PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (2005) dir. Joe Wright
Bit telling that for years and years evangelical religious extremists have been allowed on university campuses with their bullhorns and horrific imagery where they harass students into physical altercations and when students complain to the universityâs administration they just shrug their shoulders citing freedom of speech but when those same tuition-paying students start protesting against war and genocide they call SWAT
If you look at the world and say âYes, there are enough homes for people, yes, there is enough food for people, but if we give it away for free they wonât have earned it and the economy will collapse.â Then you have chosen money (a constructed medium of exchange) over living beings who only want to continue living in peace and safety.
And I have no qualms telling you, that is the wrong choice, and you have been brainwashed by this destructive, exploitative system.
ahhhh, Iâm happy this one came back.
the #1 argument I see against posts like this is always âbut I earned my house, my job, my comfortable life!! itâs not fair to me if someone else gets that after doing nothing to deserve it!!âÂ
my response is usually: why do you think humans have to earn the right to stay aliveÂ
HARRY STYLES Fine Line x Spotify event in LA - December 11th, 2019
Douglas Adams is the best when it comes to describe characters
they need to teach classes on Douglas Adams analogies okay
âHe leant tensely against the corridor wall and frowned like a man trying to unbend a corkscrew by telekinesis.â
âStones, then rocks, then boulders which pranced past him like clumsy puppies, only much, much bigger, much, much harder and heavier, and almost infinitely more likely to kill you if they fell on you.â
âHe gazed keenly into the distance and looked as if he would quite like the wind to blow his hair back dramatically at that point, but the wind was busy fooling around with some leaves a little way off.â
âIt looked only partly like a spaceship with guidance fins, rocket engines and escape hatches and so on, and a great deal like a small upended Italian bistro.â
âIf it was an emotion, it was a totally emotionless one. It was hatred, implacable hatred. It was cold, not like ice is cold, but like a wall is cold. It was impersonal, not as a randomly flung fist in a crowd is impersonal, but like a computer-issued parking summons is impersonal. And it was deadly - again, not like a bullet or a knife is deadly, but like a brick wall across a motorway is deadly.â
And, of course: âThe ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks donât.â
the one that will always stay with me is âArthur Dent was grappling with his consciousness the way one grapples with a lost bar of soap in the bath,â i feel like that was the first time i really understood what you could do with words.
I will reblog this every time I see it because these are some of my favorite sentences in the English language.
Bong Joon-ho on the specificity and universality of Parasite (2019)
The economic realities of Baby boomers versus MillennialsÂ
that comment has had me thinking for days⊠like im reblogging this shit a week later from my likes cus its the PERFECT analogyÂ

THIS RIGHT HERE
You guys are dangerously close to realizing specifically what kinds of people they keep from voting and why.
I want to drill this into everybodyâs head:
The United States of America has the highest prison population in the world
Black Americans and Latin people make up the majority of this population (many of whom are non-violent offenders)
Federal Prisons in America require that their state keeps their prisons at a maximum occupancy at all times.
The 13th amendment did not entirely abolish slaveryâŠjust one form of it. It remains legal through industrial prison system
Point 3 should terrify people the most. Crime can go down but incarcerations actually wonât. Theyâll just send people to prison over less so they can keep that number up, because prison labor is a multi billion dollar business. This isnât conspiracy theory stuff but how U.S. prisons publicly operate. They lobby local government to tighten laws and increase enforcement if they start losing money.
The USA are a hellscape
this whole fucking post reads like satire but its not
If thatâs not enough to show the USA is an active dystopian nightmare idk what is
today a regular customer came into my store and told me sheâd âfinished candy crushâ and tbh i didnt think that was possible. i thought it just generated levels forever, but apparently it has 4000 odd levels and it took her 4 years to complete. she even emailed them asking when there would be more levels and they told her she could play their other games or replay the existing levels jklsdkflsdf

The problem with movies that do the â30 second gay cameoâ thing isnât the actual scenes themselves, but rather the media coverage and PR that treats it like itâs some grand progressive gesture.
âThere is an unnamed gay character in Endgame.â Cool okay. âThis is a HUGE leap in LGBT rightsâ eeehhh nah.
âMarvel announces new gay character in Avengers Endgame that can be easily cut out of the movie for Chinese distributionâ
whoop THERE IT IS
made worse by the fact that there have been attempts by taika waititi and ryan coogler to include a level of lgbt inclusivity in characters that weâre actually invested in but marvel has axed all attempts
I just learned that thereâs a man who shops at trader joes in Seattle and buys things in bulk and then transports them up to Vancouver to his own store called âpirate joesâ because there are no trader joes in Canada. Heâs gotten banned at some trader joes because of this and sometimes has to put on disguises to shop and he even hires people to go shopping for him and itâs like a secret mission. He even has a van that says âgrocers without bordersâ and trader joes has sued him and lost. My favorite part of this is that this whole situation could be easily fixed by trader joes opening a store in Vancouver and hiring him
the best part is that after they got sued he removed the âpâ from the sign in his shop window so now it says âirate joeâsâ, because theyâre mad at him.
Some guy in Ancient Greece, pointing at a perfectly climbable mountain: There are gods up there!
The rest of Ancient Greece: Sick, no need to fact check thatÂ
i love that photoset of elsa and her mom because it clearly shows how the mom is literally just an elsa recolor
God forbid kids and their parents look alike, as if genetics were involved or something, ha
Disney straight up copy past Elsa and her Mom face it just the same face. is not genetic is poor and bad character design
Royal families tend to have smaller gene pools, so thereâs a lot less variety
There is a big difference in look alike because they are blood related and just straight up copy the same face and do different colors for the hair
Again. Is poor character design
âitâs not bad character design itâs inbreedingâ
