some people are overwhelmed with how many things they have to do for a collection, so reminding them that this is required and a person/group is taking care of it right now, it means less burden later.

3. Exaggerate. “We’ve got some people on the way still.” Also implies that other people are interested and this might be a big or organized event.

4. Lie. “Get here ASAP, it’ll die/end quick.” Pretty straightforward. It either implies the target is easy, or there’s a lot of people there already. “5 minutes left.” “Boss at 60%”

5. Make it easy. If you only require one person, don’t say “Someone,” say “One person.” It communicates that there is an easy slot to fill, and people are happy to be that “one person” instead of just a “somebody.” “Can I get one person to assist me with (blank.)”

6. RECIPROCATE. Somebody probably needs help with an HP or bounty, help em out and they can help you. If you’ve already got a group going, take requests. People will stick around.
