One moment, Hiccup was staring at the gods before him, and the next, he was swallowed by fire once again.

This time, it didn’t hurt. It was warm, comforting, like the hug of a friend, or a morning blanket.

The fire died in a moment, and Hiccup was standing where he’d died, or almost died. The village of Berk, and a tribe of invaders stood still and watched him as he took stock of himself.

He wore a helmet that should have obscured his vision, but he could see everything. At least, he could perceive everything.

He felt taller, stronger, more stable and grounded. His leg didn’t hurt, but he could feel it hadn’t been restored.

His new armor was black, made up of rounded scales. If he didn’t know any better, he’d guess they were Toothless’.

He had spines and ridges lining his gloves and the edges of his armor. They were tipped in gold.

He could hear a cape fluttering behind him.

This was originally a sketch during DnD, then I started inking it during church, but my pen died. So when I came home finished it with copic…then pulled out the gel pen…then the paint…

It’s been a while since I did anything fully on paper. It was fun! 🥰

The Biodome becomes a forest after enough time.

Despite being a difference not accurate to the book, I love the fact that they get Ryland plants in and by his home. The Eridians probably worked so hard to make the place feel like Earth for him.

I can imagine that as Grace ages, they manage to synthesize and grow more and more plants. Eventually, he has somewhat of a little garden of flowers, all in bloom after he taught his students about earth flora and pollination, and they worked diligently to claw-pollinate each one with uniquely delicate tools. He gets older, and he can't exactly go on walks easily anymore, so Rocky and Adrian make him an adaptive mobility aid that he uses to enjoy the now green meadow that makes up his yard.

Time passes. Countless statues and carvings of Savior Grace are all over Erid, but the largest is in the one and only forest on the planet. Elder Eridians take their pebbles in xenonite suits to see and pay tribute to the monument, where a rust-colored and teal pair of Eridians sit around him in their final resting spot. For generations, they'll have a connection to Grace and the life he gave them.

In case anyone hasn't heard, the cyclospora outbreak affecting tons of people in the US right now is coming from Taylor Farms produce. Best to stay away from bagged lettuce and prepared salads completely right now, but especially the ones mentioned in the screenshot:

This is not the first time I've heard about a Taylor Farms foodborne illness outbreak. I stopped eating their salads after reading a description of the conditions in their facilities. Doesn't sound like they've improved anything.

We need a fully funded and staffed FDA, and regulations with teeth - and that's exactly what we don't have under Trump. To make things worse, the CDC is no longer tracking these outbreaks. We're on our own.

You can force CapitalOne to stop sending you credit card offers by putting yourself on the opt-out list. It is ridiculous that we have to do this, but I highly recommend doing so. I haven't received a single offer since a week after opting out.

You can opt-out for 5 years or forever.

Here's a government website article about it that has other opt-out options for things like the do-not-call list and other kinds of mail listed at the bottom. But here's the direct link to the opt-out website for pre-approved credit card offers.

Fuck CapitalOne. It should be illegal to send mail that looks like official government documents to try and get you to sign up for their credit cards.

Hours and euros that could be spent on humans, being spent on species on whom humanity's own survival does not depend? Did you know that due to an accidental introduction of rats, the Lord Howe Island stick insect population was brought down to 24 individuals and now there are tens of thousands of them?

This bug. This bug that, to most humans, is utterly useless, relatively gross, and completely foreign. Humans saved it because humans do not want to cause another extinction ever again if they can avoid it.
