Magic power prop ideas for cosplay!
First 2 sets of photos: PETG thermoplastic heat-shaped. LED berry lights. Diffused light with tracing paper and sanding the plastic. Tutorial: http://www.therpf.com/f9/magic-power-prop-tutorial-233092/ 3rd set: Heat-shaped PETG strips to form a half-sphere structure to support organza, all attached together by tape. The most vivid sheen swirls in the bottom left photo were created by a torch. 4th set: I later found another organza (it was labelled âdance organzaâ) with a more vivid sheen than the type featured in the 3rd set of photos.

TRACON 2014
JFC, I just hope my mozilla lets me to make this post now that I've updated it. (I've tried to do this, like, 4 times crashing every single time)
Because of that AND Crimson moving and being extremely busy with new uni, SO SORRY FOR THE LATENESS OF THESE VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF TRACON PICTURES.
Con was fun but sadly we didn't find too much to take pictures of.
FIND YOURSELF FROM THE PICTURES?
If you want to get mentioned, note me with your alias and possible link to somewhere and Iâll list you!
If you want your picture get removed, itâs also possible by mailing me.
WANT THE PICTURES?
For the cosplayers:
Either send a message by askbox OR mail us at c2cosplay *at* dimensiondoor *dot* org.
Crimson will send you all the files without any watermarks.
You can use the files as you want with no watermarks needed for us but mention or link to c2cosplay would be appreciated but not a must!
You can alter the pictures how ever you want; in the end the pictures are yours, not ours!
For other people:
We will offer the pictures you see in these pictures with watermark with a bit bigger pixel count. We will not share the possible other pictures there are of the cosplayers without their permission.
DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE IN THE PICTURES OR WANT THEM TO BE FOUND?
Share the link wherever you want! Forums, chats, etc.! So that theyâll reach the pictures!
CANDY CANDY: Nurse! Candice White by Crimson in Närcon 2014.
Have to say, this is most comfortable shit I've ever wore.
No close-up picture because I was sick as hell when I wore that. Because of some serious vomiting and stuff my eyes were shot to hell and curls died after running the whole morning to toilet and bushes(yes, TMI), so I hope to get better shoot of this someday. When I have the right shoes too.
Pictures by Ciissi.
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World: Emil Castagnier (crimson) & Richter Abend (ciissi) in Närcon 2014.
No self pictures of Emil as I need to fix some things before I can call it successful. While I had done the clothes AGES ago it pretty much died a week before the con and this is me and Ciissi trying to save it.
Ciissi looked absolutely fabulous, tho.
Thank you J.N. for being out photographer! <3 We wuv you much!
P.s. we had the weapons too but you don't want to see Richter's. Really you don't. The paint job failed so hard it's amazing how we even managed that shitty job. lol
August has begun and with it, another week of our fantastic funding campaign! The heat of summer is upon us, but we have a tip for you on how to keep cool! Join our campaign! That would be cool of you. You will be cool.
COSVISION 2016
SUOMALAISET COSPLAYAAJAT!
... are coming soon. The idiot (me, Crimson) forgot her laptop literally at the other side of the country so have to wait until Ciissi can give me the pictures again.
Overall Närcon was a bit of a flop for us. While the website gives a good vibe of it, it ended us being 90% disappointed at the whole thing. Practically only good things in the con during the whole 4 days was Sigge, one of the builders of fan made R2D2 and the actual location of the con. Literally everything from the event to the workers in there disappointed us so hard it was kind of amazing just how awful a convention could be. There will be no more Närcon for us in the future.

Making corners with bias tape
I've been teaching overall 4 friends last 2 weeks how to make nice corners bias tape so I made a small tutorial for everyone interested! I see way too often cringe-worthy corners on sailor uniforms and such while there is a easy and more cleaner way of making them than just sewing one tape on the other.
What do you need?
The fabric where the bias tape goes.
The bias tape
set square (THIS!)
ruler
chalk
Iron
If you're making your own bias tape, having a bias tape helper (the metal blue thingy I have in that picture) will help you make the tape faster. You can buy them cheap from ebay or more expensive ones from fabric stores. Mine are from ebay and even if the set cost me 7 euros they're good enough.
First of all make the tape if you haven't bought some. You can find my tutorial for it HERE. Since I didn't have the helpers then you can see here how it works:
HOW TO MEASURE?
See from your fabric just from where to where you want your bias tape go from. Those will be your corners!
Let's start from the side tapes. Let's say you're making 18x18 work.
Mark where the tape starts to bias tape and then take your set square.
Why use set square?
It's important that your corner will be even because otherwise the corner won't be straight and whole bias tape starts going wonky! If you don't have money to buy a set square, take somecardboard, cut it into the width of your bias tape and cut the corner by tracing from a corner of paper.
Now, you measure the 18cm (that's tots 18cm :D) and have your first corner halfway done!
Now take the other head of the bias tape and put the right sides against each other and sew on the chalk.
And this is what you get.
Now cut the corners. The smaller the seam margin the better as otherwise your corner will bulk and won't look as sharp as it should.
Now just flip it over.
Remember to shape the head as well as you can to make it look sharp little bitch.
Now, if you have to make another corner like in the picture do the same again. Measure 18cm's from the seam you just sew so that you will have this kind of shape in your tape:
(Sorry for another picture. I hadn't taken a picture of this so had to show another one I took for a friend)
After that's done if you didn't already turn the tape around do it now when you have both done.
Before sewing the tape to the fabric you might want to iron the tape so that it won't go out of the folding and move a lot during sewing. I didn't do that with this tape and you can see how shitty it looks without ironing since the folds won't stay where they should. Also it might be good to pin the tape down so that it won't go wonky, especially if you have slippery fabric(s). Otherwise you're ready to rock!
That's how you get this:
Wait, what is that neat corner thingy next to it!?
You can use this tutorial also to make just normal corners. It's as easy as just doing the same you did with the other one:
Measure the highest points:
and repeat the whole thing!. To make inside corner you'll have to turn the triangle around so when making that my seams looked like this:
So this is pretty good mnemonic:
When making outside corners
When making inside corners
Remember, when sewing inside corners your seam margin has to be almost non existing or it will come out.
This is how the corners look close by. I'm sorry I kind of half-assed them so they're not as pretty as they could be.
I hope I'm clear enough with this tutorial. In case you want more information, just message and I'll clear things up. It's a bit hard for me to explain something that's so clear to myself.
This was on my facebook feed and lord almighty i thank the lord for the presence of this video
