To elaborate why this is worse: Art and religion are all well and good. But information can be critical. When libraries burn, information can be lost forever. Because we photograph art. We have blueprints of the Cathedral. The Notre Dame cathedral did not burn to the ground, only the wooden structures did. The entire library and everything within is gone here. Another reason this is worse? It was DELIBERATE. It was bombed. Accidents like Notre Dame happen all the time. But bombings don’t have to happen. So yeah, if you cared about Notre Dame, logically you should care about this too,

maroon is literally an evolution of french marron, meaning chestnut. its a brownish red. like a chestnut.

This is like hilarious but also stop being pretentious, it’s a perfectly fair comparison to make. Navy blue = a darker and more desaturated blue and maroon = a darker and more desaturated red. The modifier “navy” is so disconnected enough from its roots that it makes sense for it to assume a new contextual meaning. Sure, the name comes from the British navy using it, but what we’re talking about is how it modifies a color.

there’s a certain type of sexism u only see if u have brothers…even if it’s not stated, it’s always expected for daughters to be a caregiver and do more housework than the boys in the home. and when sons DO step up and do half as much they’re automatically given praise for things we don’t even get a simple thank you for. they’re also given a thousand times more freedom…it’s truly incredible to witness lmao

This! My brother gets praised for “doing what we ask” but I get yelled at for “not taking the initiative and doing (insert chore) without being asked.

I saw this more in when my sisters had children and we and my mom all lived together. Instead of starting to teach the young boys how to do chores, clean up and do things for themselves, our mother would yell at my sister that she needs to do more for her sons and shouldn’t expect them to have that sort of initiative . When she was in the same position she made me and my sisters start learning how to do the dishes and scrub toilets before we were in double digits.
