it's good for your mental health to have mutuals who are wildly horny about kinks which do nothing at all for you
this is both as in. sometimes you will realise that actually these kinks do do something for you and that can be very eye-opening and liberating
and also as in. sometimes you will hear someone decry these kinks as indicative of moral failing, and being friends with people like this makes you immune to that sort of knee-jerk outrage
Also primes you for awareness that there are a lot of people who like a lot of things you don’t like or even that make you uncomfortable, and that is okay, has nothing to do with their character, and is also none of your business.
It’s always good practice. Remember that minding your own business costs $0 and has numerous health benefits.
“Having freaky friends to immunise you against moral panic” is a take so good I can’t believe I don’t hear it more often.
"I have been attending the Devil's sacrament with you perverts for three weeks straight and you haven't awakened a fucking thing in me."

me: i have a very specific tumblr accent meme im thinking of that surely i should be able to pull up by searching the text in the meme
the most dogshit useless decimated search engine in the entire world:
i did find it btw but having a COMPUTER address me like it’s a person sent me into such an incandescent rage i nearly pitched my phone clear across the room
Remember, as of Tuesday, all of Google search is run through their AI now.
The company's sweeping AI overhaul of Search could reshape how billions of people find information—and impact the publishers and businesses
With severance season 2 around the corner it’s time for me to share the time I accidentally watched 4 minutes of an episode on mute and thought it was a brilliant way to show the sensory deprivation experienced by the innies

I watched the Black Mondays ep, and evil Komodo’s has my heart. I’m fairly certain he’s going to end up being a manipulative mastermind but still. The way I gasped when he started talking like some sort dude in a documentary. I love it.
Also, I spent a good couple of days just attempting to get Komodo’s legs to look right, his stupid little legs are so odd to draw and I’m still not sure how much I like em.
I also love how Zak Monday has the Fang while normal Zak has the claw, I really love the way they’re truly opposites even with powers and weapons.
You can be talking to someone and she'll be like, "Oh I made a silly mistake. Women don't deserve voting rights teehee." And you'll be like, "What." And she'll be like, "Oh I'm sorry! That must sound so bad out of context. No it's this Tiktok meme where, if you're a girl and you do something dumb, you say 'Women don't deserve voting rights teehee.'"
And you'll be like, "That sounds bad." And she'll be like, "No no. It's totally not that bad. It's just a meme. Men say it too. Like if a man does something silly he'll be like, 'I am like those women who do not deserve to vote.'" And you'll be like, "Does that make it better?" And she'll be like, "Well there was one guy who tried to make 'Men shouldn't vote' a popular meme. But it never caught on and also he got yelled at a lot."
And then you drop it there because like, you're harshing the vibe.
God this makes me think of this screenshot:
"it minimizes you as a person" really wraps up my entire discomfort with the whole "oh but i'm just a girl" thing when used in most situations.
No Doubt spinning in their graves hearing people overuse “I’m just a girl”… and they’re not even dead yet!
people using the I’m just a girl song for their little videos but making them short enough to crop out the part of gwen stephani yelling that’s all you’ll let me be
The way some people looked at this song and went "omg yeah! i AM just a girl!" With no other consideration is fucking wild to me

-Born In The USA as a patriotic song

This cover of "I'm just a girl" by Florence and the Machine is sinister and gets the point across more clearly I feel
A. That cover is SEXY and GOTHIC and I LOVE FLORENCE SO MUCH (the video is Yellowjackets, so CW for flashing images and some violence)
B. The children are forgetting what it is to learn this song from Eowyn and Elizabeth Swann fanvids and must be reminded
I can even let the Stays Are Evil!!! thing slide temporarily with Elizabeth. the Sacred Lore is that important

[ID: an 8 panel digital art comic titled "Book Bans", showing the following true story.
1: a girl and her mom are in a library and smiling. Narration begins: "A 10-year-old in Delaware was visiting her local library with her mother."
2: the girl picks a book off a shelf. Narrator: "While searching the shelves, she picked up the book "It's perfectly normal" by Robie H. Harris and Michael Emberley."
3: the girl holds the book in the car with her mom. Narrator: "The book is about sex education and is one of the most banned books of the past two decades. The little girl took it home."
4: the girl points at herself while the mom is shocked. Narrator: "Later that day, the little girl showed her mom the chapter on sexual abuse and said: "This is me.""
5: the mom looks worried. Narrator: "Her father was abusing her, and it was the first time she'd spoken about it."
5: a fat black old judge in a courtroom. Narrator: "The father was convicted, and the judge said: "There were two heroes in this case. One was the child, and the other was the book.""
6: the author, an old white woman with short hair speaking. Narrator: "In an interview, the author, Robie H. Harris, said..."
"I have been called a pornographer, a child abuser — every name in the book, as the saying goes. But whenever I am called one of those names, I think of that ten-year-old girl. I wish we never had to talk with kids about any of these aberrant behaviors. But we have to do so because they already know about them to some extent and because kids have a right to have the accurate information that can keep them healthy and safe. They need to know how to get help to make any abusive behavior stop."
7: the top of a bookshelf with a ceiling. Narrator: "When right-wing groups petition and protest to get sex education books off the shelves of schools and public libraries, it stops the most vulnerable people from accessing the tools and language that can help them. It helps to shield and hide abusers. It communicates to children suffering from abuse that they are shameful and that it's not safe or polite to speak out about. Sex ed books don't "groom" kids and teens. They protect them." On the right lower corner is the source: https://bookriot.com/sex-ed-books-protect-kids/ . End of ID.]

I want to try so many little hobbies. Candle making, soap making, basket weaving, wood carving, book binding, baking, weaving, I want to try them all.
I almost made a post about this the other day (unless i actually did and totally forgot) but there’s so many
I was going to make a list, but then i realized this is a good time to share this book
Making Stuff and Doing things is a whole collection of old punk DIY zines about making and doing just about anything, even things you probably never knew you wanted to do.
Book binding? In there.
Making bowls from old vinyl records? I made a whole ton for my brother’s grad party last year.
Basics of guitar? Making rubber stamps? Silk screening? Composting? Homemade beer, root beer, and wine? Soymilk?? Quill pens??? All in there.
Since it’s more punk, it doesn’t have a ton of the folksy, cottage vibes/hobbies, but it’s all about being resourceful and sustainable, which they both have in common.
If i ever need to do anything I’m not sure of, I double check this book to see if there’s anything in there. It’s one of the only books on diy I’ve ever needed.
Handbook of basic life skills for a young punk or activist, or anyone without a lot of money.Following some of the advice in this book could

if you are lost in the rut, i am begging you to read this essay by Sasha Chapin suggesting what, essentially, my take, are potential jump-starts back into living life in real time. like actually experiencing experiences
do it now! don’t lose months, years, or decades! there is a life beyond doomscrolling, and it’s finite (sorry. sorry. i know okay)
Ok I found this genuinely helpful today, having recently been dealing with long-term stress and a creeping amount of anhedonia. There are several brilliant ideas in here, I highly recommend giving it a read.
