Correct me if im wrong, but
When someone starts yapping about how âwitchcraft ia a traditionally female practice because burning tymes etcâ not only does that have no bearing on today whatsoever, its also a somewhat racist perspective because witchcraft occurs in many cultures/places besides england/america, and you should not discount those non-women-centric practices/histories because they dont fit into your narrow, anglicized understanding of witchcraft.
Itâs also just straight up not true. There is no culture where magic was the purview of just one sex - not even in the West. Most people who died in the witch trials were not even witches, and a substantial minority of them where men. That wasnât some kind of rarity.
But yes, also what you said.
Anyway no penises in traditional witchcraft. You men and non-females have your own words so fucking use them instead of stealing from women who already get stolen from regularly. Die mad about it.
You are aware that the formal charge against the MEN who were convicted in the WITCH trials was⌠âwitchcraft.â Right?
If applying the term to men is some sort of new fangled thing, then I guess no one told them back in the 16th century.
You are also aware that magic workers in good standing with society were never referred to as witches until, like, Gerald Gardner, yes? And that he was, in fact, a man?
And prior to that, magic workers in good standing were always called something else, like cunning MAN, or cunning woman? Or root doctor, in some African diaspora traditions, which is gender neutral and has always included both sexes?
You do know âwitchâ as a self-claimed identity didnât even exist until like 50 years ago â not even amongst female magic workers?
Yes?
Just wondering.
@magicianmew my dear youâre bringing the racist terf trash out of the woodwork, and i just cleaned up around here
and since there have always been and will continue to be people of all genders, with penis or not, that practice witchcraft regardless of terf whining, to borrow a phrase, die mad about that
