by the way before you start believing that the murder of college kids engaging in protests is a fringe position within the United States' "civilized order" (in their eyes) remember the US sent military aid to the ruling dictatorial neoliberal party here in Mexico after the party expressed "concern over the safety of the 1968 olympics", leading to the US-backed Massacre of Tlatelolco in which almost 400 students were murdered, thousands were injured, and more were arrested. unmeasured violence isn't new for them, and college children are one of the easiest targets for the United States to inflict underhanded violence on. you need to be smart about how you organize yourselves.

Police may also feign kettles in order to cause a protest to disperse.

Protests that move quickly are harder to kettle (but are easier to split up as people get left behind). Something important to note is that kettles are used by police to gather intelligence. Police may tell you that you will be allowed to leave if you provide your name and your address, if you give information about other protestors etc. Police can and will lie to you, do not trust them. Never talk to cops. Being trapped in a kettle is stressful. Police may decide to arrest a few of you or all of you. Their goal is to gather information and to demoralize you. They might threaten or harass you. Your goal should be to remain calm and to help the people around you remain calm. Remember if nobody talks, everyone walks.

Brazil is going through one of the worst climatic crisis ever seen.

i live in the southernmost state, Rio Grande do Sul. we have been suffering from extreme, nonstop rainstorms for a week now. the rivers are flooding, reaching 4-6 meters above their natural level. people are being rescued by helicopters, neighborhoods are being evacuated. entire cities are slowly but surely becoming submerged in water. 60 people missing and counting. 32 deaths and counting.

and this is not new. last november also had a flood like this one. 50 dead, many material losses. it happened again this january, with thousands being left without power or water for days.

three catastrophical disasters within less than a year. three disasters only a few months apart.

this is not natural.

unsustainable agricultural practices and politics led to this. a complete disregard for nature led to this. greed led to this. always greed.

when it comes to the climate crisis, i cannot stress this enough: we need to act now if we still want to live. disasters like this are going to happen more often and they're going to be much, much worse. this flood is being considered the worst climatic catastrophe in the history of my state. i don't know how long it will take for another bigger one to happen and take its place. i just know it will be sooner than it should.

I don't know how much you guys actually pay attention to American politics, but something hilarious and crazy happened. Kristi Noem, Governor of South Dakota, was on the short list to be Donald Trump's VP. She wrote a book in which she talked about her dog, cricket. She was going to train this dog to hunt pheasant, it was 14 months old, but it couldn't successfully hunt. It attacked a neighbor's chickens, and moved to bite her one time.

so she shot it, she fucking killed her dog. and conservatives are pissed. It's all over the news, she's been dropped from the shortlist for vice president, if it wasn't so terrible it would be kind of fucking hilarious. This woman destroyed her political career because of this I think. How do you recover from this?

It really does say something about American politics though that, if she had admitted to killing a person, I don't think anybody would give a shit. people will justify that until they run out of breath. but killing a dog is like, the highest form of blasphemy to people in the US lmao

The way you change your immediate reactions to things is that you catch yourself having an uncharitable/bigoted/overly judgmental thought and you catch it and replace it and then you do that a hundred times a day for your whole life and eventually one day like five years later you realize that you think differently now and you’ll always be working on something but that’s how life goes and that’s fine.
