Greetings and Introductions

I am Brother Owain of Farnham Monastery. I am a man of fourty and two years. I manage the archives monastic, which doth consist of church records, collected manuscripts, and artifacts bequeathed to the order.

I have taken some of the monks to the beach for enrichment time, they all have matching hats and a long rope for them all to hold onto so they don’t get separated

I am now seated sunbathing, covered from head to toe as is appropriate for a lady of my standing, and every now and then they bring me an interesting rock

I have been on a pilgrimage of late and have only just returned, long sought after translation in hand. I was greeted at the Farnham gates by a gaggle of illuminators inquiring after "souvenirs" and "treats".

They appeared disappointed when I had naught to offer but berries from the roadside.

There hath been a new development at the monastery! Gode Weather is upon us. The sun is out, the garden is blooming, and Brother Eustace’s tonsure has developed a disturbing sun-burn.

Brothers! Sisters! Laypeople and Onlooking Spirits!

I have determined that the language of the strange tome I acquired is, in fact, an Old Frisian dialect which bears some resemblance to the old language of the Anglo-Saxons. It will take work to translate, and I may need to travel in order to locate an individual more knowledgeable of the language.

Do any of the brothers and sisters know who placed this book upon my desk? It is marked in a script unknown to me, but its illuminations are passing strange.

I may embark on an endeavor to translate it.

Basically the idea is that Benedictine Monks and Gregorian chants were to the medieval era what the Beach Boys were to the 60s. And also that I think there should be a movie about monk drama set in the 14th century but the score is just the Beach Boys

This past Wednesday I received the ash as per tradition but as I walked past a group of novices they broke out in fits of giggles and I couldn’t help but ponder what my cross looked like. I do not possess a looking glass for that would be indulging in the sin of vanity so may I ask my fellow brothers and sisters what has been inscribed in my forehead
